Installing on an external hard drive
« on: July 04, 2014, 06:54:42 AM »
Hey all, this is my first post here, so a big Hello from me :)

I've just started installing TS3 on my laptop again, this time onto an external hard drive. I can't work out where EPs and SPs should be located in relation to the base game and was hoping someone here could give me a clue? The base game is located like this -

E: Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

I tried installing Ambitions in the same path at first but the error message came up saying TS3 folder was already there, so I installed it like this -

E: Games\Electronic Arts\

And the game won't start. Is it as simple as needing to make a new folder named Ambitions or should it be elsewhere.

On my laptops internal, I just have it all under D:\Electronic Arts.

Each expansion then has it's own folder within that, and it works fine. I would assume the same should hold true for externals.

So maybe E:Games\Electronic Arts\Ambitions would have done the trick?

This is how my Electronic Arts folder is set up on my internal drive. Hopefully it will help.
