BIG Late Night problem

Hi,
I've just recently bought a new apartment, and the game seems to think the entrance is my home. I can successfully complete any activity other than going up the lift. My children have now been taken away because of hunger, I'm about to die and I have no clue what to do!

The doors on the upstairs lift are open if that makes a difference? Oh, and I've tried turning Free Will off/on already, no difference.

You don't actually need to have testing cheats enabled to reset a sim.

Be sure to turn the testing cheats *off* when you're done

I had that problem with an elevator when I moved into the Jones' penthouse.   If reset doesn't work (it didn't for me), try:


Go to buy mode
testingcheatsenabled on
buydebug on
RestrictBuildBuyInBuildings off
find the elevator in the buydebug listing (the "?" when sorted by type), it costs $1000.
Delete the stuck elevator (the one with the open door)
Place a new one in the same spot, facing the same way

I did this, and never had an elevator problem again.

I am having this same problem with the elevator except that it is in a venue where I my band has a gig, and not in an apartment where I live.

It seems that I can only use the the debug commands in a building where I am a resident.  Is this true?

Is that venue irrepairable?

(Note: to bring up debug console press Control + Shift + C simultaneously)

Well depending on if your playing a dynasty challenge or some other challenge running that forbids the use of edit town, then I think edit town is the only way to to into another lot to try and fix that.  Someone else will have to confrim for me if that works or not, since I don't play much in Bridgeport.

Same thing happened to me once! You pretty much have two options:
1. testingcheatsenabled true
Enter
ResetSim First name Last Name
Enter
(this resets your sim)
2. Move to a different apartment. Don't do this if you really want to keep your apartment. I'd reccomend the first solution.

If you are not playing a dynasty game. (edited for mod name - Saltypaws) does wonders for problems like this.  This is, of course, a mod, and I am unsure if I am allowed to discuss it here.

Alternatively, testingcheatsenabled adds the "Buy on this lot" ability which you can use to reset the elevators manually in lieu of going into Edit Town mode.
