Mardi Gras Mambo
by Clementine

To showcase our new line of Mardi Gras Carnival costumes, we set up an ultimate Mardi Gras party room and invited six lucky residents of Sim Orleans to wear the costumes and enjoy an evening on us in the Mambo Room. We put on some great music, set out some beverages and activities, and told them to laissez les bon temps rouler ("let the good times roll"). We crossed our fingers that they'd enjoy themselves and not be too bored.

The next day, we got back the following pictures.

Here they are, our lucky Mambo Room models! From left to right, apparently having some fun dancing, are Pierre, Zenobia, Rex, Bernadette, Beauregarde, and Magnolia.

Evidently they felt thirsty...

Make that very thirsty!

Very thirsty, quite powerful, and sharing a sense of fair play:

They seem to have made friends, too.

We don't even want to know what this was about...

Eventually they seem to have gotten sleepy.

Our conclusion: a very Mardi Gras time was had by all. The clothes made it through the night unscathed, and now the collection is available for all sims who want to party like they're in the Mardi Gras Mambo Room.

Closeups and explanations of the costumes:

Beauregard and Magnolia
Both are in traditional Mardi Gras colors of gold, purple and green, supposedly representing power, justice and faith. Beauregard's costume was inspired by revelers like
the gentleman in this photo
. Top hat, stripes, and colors all very Mardi Gras! Magnolia's dress reflects the French influence on New Orleans and its Mardi Gras - her dress pattern is meant to remind one of old French patterns like the fleur de lis. Showing a lot of leg, wearing a bunch of Mardi Gras necklaces, and wearing sexy boots completes her look.  Beauregard and Magnolia also have on face paint to represent the traditional Carnival masks of Mardi Gras, like all of our models.

Pierre and Bernadette
Again in Mardi Gras gold, purple, and green. Pierre's costume represents the classic Mardi Gras jester, as seen here and here. Bernadette is in a bikini top, prominent in Carnival season practically everywhere.

Rex and Zenobia
Rex's costume is a version of the costume worn by "krewes" in New Orleans Mardi Gras parades, for example in this picture, or this one. Zenobia's costume is decorated in diamond patterns, again harking back to the French, along with a ruffled skirt which is traditional in Mardi Gras costumes going way back to the 1910s. They're also both wearing necklaces with the traditional "doubloon" coins made and thrown by the krewes.

Note: The screenshots may include items from any EP except Late Night. The costumes include items from Supernatural, Seasons, Into the Future, Generations, and Showtime.
