Sims Learning Skills REALLY Slowly
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:00:06 PM »
In order to keep my elder foster mother Sim alive so she can raise 5 children, I need for her to max cooking, and for her daughter to max fishing. The mother is a Natural cook, and her daughter is an angler, and they both have the Fast Learner LTR, so why are their skill bars moving so incredibly slowly?I swear, at this rate it'll take them weeks to max their skills! Help?

Late Night bug. Skill gain system is borked, causing progressive and crippling slowdown on some sims, and warp 10 speed on vampire kids.

Turning into a vampire or moving to a different neighborhood *might* fix it, tho chance is low.

How slow are you talking about? It's quite possible to max fishing in 4 or 5 days. Cooking does take longer than fishing. One tip I can throw at you is to always use the Tri-Forge stove. It's the only one that boosts cooking skill at a faster rate. Don't forget that you always want Sims to be elated when they're skilling.

Cooking got maxed, but still working on fishing. I'd say she gains a fishing skill point every two minutes or so.

The speed at what you see the floating +'s is entirely irrelevant.

Since your sim appears to be skilling normally, perhaps your fisher haves a low mood bar?

What is the fishers LTW Simstar? I'm asking because one time I was learning one of my sim to use the guitar only while his LTW was going to max the Da Vincy skills, and even though he got plenty of nice moodlets, his happyness bar stays incredibly low. That could infect the low skilling rate.

Private Aquarium. Her sister is holding all her perfect fish until she gets 13.

Oke, in that case you can forget my post. Your LTW does go hand in hand with your skills so that isn't the solution. Sorry, I can't help you further.

It's alright. She finally maxed fishing, and caught a Deathfish. :)

Ah, good to read. Did you manage to overcome the low learing issue your sims where suffering?
