Poor Gent! After seeing him as a kitten again, we were so determined to keep him.
But emptying and replacing all the kitchen/dining surfaces whenever we returned to the lot was a bit much. Especially since we're already relocking every door after every outing.
I always think of Iconica as a "cute sim" and forgot how lovely she is with makeup!
So glad you like the names! I try to link names to their destinies.

Five days ago, Iconica weds Mehdi Mandir and moves into Granada Place, only to have her new husband die of hysteria that same night;
Three days ago, Iconica accepts ghostly Mehdi's brunch invitation to La Bovine where she witnesses her mother's death;
Later that day, she sends the dashing Gent back to her father because of a glitch then moves in Ralph Kidd.

Week 25/Thursday

Iconica: Hello there! Remember me? The tragic Gen5 Lee heroine who our watcher has abandoned for some silly bears?
Here I am, making eyes at my high-school sweetheart Ralph Kidd, who I've adored since my toddler days.
I don't know why but he has such impossibly narrow hips!
May he never get probed--I mean, zapped--by Senior Pollinator Technican #3!


Inquisitive Bull Lee is the next Lee heir!
He's causing quite the uproar in Heaven with his face that's causing all the angels to weep.

Why, yes. I moved here five days ago and gave birth to the twins two days ago.
What?! Are you actually counting the days?  Hmmph!


And here's Deft Lee. One guess what his trait is!
The twins only aged up tonight so I can't tell you much about them yet.
I'm so happy that they both have my hair color because…oh, never mind.

I've never seen such a defiant toddler! Every little thing turns into a battle, lol.


Friday

Evil Brook smashes the dollhouse then gains a Happy +1 "Home Wrecker" moodlet.
Not cool, bro!
Happily for the twins, their Grandpa Jet repairs the dollhouse immediately.


When I read to the twins, Bull Lee gets up on the couch and sits right next to me.
Deft Lee takes his sweet time coming over then prefers to listen from afar.
I love both of my boys dearly, but it's my angel Bull Lee who first becomes my good friend. (5 points)


I read a tip by Glazeylady who discovered that highchairs replenish energy faster than toddler beds.
Of course, we must try it!
It takes me three hours to get both of my sleepy boys in the highchairs.
That's because you keep autonomously taking them out of the highchairs, you dingus!

There! My angels are both all set and I lock their bedroom door to "Everyone" and "All pets."


Are you as happy as I am that I can now craft Age-Down Treats?
I'd thought I'd need Veterinarian 8, but I only need Level 7 after all!
I got you covered now, Scamp!


When I go to check on the boys, my plan has been shot to pieces.
Ralph let Bull out of the highchair and put him the bed.
Then he let Deft out after feeding him something sweet so now Deft is sugar-crashing.
And Scamp's there, too, drooling over the food in the case.

I'm so glad my doors locks aren't broken… *sells both highchairs


Adelynn: After 4+ weeks in the Politician career, I never earned a single promotion.
But today, after 2 workdays, I get promoted to Level 2 Tech Guru! (6 points)
And for my next promotion, all I need to do is play video games? I'm in geek heaven!
Someone pinch my cheek, cuz I must be dreaming!


I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as a parent.
I even master the parenting skill this afternoon! (8 points)
But no matter how I try, my twins constantly defy me. Every.single.time.

And I got so tired of the adults emptying the baker's case of meals for the twins.
I've stashed the baker's case in family inventory, just to spite them all!
Why can't they take food out of the fridge, which is stocked with food?
Never mind that everyone just waltzes through the door I just locked. Arrrggggh.


Ralph: Not again! How much longer do we have to put up with this loser, anyway? *checks Brook's age
Hmmph! 8 days to elder, so he'll be around for at least 2-1/2 more weeks.
Iconica: I agree, Ralph, that he's a bit of a pill. Oddly, he loves the boys but not their toys.

Ralph: Can't we feed him to the cow...
Iconica: Forget about it, Ralph. This isn't that kind of challenge!


Saturday

Ralph: What? You have a problem with my standing in our ensuite for 2 hours?
"Someone" didn't realize the original bathroom door has never worked.
This is the first time I've used this ensuite since I moved in a week ago.


Ralph: After tearing myself away from our ensuite, I chat with Iconica while she writes.
I didn't mean to distract her but I end up getting serenaded. Not that I mind. At all.
Iconica: Thanks for the inspiration, darling. This screenplay's turned out to be a best-seller! Only one more to go!


Oh nooo! I go to hug Deft Lee lovingly but he rejects me!
I'll just have to try harder, won't I?


No matter what I do, Deft Lee and I don't become good friends.
When his fun is low, I play with him.


When his hygiene drops just a little, I bathe him.
Every charming smile of his is hard-won.


I do not take any snuggle for granted. Hmmm, still not good friends?

Scamp: Ahem! Remember me?


We get the notice about the Romance Festival and I cast my parental duties to the wind!
The twins will have to fend for themselves because I've invited Ralph on a date.
Papa and Aarohi are already there, dressed smartly for the occasion.


I need to get my head examined! We are on a date!
Why would I lead Ralph to sit at a table with two other flirty women?


We've moved to a more secluded spot. So much better!


Iconica: Ralph, you know I've adored you since the moment I first spotted you from the ball pit.
Ralph: I was having a bad time that day but you ran up and started babbling away.
You looked so happy showing me your toy that I couldn't help but cheer up.

Iconica: I know it must have been a shock to you when I married Mehdi Mandir.
Papa had decided on our marriage when he was a teenager, before I'd even been born.
But now I'm free. I've only been widowed for a week now but I can't wait any longer.
Ralph, eternal keeper of my heart, will you marry me?

Ralph: I've been yours since you were in grade school. It's high time we make it official!
*mutual squeeing


Iconica: Well, that was lame!
Ralph: Your Heat-of-the-Moment Proposal? It was absolutely NOT lame!
Iconica: No, I mean, I wanted my proposal to be the last required social for our date but it didn't count.
Ralph: Who cares? Let's change benches and earn our gold-medal date! (9 points)


After our date ends, I see Papa in his usual clothes selling his paintings.
Oh dear! Why is he selling his favorite portrait of Scamp at the beach?
I rush over there but Papa leaves, preventing me from buying Scamp's painting.


Before heading home, I stop to satisfy my craving for ramen.
I discover just how gorgeous Ralph's mother is.
And because she's a vampire, I'm actually a week older than she is now.

My second discovery is that Ralph has impeccable chopstick manners.
He isn't chopstick savvy yet he wields his chopsticks with a deft mastery.
Come to think of it, our Deft Lee needs to earn that Chopstick Savvy trait!


Week 26/Sunday

At 8 am, I wake Deft Lee up and start socializing with him.
I read to him, praise him, teach him to talk, give him a second wind, and do every other imaginable positive social.

Even with my Level 7 Charisma, I need to socialize with him for five straight hours.
Finally, little Mr. Hard-to-Get consents to becoming my good friend. (10 points)
Is my life forever jinxed? What am I doing wrong?
 
Oh right, this starts my second free day. Don't nobody tell me I didn't earn it!

How annoying about the painting! That's such a lovely portrait of Scamp; it would be shame if it got sold to some rando.
I'm thinking hard about the names, now. Unru is destined to be  . . . a criminal? Or just a prankster? I'm very excited to find out!
As for your dollhouse-wrecker . . . does it count as unnatural death if there just happen to be a bunch of hungry cowplants around and he just happens to . . .well, never mind. Bummer about the door locks, though! No doll home is safe!

Awww, poor Iconica!  She's trying so hard and things are just not going her way.  And all the moreso, her poor Watcher!!  Glitchy doors, randomly dying spouses, spouses who are unhelpful, destructive "helpers," and spoiled moments that should have moved the date to gold medal but don't  :=(  Poor, poor you!
Still, the story is lovely and the Lees are a wonderful and lovely bunch.  Can't wait to see the boys grow into children, and eventually, teens!

Sorry to disappoint about Unru's name! She rolled the Wild trait as a toddler, so she's Unru Lee.
Initially, I considered it a mere coincidence that Bull became good friends so much earlier than Deft. But when Iconica sat down and concentrated on winning Deft's (good) friendship, the little git's resistance was hilarious. And yes, I hate how a broken dollhouse makes the kiddos sad.

Awwww, thanks for your kind sympathies, good sir! Whenever I'm caught up in a frustrated rage, I realize that my biggest problem with this challenge is that I'm having a hard time letting go which is, after all, the whole point of this challenge.
Haha, I've turned into such a TS4 whiner lately! My best bet, though, is to move out of this house asap. That's right! I'm placing the blame entirely on this lot!

Iconica had a better time in this update. Her solution was to let other household members interact with Deft. She did help him with his needs, though.
I'm really not sure why this generation is so hard to play, but it's been so problematic! I do love Iconica and Ralph together, however, so that's a saving grace.


A Townie Dynasty with Leeway 5.38: Scamp the Divo

Week 26/Sunday

Iconica: I can't tell you how relieved I am to start another free day!
With the help of MoveObjects On, I've squeezed a rocket ship into our front yard.
Papa has maxed Rocket Science already so I'm hoping he can continue helping me upgrade!
(He can't, it turns out.)


Let's get that "Read for two hours" goal out of the way for Whiz Kid, shall we?
I'm absolutely stunned to notice that Ralph's waist is not much wider than the toddlers'.
If only we lived on a lot large enough for a pool!


Cheeky of me, I know! But I've hired a butler for the duration of our free day.
He seems to be reading a steamy romance novel involving a butler and his employer.
Hmmmm, I never realized there was a market for that sort of fiction!
Maybe I should step out of my comfort zone for my aspiration's last bestseller?


Iconica: The girls start out by working a little on their aspirations.

Unru: I only need one Logic level to complete Nerd Brain. Time to catch up on my breakthroughs!
Adelynn: I'll never finish Angling Ace, but it'd be nice to earn a little more satisfaction!


Iconica: My future mother-in-law, Kailee Kidd, drops by the house.
After a slight hesitation, I invite her in.
Who am I to keep her away from her son Ralph?
However, she merely stands there for 2 hours with that mysterious smile then leaves. *shrugs

Monday

What was I thinking when I hired a butler?!
Of course, I get a loser butler! I tell him three times to water the plants.
But he totally ignores me to watch TV, noshing the single serving of frank & beans he prepared.
I've even overlooked his pear shape but his attitude is intolerable.

After reprimanding him, I decide to fire his lazy plumbob! Arrrgggghhhh!


I run out to introduce myself to a boy I've never seen around before.
My new friend Ferdinando Padron is a goofball, which immediately eliminates him as a future spouse.

Could he be related to our ex-butler with the Selvadoradan headband! *checks contacts
Hallelujah! They have different family names!


Despite all my petty grievances, I do have a little spot of sunshine!
Both twins will age up as Happy Toddlers on their birthday Thursday night!

You're probably thinking Happy Toddlers aren't much cause for celebration.
But it's the very best I can do without any control over my household, except on free days.
I'm earning most of the points myself so it's hard to make time to teach the twins as well.


It's so obvious that our free day ended hours ago!
The Mandirs are no longer doing anything even remotely useful!

Sister Unru, however, reads a Parenting skill book after work. Good for her!


Meanwhile, my perfect Ralph practices yoga then watches a cooking show.


Deft has a bladder crisis but Ralph is there to take him to the potty.
I don't know if Deft asked for help or if Ralph had been checking on him.
All I know is that Ralph is great around the twins!


Tuesday

Very early in the morning, I master Vampire Lore. (2 points)
I'd planned to "defang" Bull's future bride then realized he needs to do that himself.
If I do it while I'm still the controlled sim, she'll age 2 weeks during Bull's teen phase.
*mutters: Why do I need to pretend it was my fault when it was the Watcher's?

Hey, at least you're that much closer to your next free day!


Autonomous flash cards!
Again, I don't know who asked who, but Ralph did boost his Parenting to Level 5 on our last free day.

I'm determined to have Free Day #3 right before the twins age up to children.

After the free day ended yesterday at 1 pm, all she did was troll teh forums!


Noticing that my fun is low, Ralph offers a solution that defies the space-time continuum…


Wednesday

Scamp is always passing out all over the lot instead of sleeping in his own little bed.
I buy him an adorable new bed but I guess he dislikes it.
Ten minutes after he lays eyes on it, he runs away.
I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother! Now the entire household is sad. Ugh!


In the early hours, I phone to have a pizza delivered. Not that I really want to eat pizza. (5 points)
Unru has been a sliver away from maxing Logic and her Nerd Brain aspiration since Sunday.
Now that her maxing them would usher in the next free day too early, you know she will!


Papa aged up this morning and he still looks fantastic!
I check my contacts and, may wonders never cease, Grandpa Garrison is still alive and kicking!


I'm ready to lock Brooks away into a cramped, sparsely furnished room in the basement.
It's not enough that the twins are grieving Scamp's absence. Now their dollhouse is broken, too!

Brooks was downstairs where there are two showers and two toilets, but does he use a toilet there?
No, he has to walk all the way upstairs to walk in on me while I'm showering.

Later that day, Adelynn brings home a promotion to Tech Guru 3. (6 points)


Thursday

I'm really delighted by the quality of Ralph's autonomous interactions with the twins!
And the boys, in turn, love him to pieces. It's no wonder, really.


Once the boys fall asleep, Ralph and I decide to seize those stolen moments to elope.
Of course, that's when Scamp returns home, hungry and filthy.
He is such a little divo!


For some reason, each time I ask Ralph to elope, our ceremony stops after a few seconds.
After five or six tries, I look to see if I have a Welcome back social among my friendly interactions with Scamp.
I do!

Giving him a bath doesn't suffice, it seems.
Ralph and I aren't "allowed" to elope until I officially perform the Welcome back social on Scamp. *rolls eyes


In the afternoon, I sit down to write and hopefully complete Best-Selling Author.
But wait, I still have three more free days left!
I decide to help the twins earn the remaining points instead.

First, Deft Lee maxes Imagination (8 points)
Next, around 5 pm, Bull Lee maxes Communication. (10 points)

I do believe it's time for our third free day, folks!
The twins age up into children in 5 more sim-hours, so that's a treat for next time!

Seems like things are going quite a bit more smoothly in this house than it had in some others.  I mean, sure you can't lock doors and Brook and Adelynn aren't that helpful, but your heir actually has some help and support from her support Sims this time!  Go Iconica!!  (And Unru and Ralph!!)

Scamp, how could you? Running away, and then interrupting the wedding until you're properly welcomed home? Divo, indeed! Is he a couch potato? The very first dog I had in Sims 4 was and did that passing out everywhere (except in the bed) thing. It was disturbing, but I think it was just part of the trait.

Ralph, on the other hand, is a total gem. I'm glad poor Iconica has at least one helpful household member. And that wasp waist! I had to chuckle at Iconica longing for a pool!

The twins are so adorable, I almost hate to see them age up, but I'm sure Iconica (and Watchette!) will be very happy indeed!

I'm really loving Iconica with Ralph and the twins!
If I forget about everything that has happened on this lot so far, Iconica's household was pretty nice during the last update. Well, except for Brooks, lol.

I wonder what decides how often a spouse will autonomously help with the children or not. So far, Gen1 Akira Kibo and Gen5 Ralph Kidd have been really active parents. The rest hardly did any parenting (but Garrison is so cute, I didn't mind, haha).

To be honest, Unru isn't much of a help around the house. She works, hangs out in the living room, sleeps, and rarely interacts with the twins. I always put some skill book in everyone's personal inventory in the hope that they'll learn that skill. In Unru's case, it was the Parenting skill book. So, no, not an unsung hero, but she's been doing well in the Scientist career.

Scamp's traits are Adventurous, Glutton, and Troublemaker, so I'm not sure why he prefers to pass out all over the lot. That ominous music always plays but now I know it's just Scamp passing out.
As for Ralph, I'm not sure if he's offering to help the kids or they're proactively skilling (doubt that, lol), but Mr. Wasp Waist is all over their education.
You're right! The twins are so darling as toddlers but I can't wait to see how they grow up.

Haha, this generation has been glitchy so I'm trying to get through it quickly. Lately, I've been ending each update on a free day because it gives me hope! Also, my heirs do a lot of "pre-skilling" as teens so, after they move out, they can max various skills quickly to earn those free days.
Lol, are you wanting Caleb to marry into the fam? So am I. I'm waiting for part of his household to die off now, but later for sure! *gives pinky promise



5.39: His Secret Service

Week 26/Thursday

Iconica: We last met at the start of our third free day, with 5 hours until the twins' birthday.
Immediately, I hire a nanny who helps Bull Lee with Shapes.


I also hire a butler to rescue our parched and bug-infested garden.
Our new butler makes a bee-line for the garden without being assigned.
How lucky that he seems to have his priorities straight!


We have the boys blow out their birthday candles after their remaining skills reach Level 4.
They both become Whiz Kids, even though they don't have school until Monday.
Why? Because we're delaying the next free day for a week.


Iconica: Sweetheart, do you think it's time to explain this chapter's title?
Ralph: That's an extremely tacky title, by the way.
Iconica: Um, I wasn't asking you to critique the title. I'm asking you whether it's time…


Ralph: I don't know. Why are you asking me, Iconica?


Iconica: The reason for that is… *whisper, whisper, whisper
Ralph: *looks skeptical


Ralph: Don't you think everybody's already figured it out? How could they not?
The math isn't that difficult.


Iconica: Remember the night that Mehdi died?
Ralph: As if it were yesterday.
Iconica: Well, the two images in that last collage might have been out of order.


Friday

Bull: I got dibs on Gramps mentoring for our next game of chess.
Deft: Why? Both Papa and Gramps can mentor Mental and Logic.
Bull: Yeah, but Papa doesn't have the Mentor trait so I'm learning slower than you.

Hey, why am I learning the violin? I thought we were all about Whiz Kids?
It's for your Creative skill. I don't remember exactly how Influencing works.
Don't you need to acquire a skill before you can be influenced to keep learning it?
Bull: You're asking me?


Iconica: I tried so hard to complete Best-Selling Author during the free day.
Of course, I finish my third bestseller just minutes after our free day is over.

Completing my aspiration also earns me 1,000 satisfaction points. (3 points)
I switch to the Super Parent aspiration and earn another 1,000 points. Oops! (4 points)


Deft: Our free day sure passed quickly, eh?
Bull: Sure did! Hey, did you hear about Great-Great-Grandpa Dominic Fyres?
Deft: Yep, he came back to life and moved next door into the Caliente house.


Sis Unru and Adelynn both earn promotions this evening. (6 points)
We are earning points way too fast today!
Not that I mind having to hire a butler later.


Saturday

Early in the morning, I decide to rehire the butler but hire the nanny by mistake. (4 points)
It's just as well, since Deft masters the Mental skill soon after (6 points)


Too bad about the Book of Life getting nerfed. (Or is it a bug? It's hard to tell these days.)
Oh well, I've written Epic Sagas for everyone in the house except Ralph and Brooks.
They're still useful for filling needs while the twins, Unru, and Adelynn are off to school or work.


Week 27/Sunday

A very late-night meal of vegetarian chili.
We were at South Square Café for several hours before I realized the boys were hungry.
Can children not order for themselves at a café?


Scamp develops magmafied organs while I'm teaching him his last trick.
He ends up requiring surgery and a cone of shame.
It's as if Scamp waited until I was almost Level 9 Veterinarian to get sick!
And I hire a butler to postpone our next free day. (5 points)


During a family outing to Bathe de Rille…
Bull: Why are you coaching me in swimming, Mama?
Iconica: So you can build your Motor skill, Why do you ask?
Bull: Oh, just wondering cuz your Fitness is only Level 1…


Iconica: Oh good! Bull's introducing himself to his future step-daughter, Noel!
*checks her out in Bull's contacts
Huh? Noel is Bull's aunt? I think we need to go pay Charity a visit, stat.


Mystery solved! The vampire Charity Bjergsen is Sofia Bjergsen's daughter.
Charity's daughter Noel and my Ralph are both kids of our Gen 3 pollinator.
That means both Bull and I aren't directly related to Charity at all.

tl;dr: Bull and Charity Bjergsen aren't related.
Before leaving the Bjergsens, I give adult Charity a quick makeover.
Grampa Garrison passed away this evening so we stop by to retrieve his urn.


Monday

Bull and Deft bring home B's on their first day of school. Nice work! (7 points)
Brooks also earns a promotion to Scientist 4. (8 points)

Tuesday

I become good friends with Scamp (finally) but I have a butler. (8 points)
Briefly, I consider hiring a nanny but I'm sick and tired of delaying our next free day.


Bull and Deft bring home A grades today and are ready to finish off Whiz Kid. (10 points)

Deft: I really wanted to draw on the new Jungle Adventures activity table.
Bull: Yeah, but Artistic Prodigy doesn't recognize them so…. *shrugs
Deft: Only 8 more days until our teen birthday, bro!
Bull: Yep, I'm feeling ready to take over as active heir!

Iconica: We still have several hours to go on our free day.
The twins will switch soon to Rambunctious Scamp and simply Practice Typing.

Also, I spot Scamp ageing up without any advance notice at all.
So glad I noticed him throwing off sparkles in the living room.

Dominic Fyres:  Dominic passed on before Gen3 Merri moved in with Garrison Fyres. As soon as I noticed him living next door, I evicted him.
Later, with the Team's permission, I entered Manage Households to delete him, but he was gone. *scratches head

Books of Life:  Are they bugged or nerfed? Since they only work for sims on another lot, Iconica only reads them for household members at school/work.
Or she travels elsewhere to read them for sims at home. Still somewhat useful.

Chapter format: Taking screenshots of almost every point earned isn't working for me, so I'm thinking of a different format going forward.
Are readers even interested in exactly how I earn each of my free days? Not useful at all unless you're playing or planning one yourself...

Internet connection: I lost my internet connection today for about 10 hours. I keenly realize that I have no life without internet:
"Oh, no internet? Okay, I'll just do…wait, I can't do that without internet."
Anyway, I had to wait so long to post this update that I'm halfway done with the next one. LOL
