Sharebears 3.28: Taler du Engelsk?
« Reply #210 on: May 22, 2018, 12:28:57 AM »

3.28: Taler du Engelsk?

Week 10/Tuesday

Edamame: Hey, Jax. Since we both have Never Weary, wanna do Soulmates together?
Jax: Thought you'd never ask!
Edamame: As much as I love your Matrix look, the sunglasses are a bit out of place in our boudoir…
Jax: Let me slip into something more comfortable.

Wednesday

Jax: We're aiming for gold on all our dates, right?
Edamame: Absolutely! The boys don't age up until around 4 pm, so we have the time.

Ahem! *clears throat
Jax: Did you hear something, Eda?
Hey, you two! Your triplets received their "Celebrate birthday" notices just now.
Edamame: But it's only 4 a.m.!
Yeah. I haven't really got a hang of the timing yet for Short lifespan, either.
Jax: Okay, I'm on it. *texts Cuatro

Cuatro: I'm just doing like Papa Jax told me to do.
First, Cinca and I light the birthday candles, then I have to wake up the boys.
Next, the nanny and I help the triplets age up.
What are the 'rents doing that's so important they can't age up the triplets themselves?!

Edamame: I give the boys their makeovers when Jax and I come up for air between dates.
Initially, I give them all the same hairstyle so you can see how much alike they are.
Eyebrows aside, they are identical triplets. Agreed? And all three earn the Happy Toddlers trait.

Hakuto loves the outdoors, Ikura is a loner like his father, and Jaga is neat.

There, now I can tell the boys apart from a distance!
As before, Hakuto (white peach) wears white and Ikura (salmon roe) wears red and glasses.
Jaga (potato) wears brown but he's easy to tell apart due to his green eyes.

Hakuto: It's cool doing Rambunctious Scamp together, bro!
Jaga: Yep. Let's go make it across the monkey bars three times!

Ikura: I'm feeling a little left out here, doing Artistic Prodigy by myself.
I'm also the only one wearing glasses but they're cosmetic frames.
I thought they'd help y'all identify the smartest triplet at a glance, hehe.

Thursday

Gari: Now that the triplets have aged up all gorgeous, I need to step my game up.
Otherwise, I'll just fade into the narrative background or might even get moved out!
Edamame: Making efforts to help out are always appreciated, Gari.
Jax and I were thinking you could maybe stay to do a career?

Edamame: *teaches Hakuto say sorry for the 4th or 5th time this morning
Hakuto: Hey, my Conflict Resolution's within range to earn the Mediator trait, Mama!
Edamame: Nice work! And hours before your first day of school starts, even!

Cinca: Eh, Gari thinks that she's got it bad!
I finish three aspirations and master Logic, but guess what?
I got banished to the beach yesterday to fish for bait until my teen birthday. *sniff, sniff

The birthday notices are so confusing lately! I get an "almost birthday" notice at noon today.
Does that mean my birthday's at midnight tonight or at noon tomorrow?

Cuatro: Why is everyone always wanting to troll teh forums? It's the most boring thing ever!
After hours and hours of trolling, I finally stop to go pick on the nanny.
Took me forever to master Mischief!
All that's left for me now is to keep my character values in the red until my birthday, sometime tomorrow.

Cuatro: I met a teen named Arjuna Chapa at the Flea Market last weekend and we chatted online a bunch.
I even invited her over some and kissed her a few times, but she's a young adult now.
Edamame: Don't ask Arjuna about her sad mood, Cuatro! You'll ruin your Insensitive progress!
And you're still a teen so how are you kissing her?
Cuatro: Beats me, Mama. It's autonomous! Love is stronger than any age difference!

Cuatro: I'm pretty sure Arjuna likes me as much as I like her!
Since I can't cheer her up or flirt, I ask her about woohoo twice.
And, wow, she perks right up and gives me a "Rowwwrrr."

Jaxton: Lucky for you Arjuna's too old for the triplets, eh?
We need to send her away today, son, before you start paying her compliments or something.
Cuatro: You're right! I don't want to jeopardize my hard-earned character values!
Jaxton: *asks Arjuna to leave

Friday

At 1 am, I return home with my final promotion for the Boss career!

Early in the morning, Cuatro's moment of truth arrives!
Cuatro: I got this! And…I age up to become a hotheaded, dog-lover, perfectionist.
As a teen, I finished Bodybuilder plus three other aspirations.
And, just for you, Mama, I earn all five negative upbringing traits!

Cuatro: What's the mystery, Mama?
Why did you bring me out here in the middle of nowhere, just the two of us?

Edamame: The watcher and I have a surprise for you.
Your watcher and I are so very grateful for your hard work, dear.
Cuatro: Well, you know me, Mama. I'm a team player at heart.
So, what's the big surprise?

Cuatro: Wow, who lives here?
Edamame: You do. Thank you for playing the bad buy and earning all the negative traits.

Cuatro: Hey, look! Why's Arjuna here?
Edamame: We moved her here yesterday afternoon.

Arjuna: About time you got here, Cuatro. I've been waiting for you all morning!
Edamame: Uh huh, I see that's my cue to get home so I can move you over here, Cuatro.
Cuatro: I don't know what to say. We're naming our first daughter after you, Mama!

Hakuto: Sheesh, talk about waiting until the last minute to leave for school!
Ikura: I know, right? First, Mama and Cuatro sneak out then Mama comes home and moves Cuatro out.
Jaga: Dude, I didn't even get the chance to say good-bye to Cuatro! *feels sad

Ikura: Hey, when did you two have time to change your clothes?
Jaga: Weren't we on our way to our second day of school just now?
Hakuto: If you hadn't run ahead, Jaga, we'd be at school already.
Ikura: So, where are we?
Hakuto: Beats me…

Jaga: Look, there's a house up ahead! Good thing, too. I'm getting hungry!
Ikura: I need to go potty!
Hakuto: Well, let's approach the house slowly. No telling who lives there.

Inside the house…
Maja and Magnus, what are you two doing?
I need both of you to help out with household chores while I'm spinning wool.

Maja (left): I'll go pick berries, fruits, and herbs nearby.
Magnus (left): I'll go with you, Maja, and collect firewood.

Ikura: Yo, that scary-looking dude is looking right at us! What do we do?
Hakuto: No worries! I got this.
Ikura: Good thinking! You're gonna ask him where the bathroom is, right?
Hakuto: No, you idiot! I'm gonna ask if he speaks English.
Jaga: Go for it!

Hakuto: Taler du Engelsk?
Man: Huh?
Jaga: Sheesh, are you talking to him in modern Danish?
He's obviously a Viking. You need to ask in Old East Norse!

Man: Hello there, boys! What are you doing way out here?
Would you like to rest in my home? Marry my daughter, maybe?
Jaga: Wait, what? You speak English?

Amazing Sims
Ragnar and Lagertha by alialsim (Tumblr)
Maja Jensen and Magnus Jensen by LenaLJ (Gallery)
Note: The Jensen twins are the new shared spouse options for the Gen4 heirs, who I've aged down to children.

Legacy Score: +2 (69 points)
Parenthood (+1): Cuatro ages up with 5 upbringing traits
(missing only the Mediator trait now)
Nature: Criminal/Boss 10
Popularity (+1) : 103/90 medal points

Chapter Notes
   • Obviously I know next to nothing about Viking culture, hahaha.
   • However, LenaLJ has been kind enough to create and upload two very Scandinavian-looking spouse twins for the Gen4 Sharebear heirs.
   • To introduce the Jensen twins into my story, therefore, I thought it would be fun to learn about the Viking Age.
   • While giving other Sharebears the chance to catch up, my Gen4 triplets will clumsily entertain you with historically inaccurate and anachronistic accounts of their time slip into the Viking Age.
I will probably throw in the towel after a few updates, but I'm enjoying the preparatory "research," lol.

Late at commenting and so many chapters to comment on.
But I will keep it short anyway.
First off your 3 toddler boys where adorable, and so was the whole play date. So much cuteness you could nearly die of it.
Then they grew to children, really identical siblings, amazing. Again so sweet, so good looking. Ohh i am in love with all 3 of them, how are you going to get us to choose again?

And your last update, you really made my day, I am still so happy that you let me make a set of twins, but even more happy what you did with them. That is really amazing!

Wow, those boys are very identical except for the green eyes.  They handsome boys!  I loved your Viking update.  Love that armor set.  I keep looking at the medieval CC and sighing longingly XD  Lovely update, as usual ^^

Team Ikura, reporting for duty!  And yes, he is there to marry the little  Viking girl  :=)
Loved how the update took an unexpected left turn there!  The dream sequences and visions and such have been a delightful aspect of this legacy  :=)
Go Team Ikura!

@LenaLJ
Those play dates were the most shameless spamfests of toddler screenshots that I've ever done, haha. I won't be able to follow all the children's children so closely throughout my legacy, but I wanted to do it at least for this generation.
You would roll on the floor laughing if you knew how much reading I've done about the Viking age lately, LOL! It's been fun.  And I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
My game hated all that custom content, though, so I've had to remove it all and change my plans. :D

Wow, those boys are very identical except for the green eyes.  They handsome boys!  I loved your Viking update.  Love that armor set.  I keep looking at the medieval CC and sighing longingly XD  Lovely update, as usual ^^
@Shewolf13
For this legacy, I've made a new Mods subfolder named "Special Use." Whenever I plan a special update, all the related cc goes into that folder.
When I'm done taking screenshots, I empty the Special Use folder. Those two adult Viking sims created by Alialsims are amazing, but they and their house required waaaay too much cc. I'm working on Plan B!

Those guys are adorable. They also look like trouble. LOL My votes for the viking man!  :P
@sdhoey
I can't tell yet whether those boys spell trouble or not. At least there's only three of them, lol.
And, of course, you would vote for the sim modeled after Travis Fimmel. *winks

@PeregrineTook
Oh, you have already chosen a favorite!!!
I'm glad you're enjoying the narrative digressions. I initially created them as a means to slow down my legacy progress. However, I've since discovered that I enjoy planning updates that involve zero skill-grinding. Go figure!

Sharebears 3.29: House Tour
« Reply #216 on: May 27, 2018, 02:03:59 AM »

Sharebears 3.29: House Tour

I am giving my Sharebears a bit of a rest (at least another week), but I've been planning a tour of the house.
You've seen bits and pieces of the house over the past few months, but the house has changed considerably.
Plus, some parts of the house just weren't worth fixing up until after the 10-children tornado.
So here's a look at how the various parts of the house you've seen so far fit together.

Another view of the house's facade, from the the left this time

An overhead shot of the entire lot. Notice the Wishing Well, feeling lonely and useless in the back left corner.

The lower right area of the house

Walking through the front door takes you into the foyer.
There's a small sitting room and access to all the other areas of the house.
We no longer need so many animal chairs for reading to toddlers.

At the bottom right is the Inspired Area.
A half wall divides the space into a Music/Writing Room and Painting Studio.
This keeps the wrong sims from hogging the skilling objects.

Above the Inspired Area is a bathroom, small Energized Room (for Rambunctious Scamp), and the Master Bedroom with ensuite.

This Master Bedroom was originally created for the founder and her husband.
Currently, it is occupied by Edamame and Jaxton.

The lower left area of the house contains the Focused Room, nursery, and three bedrooms.
Two of the three bedrooms have ensuites. One bedroom currently functions as the Archaeology Workshop.

There are always sims skilling and mentoring in the Focused Room.
Despite its small size, everybody always wants to go there to chat, eat, and everything.
I'm not making it any larger! I'm not!

The two mini-pets, Hamsta and Blub, reside in the nursery.
At present, Hamsta's cage is in family inventory because it got dirty.
I can't remember if its dirtiness gets reset whenver I exit the game.

From the foyer, follow the yellow area to enter the upper left area of the house.
Here, you'll find the dining room, kitchen, great room, and a secondary master bedroom.

The kitchen and dining room, as seen from the great room

The great room as seen from the kitchen
And, yes, that's a bedroom dresser in the great room because...post-birthday makeovers.

Is there such a term as "secondary master bedroom"? If there is, this is it!
When the Gen4 heir is chosen and takes a spouse, they will occupy this bedroom as long as Edamame and Jaxton remain in the house.
Between this bedroom and the kitchen, there's an ensuite plus a separate bathroom for family and guests.

An overhead shot of the backyard, which contains a covered patio, a patio+pool area, and a gym

Just outside the great room, the covered patio has a tiki bar, DJ booth, and some sofas

The pool + patio area, as seen from the great room
The pool is actually larger than it appears here.

The pool is flanked by the master bedroom (left) and the gym (right).

I didn't originally plan to place the climbing treadmill and basketball court on the roof.
But the house's ceiling height is medium while the climbing treadmill requires the highest ceiling.
Because I was too lazy to raise the ceiling, I discovered that the gym's rooftop offers a nice scenic view.
Oh well. It looks bizarre but it's the sims...

Besides a hot tub and sauna, the gym has the usual furnishings and a decontamination shower.
It lacks any weightlifting equipment, however, because bulky, over-muscular sims aren't my jam.

I feel like I could do more with the hot tub room...but it's too much trouble.
Plus, too many items on the lot lead to lagging.

As you know by now, I'm a big fan of basements with light wells.
Here, you'll find the butler's quarters, more bathrooms, and two empty rooms.

And here's the basement room where I tossed all the collectibles after bulldozing their museum on Tail's End.
Moving the collections back, however, has not prevented collections from being judged incomplete whenever a sim moves out.
I don't have the patience to place every collectible in and out of sim's personal inventory every time a sim moves.
I'm now thinking of rebuilding that museum (that is, downloading it from MyLibrary) to store all the completed collections. *sighs

As a one-story ranch house, this home is spread out all over the Hound's Head lot.
But I really like that I can locate every sim at once without having to look upstairs or downstairs.
So far, this house has worked out pretty well.
Thank you for reading/viewing.  ;D

Wow.  My Sharebears look like they're roughing it in the wild compared to the immaculate mansion where yours reside!  So many brilliant and artistic choices there!  However, I can brag that I did the same thing and put a dresser in the kitchen area for those quick post-birthday makeovers  ;=)
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into the glorious house that hosts such an amazing household  ;=)

@LenaLJ  @PeregrineTook  @sdhoey  @dontmindme  @Shewolf13
Thank you, friends, for the compliments on my legacy house.
As you know, I've never devoted much effort to building before, but this year I've joined into the forum's Build Challenges for the first time ever.
I love the premise of our hosts (Playalot and MrsFlynn) that participating entries are encouraged to upload their lots with the #carlsguiderdc hashtag.
Also, it's the first time since January 2017 (18 months) that I've played a challenge where all generations can stay in the same house.
(The Rival Dynasty and Townie Dynasty challenges require the heirs to move every generation.)
So it's been a real treat for me to build a house where my sims live longer than five or six weeks, LOL.

@simfulicious  I realize you're looking for ideas for your first-generation house and I shared a third-generation house, but all the Sharebear legacies will be obscenely rich in no time.

Again, thank you very much for the kind words--they are very encouraging!!!

Sharebears 3.29: Our Chief Concern
« Reply #224 on: June 03, 2018, 10:05:04 AM »

Previously:
   • Edamame and Jaxton finish having/adopting their 10 kids exactly six sim-days ago;
   • Cuatro becomes a young adult early this morning, earning five upbringing traits; and
   • Our three heir candidates leave for school but time-slip instead to the Viking age.

3.29: Our Chief Concern

Ragnar: Since our other home was not safe enough, we've had to move closer to the forest.
I thank you, young travelers, for your kindness.
It's as if Thor himself sent you to us to help with our move.

Hakuto: Don't you have dozens of troops? Why couldn't you just ask your viking homies?
Ragnar: Because this location must remain deeply secret for now.
Magnus and Maja, please know that your mother and I will be going a-viking on the morrow.
As a shield maiden, a woman warrior, she's longed to accompany me on my ocean voyages.
Lagertha: Now you two are finally old enough for that to happen!

Magnus: But I am old enough to travel with father now, too, Mother!
Why must I remain home and babysit my sister Maja?
Lagertha: Because, son, we need you to stay and ensure the safety of our home and treasures?
Can you be trusted with that responsibility? Can you act as head of the household!
You two won't be alone, either. Besides your new friends, you have a new servant, Clara Bjergsen.
She will handle the cooking and housework.

Maja: Did you hear that, Clara? You are to make meals for us and do all the housekeeping!
But you are not the boss of us!
Clara: Yes, miss.

Jaga (right): I don't know, guys. What if the dude's enemies decide to raid their home in his absence?
Ikura (center): I agree! I vote we go home! We still need an A grade for Whiz Kid!
Hakuto (left): True, true. As much as I love a good adventure, this timing isn't great for us.
We'll be teenagers in four days! We need to finish up our aspirations!

Magnus: Oh, hey, guys, don't be like that! You can't be thinking of leaving here now!
Think of all the fun we'll have! We can collect firewood, fish, and do whatever else Viking kids do!
Ikura: Oh right, like feed the goats and chickens or fight bears.
Jaga: Yeah, and carve birds out of wood...stuff like that.

Maja: I can't believe you three would abandon Magnus and I here. *lower lip trembles
Hakuto: Believe me, we'd really love to stay and protect you, but…
Triplets (in unison): Whooooooaaaa!!! (Whooooooosh!!!!)

Week 10/Friday

Edamame: After the boys have left for school, the house quiets down once more.
Around noon, our sixth child Cinca ages up to a teen.
I'm so over this 10-kids thing, I only change her everyday shoes.
She'll move out as soon as  the boys get back.

Our seventh child, green-eyed Gari, stays home today since her teen birthday's on Sunday.
Her young-adult goal is to earn three positive upbringing values.
We're considering having her stay in the house to complete a new career and a new aspiration.
But, really, that's a decision for the next heir. Wouldn't you agree?

I hope you don't think I'm wasting your time by re-introducing the household.
It's been nearly two weeks since we last met and I'm sure our names aren't easy to remember.

Hakuto is the first of our last three children. He loves the outdoors.
He's presently in range to earn our tenth and last upbringing trait, Mediator.

Ikura is the middle triplet. He's a loner like his father Jaxton.
All three boys brought home A's this afternoon, so he and Hakuto are done with Whiz Kid.

Jaga is neat and the only heir candidate with green eyes.
After one more potion and one more Mental level, he'll be done with Whiz Kid, too.

As for Jax and me, I need four masterpieces for Painter Extraordinaire.
But I no longer even remember why I'm doing this aspiration instead of one that's never been completed.
Jaxton is struggling to maximize his body potential, because he's a lazy sim.
Still, I want him to persevere and complete Bodybuilder so we'll both be long-lived.

Saturday

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
Just yesterday, I'd risen to the top of the Criminal career and become The Boss.
Then I quit that career to become, of all unimaginable life choices, a detective!

Let's not beat around the bush. We all know why I'm here.
When I first lay eyes on the Chief of Police, I'm shocked speechless.
She looks so much like my sister Dango, who I could never move back into the legacy house.
Luckily, it's not her. Phew!

Chief of Police Masami El Karmani is an unmarried sim, which is ideal.
I'm surprised to notice that she's a Prime Vampire. Hmmm, I wonder if she has a master?
Since we're good friends now, there's no point in my staying here. *leaves work early

When I get home, I check my contacts and notice that Masami is out of uniform, so I invite her over.
Naturally, she agrees to move in as my secondary spouse, leaving her housemate behind.
Our legacy has now mastered the Detective career.

I briefly consider having her stay, despite plans to have the Gen5 heir become a vampire.
Then I discover that her aspiration is Soulmate. No way! *moves her back with her former roomie

Since I want the outgoing Hakuto to complete Social Butterfly, the other kids start on it, too.

When Gari was trying to befriend Perry Green, he kept running off.
So she switches to having our first child Uma mentor her in hopes of becoming friends.
Of course, all Perry wants to do now is chat with Gari. Go figure!

Jax is attempting to complete the Grilled Cheese aspiration.
Eating 10 sammies has to be one of the most boring goals around! And he has to do it twice!
For some reason, Jax wants to sit somewhere different for each serving.
Then, when Jax and I check our contacts, we discover Grim is no longer an acquaintance. Why?!

The kids just need their three child-age friends at this point, so I invite over the cousins.
The Faust twins arrive first: neat Connor and perfectionist Audra.
Next come the Greens: outdoor-loving Kenneth and art-loving Poppy.

Though Gari started Social Butterfly first, Jaga then Hakuto finish it much earlier than she does.

Week 11/Sunday

We receive the notice for Gari's birthday around sunrise.
As a teen, she loves both music and the outdoors. Gari is an aspiring Freelance Botanist.
She'll get a makeover once Jax gets home from work, maybe.

Edamame: Several hours later, Jaxton returns with his final promotion to Oracle.
Way to go, sweetheart! What are you going to do now, Jax?
Jax: I'm going to quit my job and help the kids with their skills and character values.
And I'm still working my way through that second set of 10 Excellent grilled cheese sammies.

Monday

Jaxton: I spent most of yesterday evening running around town, visiting all of the Grim Reaper's usual haunts.
I don't really want to steal a life in order to talk with Grim about grilled cheese sammies.

But I'm okay with bringing home an elder and locking him in a room. It doesn't take long!
When I notice the elder raising his arm, I rush into the room to wait.

I sit impatiently until Grim's done reaping the elderly sim whose name I can't remember.
After introducing myself, I can finally have my convo about GCS with Grim!

Coming next: The triplets' teen birthday on Tuesday (sim-tomorrow)
The Gen4 heir vote in the very, very near future!

Remarks
* My games dislike the Detective career, hence our ploy with the Chief of Police.
These Sharebears will grind through the remaining careers, unless we have the good fortune of blindly encountering housemate material at a high career level.
* At the start, I decided that only heir candidates would wear custom content. But that Audra Faust is so stubborn.
I've gone into Manage Households to remove that updo twice already but she always ends up wearing it again. Phooey!
* I tend to re-introduce the household every now and then, even if the members haven't changed.
My thinking is: if I need to go back to a previous update to remember what's been happening to my Sharebears, readers definitely won't remember either.
Also, I'm leading up to an heir vote...

Important Notice
* There is a new version of the Faust twins (Gen3 share spouses) on the Community Gallery.
If you've already downloaded the original version, please delete them and download the new ones (household name: Faust-Fixed) instead. Thank you!
