Sharebears 4.32: In the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota

4.32: The Black Mountain Hills of Dakota

Week 11/Thursday

Hakuto: At long last, I can begin on Jungle Explorer!
Edamame: Oh please. You've only been a teen since Tuesday!
Hakuto: Why does it feel like forever?
Edamame: Because "someone" spent hours and hours obsessing over Jaga's dog…

Jaga: Speaking of Quest, I can't believe you made me leave her behind!
Hakuto: Don't worry! Gari stayed behind to look after your precious pet!

Hakuto: My aspiration requires me to be here in Selvadorada for most of it, so I need to focus.
Having the whole household here would only distract me.
Anyway, the local vendors are eager to teach me all about Selvadoradian culture. Level 5!

I don't get much done this evening, since it's already late.
But it's a start!

Friday

I didn't realize that high fitness would protect me against plasma bats!

Papa and my brothers decide they'd rather go swimming than excavate.
But Mama persuades them otherwise.

And me, I'm all about making my way through the temple.
As a jungle explorer, I need to uncover rare treasures!

By the time I finish exploring the temple, Papa's already gone home.
Today's his first day at his new Entertainer career.

Back at the marketplace, I check out the vendor's secret wares.
I'm surprised to find that they sell a sugar skull. Why?
Edamame: On the other hand, I keep my eyes peeled for possible wife material.
There's only time to introduce myself to these two ladies both before we leave for home.

Returning home, I'm beyond excited to discover I have a golden Totecallama relic.
Then, I notice that it's already fused with a Chaos base, darn it.
Never mind, I add a rare refined crystal and activate it on my sister.

Gari: Thanks for preparing pancakes for me, Papa. Will they really cure me?

Saturday

Jaga: A little past midnight, I despair of ever training out Quest's misbehaviors.
I phone the Kennel and request to meet Rusty, a male adult raccoon.
My hope is that the raccoon will have the mischievous trait.

Jaga: Of course, this is the moment my perfect Quest comes barking at the "intruders."
Quest: You have got to be kidding me! I'm getting squeezed out because I don't misbehave?

Against my better judgment, I decide to adopt the raccoon and name him "Ragnar."
He is a territorial, curious glutton.
What is with all our pets and the Glutton trait?
Anyway, he's just for your aspiration. We can't keep him!

The kennel rep ignores my repeated requests to end the adoption evaluation.
That's Quest and me, taking the rep to Bedlington Boathouse and leaving her there.

Jaga: It doesn't take long for me to catch Ragnar misbehaving.
I call him out on jumping on the counter and eating human food.
This is a raccoon who doesn't like being told what to do.
An hour later, though, he does learn not to jump on counters.

Hakuto: Instead of messing around with the relics, I need to get back to Selvadorada!
What I can't do at home is find three rare Omiscan treasures.
By the way, eating pancakes didn't cure Gari's curse. *shrugs

Hakuto: This time, I arrive in Selvadorada with only Ikura, Jaga, and Ragnar.

Ikura: Does this insect repellant really work?
Jaga: Yeah. And, hey, Ragnar and I just became companions!

Hakuto: Darn it! The rare treasures I've discovered count retroactively, but not the rare treasure chests.
That means two more temple runs to finish Jungle Explorer…
Let's go home, folks!

Week 12/Sunday

Hakuto: I wasn't planning to show you my fifth (and last) activation of a mystical relic.
But look at Ragnar, charmingly distracting my prey while I work my mumbo-jumbo!
Ragnar the Raccoon is certainly one devious little critter!

Jaxton: Joke Star was not a thrill-packed aspiration, but it's done!
This is my only unique aspiration, as dear Edamame completed Public Enemy before me.
Earlier, Gari became a young adult and moved out to live with her sister Fugu.
We are presently a seven-sim household.

Monday

Hakuto: We're taking two quick vacations today for those last two rare treasure chests.
Jaga's left his pets at home but invited along a friend of ours from high school.
Maja: Well, I'm a young adult already, but Jaga and I have kept in touch.

Hakuto: I know, I know. You're sick and tired of seeing me and my treasure chests.
But hey! This is the treasure chest that completed my Jungle Explorer aspiration.
Ikura: Yeah, now I can finally stay home to write my novels for Best-Selling Author!

Jaga: You think you got it bad, Ikura. I'm still Tier III with Friend of the Animals!
How can I catch my pets misbehaving when we're not home?

Tuesday

Jaga: In the early morning, we get our birthday notices so I invite Maja over.
As soon as we're best friends, Mama invites her to move in.

Maja: Wow, you have a full house, don't you!
And why's that raccoon named after my father?

Maja: It's a fabulous birthday celebration!!!
Hakuto ages up with Mediator, the last character value trait.
And the first party I throw for my Party Animal aspiration earns a gold medal!

Jaga: Maja and I aren't married yet.  First of all, I haven't even proposed!
But more important, I want her to have a beautiful wedding. No eloping for Maja!

After the party, Mama finished painting portraits of the two of us.
And now that I'm a young adult, I've officially taken over the reins of this legacy!

Legacy Score: +4 (76 points)
Family (+1): Gen4 heir reaches young adulthood
Creative (+1): Gen4 heir + primary spouse memorialized (portrait paintings)
Love (+1): Maja Jensen's 3 unique traits (Insider, Outgoing, Dance Machine)
Parenthood (+1): Maxed 10/10 character value traits
Athletic (0): Joke Star, Jungle Explorer (missing 7 aspirations)

Update Notes
Friend of the Animals: Jaga is waiting to train out one more pet misbehavior before he can proceed to Tier IV.
Of the six "train-outs" required for Tiers III and IV, Quest "learned not to bark" once but Ragnar "learned not to jump on counters" four times. LOL.
Household size: I'm leaning toward keeping the household as is until Ragnar learns the final behavioral correction.
(I'm willing to bet it will be Ragnar, not Quest.). I don't think I'm up to keeping both pets for six more generations, so maybe just Quest.
But Ragnar is so cute….
Maja Jensen: You will see more of her, of course, in the next update.

As always, thank you so much for reading my silly story!

*whistles* Yeah, Edamame, obsessing over a pet for hours can be a bit crazy.  ;)

I hate those bats man!! They drive me nuts.
Every time I take my sims from my test play file when we first JA, all they did was jump in and swim. It would drive me nuts. If one finished their tasks before I could give them another, off they went.

Hey, if you can get the sugar skull take it. Who knows, you might be lucky and get more. Complete the collection that way.

HAHAHAHA, a trash panda. Good luck training that one.

Congrats on Joke Star.

First, congrats to Jaga for winning the heir vote and getting the girl.  I'm glad all the brothers get to stay in the house, though, since they are all great.
Good idea to adopt a raccoon to train out bad pet behaviors.  I think it's funny that Ragnar learned not to jump on counters four times already.  Whatever it takes, right?

Loved the title.  Rocky Raccoon is quite the under-appreciated song  ;=)
Excellent progress being made!  Of course, Edamame's progress on hunting for spouse options for her other boys was also fantastic!
Randomly being able to get a sugar skull when it wasn't the time seemed like a neat way to get a random head start on a collection.  Of course, I had that random moment of Day of the Dead celebrants showing up for no reason, so maybe the skulls have just forced their way into the game even when they're out-of-season?  Weird.
Looking forward to Jaga and Maja's relationship developing as the story moves forward  :=)

Just like our NPC gardening who is tidying up our garden, I (the watcher) have been busily doing a factory reset, repairing my game, and testing all of my CC and my one mod, MCCC.
Although she appears to be weeding multiple plants at once, my Last Exception files ALL claim that she is "fake-performing" (their words), even with zero mods installed.
I feel the need to play another file for awhile until it's safe to return to the Sharebears.  Tricks or Treats, anyone?

P.S. Thank you for your comments above. I will respond them on the occasion of my next update. :D

@LenaLJ
Maja is such a lovely sim! I really enjoyed dressing her up.
The combination of Jungle Explorer with Best-Selling Author and Friend of the Animals was not a very smart idea at all.
Thankfully, Jungle Explorer is behind us but I'm still tempted to send Hakuto back to complete the rare treasures collection. We're missing 4 pieces.

*whistles* Yeah, Edamame, obsessing over a pet for hours can be a bit crazy.  ;)

Congrats on Joke Star.
@sdhoey
With high fitness and the plasma bat bait in inventory, those bats just flew right by. :D
In a comment, Pinstar mentioned that it didn't matter whether we selected Full Autonomy or No Autonomy, but that setting really changes our gameplay, doesn't it?
I might disable autonomy during a future temple exploration. It's really annoying when the accomplices go swimming or try to go back to the lodging for no good reason, lol.
Awww, that little raccoon is adorable! I'm starting to favor him over the dog. If it weren't for him getting stuck on counters now and then.

First, congrats to Jaga for winning the heir vote and getting the girl.  I'm glad all the brothers get to stay in the house, though, since they are all great.

@BallerinaHippo
I'm also glad that all three brothers could stay! That little raccoon is not only quite hilarious but also very useful.
In retrospect, I'm wondering if he might not have been stuck on the kitchen counters during those previous "training sessions." Poor thing!
I wish pets didn't count as household members. I'd like to keep them both!

Loved the title.  Rocky Raccoon is quite the under-appreciated song  ;=)

@PeregrineTook
I can always count on you to catch my puns and references.  ;D
Haha, thank you for reminding me about spouse options. She needs to follow-up on all the young ladies she's met so far.
The random sugar skull surprised as did finding Magic Beans in the rare seed packets. But the Magic Beans are quite useless without their tree stump.
Seems like Gen4 has so much to do! Perhaps because Gen3 had all those babies and we still have so many careers to complete.
I'm very eager to see Jaga and Maja's nooboos, but we're not moving anyone out just yet.
And thanks for the moral support about post-patch/post-Seasons bugs. I spent several days troubleshooting and now things are no worse than they usually are, lol.

Sharebears 4.33: Shake a Tail Feather
« Reply #248 on: June 26, 2018, 12:22:17 AM »

4.33: Shake a Tail Feather

Week 12/Tuesday

Jaga: You will glad to hear, I hope, that we all survived the latest patch and Seasons update with our hair intact!
Here's a portrait of our current household, from left to right:
Brothers Ikura and Hakuto who holds Quest, and my mother Edamame.
Next are Maja holding Ragnar, my father Jaxton, and me.

I've been so behind in my Friend of the Animals aspiration.
Yesterday, Hakuto finished Jungle Explorer and Ikura hit Tier IV of Best-Selling Author.
But I finally reach my aspiration's last tier just now, when Ragnar learns not to jump on counters for the fifth time.

Ragnar: I bet I'll be moving out of the house soon, darn it.
Doesn't anyone realize that I've been stuck on the counters and table?
Jaga: I'm sorry, Ragnar. Is that what your problem has been? You wanna stick around longer?
Ragnar: Eh, you just want to try and complete the feather collection!

Jaga: The house undergoes some minor remodeling.
We move the cloning machines and various crafting tables into a basement room.
Also, we tear down the little patio next to the Inspired Studio to make room for a greenhouse.
Although it's the third day of spring, the weather is gloomily overcast.

The greenhouse's glass roofing doesn't really match the rest of the house.
But who can resist playing around with sparkly-new material?

We've bought some new seeds, which will take a few days to grow.
Until then, our greenhouse is simply one big room.
Eventually, though, we'll separate the flower arranging and gardening areas.

Maja: Why haven't you proposed? Why aren't we married?
My body is bursting to be a mother!
Jaga: Well, since you put it that way…but actually, our household is full at the moment.

Maja: It's fine. I can wait. Let's just warm up to it with a couple of dates.
But why are you making me initiate our courtship?
Jaga: Because you've entered the Business career and need higher charisma.
My charisma's already maxed. Plus I'm rather enjoying being pursued.

Hakuto: This is an affront to my masculinity! Why am I arranging flowers?!
Edamame: Well, someone has to master this new skill, right?
Hakuto: Why me?
Edamame: You're the one who insisted on completing their aspiration first.
After so much time in Selvadorada, your brothers are playing catch up with their aspirations

Hakuto: Not bad, not bad! But don't I need to…?
Edamame: Yes, you do! Go work on your daily task.
You're also officially in charge of the feathers collection while Jaga is dating today.

Ikura: Jaga is being wooed by the gorgeous Maja and Hakuto delves into the new flower arranging skill.
Meanwhile, I'm doing the same ole, same ole.
Also, I'm a hapless victim of repeated harassment from our predatorial cougar nanny.
But I have written one of my three required bestsellers today.

Jaga: Before our second date, would you accompany me to another part of Brindleton Bay?
Maja: Gladly. But why have you brought me to this empty lot in the Sable Square district?

Jaga: Because I've bought this lot for my new vet clinic.
Tada! The rebirth of Fifty Shades of Spay!
It may look like a fairy barnhouse but it's my fairy barnhouse.
Maja: I thought you joined the Politician career?
Jaga: That, too!

Hakuto: I finally managed to escape from that ridiculous flower arranging table.
Mama's not seriously expecting me to master that skill, is she?

Edamame: I heard that. And yes, I do!
You're in the Athlete career but you've already maxed Fitness and Charisma.
You have more free time than your brothers and Maja!
Hurry up and collect more feathers, kiddo! There's no room for Gen5!

Ragnar: It is totally not my fault that Hakuto dragged everyone to Selvadorada for so many days!
My getting stuck on counters and tables is also beyond my control.
Did you notice in the last screenshot that all my "things" have been moved outdoors?
Yep, I've been locked out of the house to prevent me from getting stuck on flat surfaces.
But I'm still expected to show dem da feathers!

Quest: Unbelievable! I've been forced into some inane feather battle!
That wily raccoon and I are vying to see which of us must move out.
It's like The Highlander….there can be only one! *returns home with an element

Maja: Come to mama, you foolish boy.
All we need now for our second gold-medal date is to woohoo.
Meanwhile…

Jaxton: I complete the Magic Beans collection!
Maja (whispers): Why is your father standing outside our bedroom window while we're woohoo'ing?
Jaga: You're asking me as if I would know the answer to that?

Jaga: We try not to think about my peeping Papa outside our window.
And that's our second gold medal!

Maja: We're already BFFs; both our friendship and romance can get no higher.
But when I propose, he pushes away the ring!

Maja: How could you reject me, Jaga? After all I've gone through…

Jaga: Exactly! You've traveled so far and so long to come to me.
That's why I should be the one to propose to you.
I'm so grateful that you've come into my life, Maja. Will you marry me?
Maja: Yes, of course!

Jaga: I'm looking around the beach, deciding where to send my pets next.
What is that I see? One of those new so-called scouts?

Jaga: I woke up this morning feeling so anxious about this, our fourth generation.
We are aiming to accomplish so much in terms of careers and aspirations.
But at the end of the day, I feel that we might accomplish our goals.

Ikura only needs one more bestseller, while Hakuto is advancing in the Bodybuilder aspiration.
My fiancee Maja makes progress with her Party Animal aspiration, too.
Quest has only managed to bring back an element and a toddler toy so far.
But Ragnar only needs two more feathers to complete the collection.

Cross your fingers for sunny weather tomorrow on our wedding day!

Legacy Score: unchanged
Popularity: 112/150 medal points

Chapter Notes:
*This is my first day of gameplay since installing Seasons.
*Pinstar and Mystic announced significant revisions to the Legacy Challenge rules to accommodate Seasons recently.

As always, thanks for reading!

Wow, so much awesome stuff in this update!!
Maja's glorious and Jaga was so lucky to have her pursuing him  ;=)
The Highlander reference was glorious and instantly morphed into a Scottish accent in my head.
Looks like you are really having some fun with the new Seasons content.  I'm absolutely loving your Sharebear homestead including the awesome greenhouse!!
Good luck, Ragnar, in the feather hunt.

Poor Ragnar stuck, then exiled outside.
And Quest, shadowed by the racoon-cat.
For feathers, having one of those pee bushes in the garden can help, dog and cat can hunt inside (and then get bit by squirrells...)

As for the boys, good job moving forward and helping us discover Seasons!

And did I mention the house is beautifull?

The house is looking great! Actually, I think it's more like a villa.  Very nice.  Can't wait to see it in all it's seasonal glory.

I'm glad Jaga proposed to Maja, and that she accepted.  I was a little worried there for half a sec.

@LenaLJ
Honestly, I've been a bit timid about moving quickly in my game because so much of the Seasons pack is still so unfamiliar to me.
I don't usually do updates that cover only a single sim-day. :D
I'm also worried that I'm being overly ambitious for this generation, but we shall see, won't we?
Haha, I'm glad Jaxton Faust moved out finally. For some reason, Maja was always wanting to talk with Jaxton. Haha.

Wow, so much awesome stuff in this update!!

@PeregrineTook
Maja is definitely a very photogenic sim! I wonder which Jensen your Rilan and/or Rileen will marry.
Well, shucks, now I can't even remember. Did Christopher Lambert's character typically speak with a Scottish burr?
Haha, I'm still scared stiff to do much with my Sharebears. The entire household constantly feeling Sad +4 or +5 due to the mourning glitch, which drives me crazy.
Do you have Cats & Dogs yet? Pets can be quite time-consuming...

Poor Ragnar stuck, then exiled outside.
And Quest, shadowed by the racoon-cat.

@Tynynounours
As much as I love that hard-working raccoon, getting him off the counters by moving all the counters into inventory or by traveling is simply too bothersome. *cries
I think I might have preferred to have pets later in my legacy, when I had a better idea of what still needed to be done.
Haha, I really hate when pets get that squirrel bite fever, or whatever it's called. So I just had Ragnar hunt feathers by chasing flocks.
Thank you for the compliment on the house. The house has been a good match once the family earned more money.
I'm obviously aiming to increase the family's net worth by investing in the house.

The house is looking great! Actually, I think it's more like a villa.  Very nice.  Can't wait to see it in all it's seasonal glory.
I'm glad Jaga proposed to Maja, and that she accepted.  I was a little worried there for half a sec.

@BallerinaHippo
I was quite shocked when Jaga initially refused Maja's proposal. All I can think of is that hadn't been BFFs for 24 hours yet. *scratches head
Hah, maybe Jaga really did want to be the one doing the proposing?

Sharebears 4.34: The Matching Headband
« Reply #254 on: June 27, 2018, 12:05:47 AM »

Ragnar: That family doesn't deserve me!

4.34: The Matching Headband

Week 12/Wednesday

Jaga: Our watcher's been trying to learn about bees these days.
She read a sci-fi novel, The Bees, narrated from the perspective of a female worker bee.
It's a great story, I hear, but it hasn't really helped me become a better beekeeper.

Oh yeah, have you noticed I changed my look lately?

I'm not sure how he did it, but Hakuto finagled his way out of mastering flower arranging.
Instead, Mama's been at it. She's level 8 already!
I've even moved my crafting table into the greenhouse to do lab work at her side.

Hakuto already had maxed fitness, so he made short work of the Bodybuilder aspiration.

Ikura writes his third bestseller this morning.
He's just waiting forl his publishing royalties to reach $25,000.

While surveying Cavalier Cove for a flock Ragnar can chase, I spot this guy.
I realize it's cold today but, hey dude, it's still spring!

After two days, you'd think Papa would find the missing space rock in our collection.
Oh well. He crashes the rocket ship and gets dazed, so we at least get an Essence of Dazed.

This morning, I mistakenly choose PTO when my work alarm goes off. Shoot!
But both Maja and Hakuto go to work today.
As soon as Hakuto gets home at 9 pm, Maja and I are getting married!

Happily, we complete our feather collection!
Thanks so much, Ragnar!

Though I hadn't intended to miss work, I've spent the day productively.
My vet skill is level 5 and I've made a lot of progress with Friend of the Animals.
I might be able to finish it in one full day where the whole family is off work!

It's quite late when we finally phone in our wedding party.
We're throwing it at the Resort Wedding Lounge in Oasis Springs.

Maja: Oh, Jaga! This is all so lavish. I hadn't expected this at all.
Jaga: Did you live on that island all your life until our watcher came and got you?
Maja: Yes, I was born in one house then, around the time you visited, we moved to a second home.
Jaga: Race you to the wedding arch!

Maja: When we first met as children, I never wanted you to leave.
Living there in the coastal wilderness, I clung to the hope of seeing you again.
Then, ten years later, your watcher arrived to bring my brother and I to your world.
Jaga, I have traveled across nearly two millennia to be here.

Jaga: I'm not one to make romantically dramatic exclamations.
Know that my love for you shines true and clear, an eternal flame.

Jaxton: You are weeping, darling Edamame.
Edamame: Yes, look! Jaga's headband matches Maja's wedding gown!

Jaga: Hiring my sister Fugu as the caterer doesn't work out so well.
She makes two cakes, but no meal-type food at all. Our bartender is a no-show.
It's fine. I simply buy a buffet table with a fountain of mirth.

Maja is joyful and lovely throughout the reception.

Most of our wedding guests, however, act sad and gloomy.
That new mourning glitch is seriously ruining everyone's quality of life.
And don't even get me started on how it slows down career promotions.

How great to see Maja's twin brother Magnus at the wedding!
It's very fitting that he resides at The Lighthouse, the home of their servant's descendants.

Maja: Another gold medal party!
How could I have ever completed this Party Animal aspiration on that wretched island?

Thursday

Jaga: Let's try for baby even though it's past midnight.
Maja: Are you hoping for triplets?
Jaga: What gives you that idea?
Maja: Just now, your mother moved out your father and your two pets.
Jaga: Actually, I'm hoping for twins.

Jaga: Dare I ask what we are doing, darling?
Maja: This is an ancient Nordic ritual to ensure twins and prevent triplets.
Jaga: Uh huh…

With the next generation on its way, Maja is ready to throw another party.

After Maja ends her gold-medal dinner party, I leave for my first day of work.
An hour later, Maja and Ikura leave for work as well.
Hopefully, the four of us will come to share somewhat similar work schedules.
Wish us luck!

Chapter Notes:
*It's taking me time to get used to having Seasons in my legacy game.
I have seasons set to 7 days each now, with the option of extending to two weeks later.
*I'm still figuring out how best to tackle the many careers and remaining aspirations.
*Up next: Meet the fifth generation as nooboos and toddlers!
