Shift-Click Needs Moodlet
« on: September 01, 2011, 07:58:41 PM »
I just found out that shift-clicking a need moodlet adds an action to fulfill it to the queue. Ex: Shift-clicking hungry moodlet added "Eat Watermelon" to the queue. Never knew about this till now.  :o

Is this with or without testingcheats on?

I'm not sure, I will check. I had it on but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. This doesn't remove the moodlet, it adds the action to fulfill the moodlet (like hungry) to the queue, in case you are thinking of something else.

I know that if you have testingcheats on then it will delete the moodlet and fill up the needs bar.

What patch do you have?

How can I check? I don't think I'm up-to-date. I probably have to update.

Bottom right corner of the Launcher. The Base Game icon (when you hover over it) should say "1.24.something". Also, Ctrl+Click removes it. I'm sure Shift-Click works.

That's a neat trick. If you have the smelly sock icon moodlet and shift click it, it puts take a shower in the action queue.
That will save time finding the shower and click on it the telling him to take a shower. Wonder what else it works with.

Edit:
Do some testing with the cheats on I ran his bars down to try the shift click trick.
When he was hungry it queued up make waffles.
When he was stressed it queued up watch tv.
When had to go the the bathroom it queued up go to bathroom.
When his social was low and had the lonely icon that queued up to visit someones house. The Colbys this time.

Edit again:
Just figured out you don't need to hold the shift key for it to work. Just a left click does the same thing.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

No need for Shift, just a simple click on negative moodlet will queue appropriate action if it is available (if hunger is down they will make a meal, get leftovers, or even eat a fruit from inventory). This is possible for a while now - at least I use it.
Be aware that sometimes your Sim will drink coffee or nap instead of sleeping, and similar not expected ways to increase need bar.

I'm with Anushka on this.  No cheats need to be enabled, no shifting is needed.  Just click!  It's very handy when you're playing with more than one Sim and they aren't together.  You can click on the moodlet to get the remote Sim to take care of the need without moving the camera over to the Sim.
