How does the flying vacuum compare to the brooms?

I haven't saved up the points for it yet and was wondering if anyone knows how it compares to the brooms you can buy. Is it faster or anything special about it other than the looks.

I haven't had it myself yet, but I have seen it in action.  It doesn't seem to go any faster than the brooms and there is no moodlet after riding it, though it was only ridden to the shops, so I am not sure if there is a moodlet after the joyride and stunts. No other effects on it, just looks really quite funny.
