I have a bug in my file, where my fairy can't go up or down any stairs in the lot. She just disappears while doing it and goes back up or down where she started. It's only affecting that household member, the others are fine. I already tried resetSim and restarting the game (and the laptop) and it didn't work. I remember I fixed this once by evicting the sim or the family and then bringing him/them back. So... do I have permission to do that? And if that doesn't work, is it OK to go back to my previous save?

I know you say it's only effecting one household member but did you try replacing the stairs just in case?  I hate to say use Edit Town if something like replacing the stairs does work.

Do you mean a field trip?

Yes, that's it! For the life of me, I could not remember the proper name.  ::)

I thought field trips were part of a school day.  If it doesn't fill an opportunity slot, why would it count as an opportunity?

Edit: Metro thought they filled the opportunity slot because it's been that long since he got one.   If it doesn't fill an opp slot it can't be considered as an opp for the requirements.

Oh, right. Thanks for responding so quickly! I was kind of grasping at straws. My werewolf heir, Tomjon, had ONE day left before his teenage birthday and he has had no opportunities come up! I had just finished posting, went back to my game, and voilą! The Scavenger Hunt opportunity came up. He was just able to complete it before he aged up. So that's me satisfied, the requirements satisfied, and you got a chance to laugh at Metropolis Man!  :P

Hi guys,

Since the birth of my 2nd gen triplets I have a weird flat pitch black oval shape on the floor in the dining room. If I hoover over it, the game says the standard sentence that "you can't remove an object in use". It is not an object, or at least I definately never placed anything there. No sims use anything and it is not possible to pick it up. Does anyone know what causes this problem and have a solution please? I'll try to post a picture later, but I have to check again how to do that first.

Edit: Here's the picture:

Edit 2: I went at least 7(!) save games back and even there I have the same problem... :(
Edit 3: In an old save game I have tested with the cheat Moveobjects if I could move it and I can! It stays a weird black oval flat shape. No idea what it is. My last option is to quit and restart the game to see if that helps, but if not I hope I may use Moveobjects to delete it. (It has a price of § 0,- btw)
Edit 4: After restarting the game it is still there... Please say that I can use Moveobjects to delete it.
Problem? Don't panic! There is always a solution. You just have to find it  :D

Thank you!!! :)

Edit:
Another question: Is it allowed to age babies up with the birthday cake?

You can age them up early if they are a spare but if they're the heir, you have to wait until their birthday and then you can use the cake on their birthday, not before.

Ok, thank you. Well since they're triplets, I'll have them all wait until their real birthday then :)

Even though they are triplets, the game will allow you to age them up separately unless you want them to remain the same age for your story.

Yes, I already did that twice. It seems to work for a sim day or two, but then the bug starts again. I even tried remodeling the house and puting the stairs somewhere else but it always ends up coming back after a while. I've had this bug in other files before and it always goes away by reseting the affected sim, but I have no idea what's different now  :-\.

Alright go ahead and try the split household trick in Edit Town before you end up going back to another save.  Going back to another save may not change the bug since at this point it sounds like it could just be a part of your save for that character.

I know, but I just like to see them age up together. I do not feel confident enough to write a story (yet).

Just wanted to doublecheck on this - it says on the first page with the rules that after all toddler/child/teen tasks have been achieved, you're allowed to use the birthday cake to age them up, but I can't see it stated anywhere that you have to wait until their birthday. I haven't reached this point myself in my current attempt, but I would like to be absolutely sure.

You have to wait for the heir's birthday if they are in the infant stage because there are no tasks to complete to allow for early aging.  All other childhood life stages have tasks that need to be fulfilled and then you can use a cake to age them up early.   The quote of me is specifically about an heir in the infant/baby/burrito life stage.

Ah I see, I'd missed that it related to infants only, thanks for clarifying. :)

I just want to say, I do not recommend allowing your Sims to become celebrities for this challenge. Every time my Sims WooHoo they get Publicly Disgraced for WooHoo with an occult! Why is that a public disgrace anyway? It's fairly frustrating.

That must be annoying. My founder married a celebrity but I didn't realize she was one until she moved in. Now they are Level 4 celebrities but luckily the child isn't a celebrity.
