Well the inherited traits, is now getting us into a nature Vs nuture battle. And some players might not like that, and that would resulte in less people playing, and then there's money loss for the owners. -_- So I doute that Sim will ever inherite traits.

I highly doubt it'd stem into a nature versus nurture battle, it's just a game and not every single aspect to do with the traits is real. For example, since when did actual humans only have 5 main personality traits?

I kinda like the idea of inheriting traits, but at the same time, that'd be really annoying for stuff like dynasties.. There's already a feature in place where kids tend to get bad traits if raised badly or something, so maybe it could be that these traits are still bad but pertain to a certain aspect of the parents? As for when the child has been raised well and we get to pick them, maybe there could be like a "suggested trait" but the game doesn't actually force you to pick it.

I think  Sims should have six traits, but make a few more conflicts between traits, and give traits more connectivity.  IE: The Previous Neurotic + Natural Cook combo.

It would certainly add depth and a bit of humor to the game. "No! Stop cleaning the counter, you just wiped it down an hour ago and no one's used it!" Neurotic+ Neat

Mean Sipirited + Can't Stand Art: " Can't you let the poor artist have a little time between beatings?"

I'd prefer that Children/Teens/Toddlers Developed Traits based on what they did, which parent they had the highest relationship with, anda smal;l level of randomness. Being hot-tempered is not genetic (Much)

Maybe, maybe not. That joke's a running gag between me and my mother.

I kind of like the trait system as it is. Maybe make being able to attain a sixth trait a lifetime reward.

Some of the traits are realistic (absent-minded, for example). Others, not so much. Like daredevil. "Extreme" showers? Really?

That's pretty much what I had in mind.  Traits are already rolled when that screen pops up, based on inheritance and randomness combined (maybe also what Mom did during her pregnancy?)  You can keep those or choose your own, if Mom was kept happy enough.

LOL I thought that too, particularly for the vegetarian trait. That trait would've been useful if they didn't always get sick. The Getting Sick part should only happen for Neurotic Sims that are veggie and that's it.

When you "forget" to teach a toddler life skills like talking,
when it ages up to a child it needs extra help to catch up with school?
Just makes it a little more realistic :)

I realize this is a life simulator, but it was never meant to be realistic. I kind of like that Sims have it easy, you know. As a person with learning disabilities, I had a hard time in school, and I would feel bad if my Sims went through the same thing. Yes, they're virtual pixels, but still. Maybe if the game was E for Everyone, and was supposed to be an educational tool, yes, but no thanks. I don't mind the realistic elements, but I like when there's something, unrealistic popping in every once in a while.

I agree with jeana. I think that people say they want realism, and then they realize that they're not having any fun. Which is realistic.

Another priceless trait combo: Vegetarian+ Evil/Mean Spirited. They don't want to make animal suffer, watch as they violently chop veggies  ;D

I'll just say that the worst people I've met often came from great backgrounds. The game is actually quite realistic in how it's handled; a good deal of it is just down to chance.

I once made an evil crimelord who was an eco-friendly gardener. I didn't play him much, but brutally tormenting those who drove SUVs and didn't eat organic would have been awesome.

I love the idea of having an extra trait slot as a LTR. It would also be good if we could encourage traits in sim children and teens (but it gets harder for teens, as they are less maleable). That way if our sim was born with a trait we don't like, we could nurture it out. And you could get an extra 2 traits if you worked really hard at it. And the nurturing trait would make it easier :D

Yeah, sorry guys, but I'd say Sims inheriting traits and making the toddler to teen stages harder is a bad idea. It's much too realistic. I kind of like that the young lifestages are a breeze, really. It means I can make my sims what I want them to be. :)

Yeah, I agree with Sweet Pea, even though I would love more toddlers, actually being Evil, and getting some of the old TS2 interactions like nursery rhymes and them asking for stuff again, I just don't see it happening. Even though Sims is suppose to be a life simulator, I never understood, why do we want the game to be more realistic? I mean I like the bits and pieces, but I like that I play my normal family, but that they have a pet unicorn, and their neighbor is a simbot, etc. I think trying to make Sims into a serious/realistic game just takes the fun out of it.

I wish dogs could interact with the baseball and football, and I wish there were a soccer ball they could interact with, too.  The dog ball is silly and hard to recolor.  I couldn't successfully reproduce a soccer ball, so I settled for an ugly beach ball.  If the dog could play with other balls, though, I could avoid the ugly dog ball.

Hahahahahaha! I absolutely LIVE to meet people like you! Makes life all the things "normal" people fear and avoid. Say, you don't know where I left that green crystal thingy that makes a sim go nuts? :P Don't you dare leave the forum. You are my inspiration for my next Sim!
Wow, and I thought I was the only one…
Hey, wait a sec! Weren’t you that fella who borrowed my monitor cables and never game ’em back? I mean, it’s fine ’cause I found a backup, but still! And did you know that the oxygen thingamajig in the original Sims was super combustable and went up in flames the second some fool lit the fireplace?
Haha, I sound like a total looney right now but I don’t care…

*Ahem* Back on topic.
  • I’d love to see more financial options for Sims. Not only could they take out loans from the bank, they could also put money in a Certificate of Deposit (not sure if I spelled that right), so if they had some extra cash, they can stow it away to get it back with 5% compounded interest later. Deposit $100 on Week 2, Day 3, get back $110 on Week 4, Day 3.
  • A height slider would be nice, but to a degree that the animations wouldn’t have to be completely redone.
  • Returning features from previous Sims games. Only 3 returning objects in High-End Loft SP? Pathetic! Where’s my skydiving simulator already? *cough*deathbyflight*cough*
  • More electronics, namely handheld ones. The Sims was the bomb, The Sims 3 is, ehh, and The Sims 2… downright stupid.
  • While not directly related gameplaywise, I think I should mention this: Expansion Manager. Sick of all the vampires and paparazi and Late Night in general? Bam! Disabled without uninstalling. Especially helpful for those, i.e. me, who digitally download everything. Heck, even Nintendo’s finally caught on.
  • Get Twallan on the team. We all know how awesome he is.
  • Anything mentioned in my previous post that I don’t know how (too lazy) to link to.
Please disregard my double post, ’cause you’re gonna pretend you never saw that, okay?

Controls for occult populations are being introduced with Supernatural and were included in 1.38. Have not patched up myself, waiting for Supernatural, but I know there has been discussion about it in the Patch 1.38 thread.

I might have said this before, but I'd love it if children inherited traits no matter what.  Total randomization is fun and all...The only way to do that currently is to make your sim have an awful pregnancy.

I thought you could already randomize traits when the nooboo is born. (Granted, I don't pay that much attention.) I'm pretty sure that there's a pair of dice somewhere on the trait screen that you can hit and will randomly roll traits. And, if you don't like it, change it.

I would love^10 a pop-up when bills arrive in the mail.  I never remember to check the mail box, and right now, the game only reminds you the first two times your bills are late.  After that, the repo man pretty much becomes part of the family.

I always get the red "It's the last day to pay the bills" box, no matter how long I play for. Thats how I always pay my bills. If they took that away my sims would all end up BFF's with the repo-man

All of my games always have someone with No bills ever, I refuse to let the current one die until someone else has it.

One thing I would like is careers having slightly more meaning. If you're a cop sim, and you ask a criminal sim their career, they should lie or something like that

I think Handiness is one of the most under-utilized skills in Sims, and I'd really like to see more use made of it.  I wish the price you get back when you sell an upgraded item would recognize the time and added value in an upgraded item, instead of just deducting the depreciation.  In other words, you should be able to sell an upgraded item for more than you paid for it, so that being a Handyman could be a viable way of making a living.  And I think Sims should be able to upgrade cars also.

We used to be able to fix cars in Free Time. I honestly think Free Time was my least favorite though. I thought it was kind of boring. But I really liked the pottery wheel though.

That would definitely be a good addition to the handiness skill. Once your entire house has been upgraded it sort of becomes useless.

I agree with the handiness idea too! I think handy sims should be able to fix the items they salvage from the junk yard and sell them for partial value! I see no real use for the salvageable items otherwise.
