Cherry blossom Park

Lot Size - 40 x 40
Unfurnished price - 21,758
Furnished price - 70,000
Bed spaces - N/A
Type - Community Lot (Small park)
Content - Seasons, Showtime & Late Night (there could be parts from all the other expansions but they are the ones I'm certain of) No stuff packs or store content used.

Key Features - Cinema, Stage (includes red grand piano and pink guitar), Dance floor, Orchard, Kissing booth, photography tent, food stalls, heart shaped pool (with diving board), 'restaurant' (two buffet tables), lots of cherry blossom trees, parking lot

Welcome to Cherry blossom Park, for lovers of all ages! Now, what would Madame and Sir like to do first?

Watch a romantic film at our cinema, take a romantic dip in our heart-shaped pool or the private Jacuzzi, slow dance with your loved one on our large dance floor, pick fruits in our orchard (and you may find flowers and pretty butterflies too!), have a candlelit dinner at our restaurant (or a plate of nachos for those who really want to treat their ladies!) or, if you're alone this Valentine's, you can head over to the kissing booth to have a quick splash of romance (well, if you can call it that...)

And don't forget about the pretty, pink Cherry blossom trees that make this park so unique!

So come with your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, crush, secret lover, or even alone! There's something for everyone!

A quick story -

You will see on the second of the large pictures that there is a pair of flamingos. The reason I put them there was because I had 10 Simleons left in the budget and I wanted to use it all. So, I scanned around for something worth 10. Then I found the flamingos, who were 5 each. It made me remember an animated film where one of the characters was one a flamingo (lawn decoration) and there is this really sad back-story about how his girlfriend was taken away and he was just left to rot. But at the very end he gets a new girlfriend (or the same one, I'm not sure) and he's happy again. So that's where the idea for the loving flamingos come from  :)

(by the way, I named the flamingos Smithy and Nessa. Some of you might know what I'm talking about  ;) )

I know we're not allowed to use store content for the building contests, I just want to find out if building the lot in Monte Vista but without using any of the content that comes with it, is allowed?

Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles and the won'ts.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't used any content, just the lot. I only realised afterwards that it was a store town.  ::)

The Organ Grinder - Live Show Venue
Lot Size: 40x40
Lot Value: $70,000
Content Used: All Expansions
Description:  Fed up with flowers?  Sick of serenades under the stars?  In the mood for excitement, mystery, and a dash of danger?  Look no further than The Organ Grinder!  Leave the kids at home and head on down to the abandoned rail yard, where grease and glitter shine equally as bright under the lights of the big top.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the midway, where magicians and acrobats perform feats of amazement amongst the arcade machines.  Grab a seat in the theatre and watch the astounding, death-defying stage acts.  Or take a risk and stroll through the Hall of Mirrors - if you dare.

Grab a bite and let Mesmera the Serpent Queen charm your hearts up on the Jungle Catwalk.  Try a taste of the art of trapeze and swing out beyond the railing, high above the stage and midway.  Dance the night away at the Hearts Afire bar, where you and your sweetheart can take turns immortalizing the thrills of the evening in the tattoo chair.  Beatrice the Bearded Lady is one lean, mean bartending machine - seriously, don't get on her bad side!

There's so much to see and do - get your fortune told, skinny dip in the sinkhole out back, try out poses in the photo booth - you'll return again and again to The Organ Grinder!

Almost every activity on the lot will automatically be shared by a date, or offers a "do with" option.

Notes:
-The venue is currently a Live Show venue.  Due to the venue's hours, the seasonal vendors might show up to work "early" to find the doors closed, then will stand outside all day rather than going to their booths once the venue opens.  They still function as a vendor, but stand in the wrong spot.  If this happens in your game and bothers you, an easy fix is to change the venue type to Coffeehouse (open 24 hours), or to move the booths outside.
-The lot is fully functional as a show venue, spawning a proprietor and allowing performers to book gigs and use the stage.
-It might not look it, but the sinkhole out back is a hot tub, and the caution tape creates a separate room for it.
-Master Romancers will find this venue especially thrilling.   ;)

Building Contest 2013: 3 - Valentine's Venues - February 10, 2013 - February 23, 2013
    Decima!

Congratulations to Decima! You can download the winning entry here: Sunset Beach .

Decima's Comment:

"Thanks everyone for another great contest! BIG thanks to the mods for running it, and everyone who entered and voted.

When I first saw the contest I was a bit miffed as I'd already built the wedding chapel that I posted to the swap shop, so felt a bit 'out of ideas'. Then I was playing the game and saw that the beach in Sunset Valley was a bit boring for such an amazing location, so decided to re-do it. I worried it wasn't 'red and pink' enough but I was very happy with the result. Thanks again and I hope those who have downloaded it enjoy it!"

Congratulations Decima! Comments are now allowed for those that wish to receive comments!  :)

Congratulations Decima!  It's a really impressive and polished venue!

Like always, any comments on my build are always appreciated.  Giving feedback is such a fun part of these contests for me - there's so much you awesome builders put into your work - I'll try hard not to be as slow at it this time around!  :P

I knew I wouldn't be able to do a romantic pretty red & pink build justice like the talented members of this forum could. ;)  So 'dangerous and greasy' became the concept - whatever the result, it was a blast to build!

Snuffles - As soon as I saw your build I knew I made the right choice in not trying for the ultra-romantic, as your park set the bar sky-high!  The couch movie theatre was inspired, and the pair of flamingos so charming.  The colours are great, and I loved the elevated portion of the park you made for the pool.  You did a great job using fences and positioning to create distinct rooms.  The only suggestions I might make was to include a day shot in the images, since the park is quite lovely in the sunlight, and perhaps to try using the terrain paints to create pathways or 'flooring' for some of the areas.  Overall it was such a sweet build!

Ladybug - I really like the way you incorporated black, white, and gray to give an edge to the red and pink.  The venue felt very modern and urban as a result.  The use of the showtime stage items was awesome - I love how you coloured them and placed them (and even made a wall with them!).  Seeing a full bar with mixologist made me very happy as well.  I love having the option for a sim with mixology to bartend at a venue, and it prevents the infinite loop of drinking juice at a juice bar my mildly hungry sims always seem to get into!  The only thing you might be able to add to your venue is a series of paths or walkways to connect the pool and buildings.  With the budget you have left over I'm sure you could've made something really cool using a combination of flooring, terrain paint, and perhaps some flowers, shrubs, or modern flowerpots.  Great work as always!

Thanks for your comment Vinyl ! I always seem to forget pathways . I can picture it and it would have made a huge difference . Great suggestions !

@ Vinyl : Your entry is amazing ! I love the rainbow of colors on the exterior of your building . The flags and sign just finished it off nicely . It look like The Happening Place for any sim to go out and have great fun . There's not a bored sim insight. I love all the special effect you've used . What an awesome venue ! I wouldn't change a thing . Great job !

@ Decima : I just love that curved pathway ! What can I say , you're the most creative person I know . Redoing the Sunset Valley Beach was a super idea . What a great place to have a beach party or get married bare feet in the sand like in real life . That would be so romantic in my opinion . Love the hand statue emerging from the sand , great touch. I'm very happy to see you wearing the crown again.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and especially to Decima for winning. There were some really brilliant and unique ideas in this contest.  :) Thanks to the mods for creating such inspiring challenges.

I don't get a lot of time online, so when I am on it's generally just to browse and speed-read new threads. I am open to and appreciative of comments and critiques on all my builds though. I have a lot left to learn.

Well done everyone!

Rhapsody - Your hot springs are amazing!  I keep staring at them, trying to figure out how they were built. What a creative and cool thing to do - and the hottub works perfectly set in them!  I'm really impressed with your use of the terrain paint to create a very natural flow of pathing on your lot (it's something I struggle with greatly).  The whole park is so well arranged and landscaped!

Gogowars - The heavenly pairs made me think 'aww' - too sweet!  Somehow you managed to make an all pink building not all that pink, in a good way.  The venue has a really nice layout, great choices for colour and lighting, and lovely landscaping.  I really like the build.  Nice screenshots too, by the way!

Decima - Your work always has such a detailed, polished, practiced feel to it.  It's obvious you've done a lot of building and are very familiar with the techniques and options available.  It's always a pleasure to see the nifty things you come up with!  I love the way you incorporated the pre-made landscape off the street into the front of your build to help it blend into the town.  Great job as always, and congrats again!
