Daisy is the kitchen maid at Downton Abbey and is the youngest staff member. She is often seen being bossed around by Cook Mrs Patmore and other members of staff in higher positions than her (which is just about everyone). She admires footman Thomas Barrow but is secretly liked by William, the other footman, though Thomas knows this and tries to steal Daisy's interest, despite not being interested in her.
Bio extension:
(Do not read unless you have seen all 3 seasons of Downton Abbey or don't intend to watch it)Daisy starts to lose interest in Thomas after he shows his meaner and spiteful side. She still isn't romantically interested in William but kisses him to cheer him after his father won't allow him to sign up for the army. He then asks Daisy to be his girlfriend and she agrees, but only to save his feelings. William is soon called up for the army and William asks Daisy to marry and him and she accepts, so that he isn't sent to war with a broken heart. After William and Matthew are injured in the war, William returns to the house knowing that he hasn't got long to live and asks Daisy to marry him now, rather than after the war, as they had planned. One of his motives behind this is so she can get a war widow's benefits. They are married but William dies hours later. Mr Mason, William's father, likes to spend time with Daisy, because she is the only person he has left. He even offers her to run his farm.
In series 3, Daisy is promoted to Assistant Cook and a new kitchen maid named Ivy is brought in. Daisy is jealous of her because she gets more attention from new footman Alfred. But by the Christmas special, the girls seem to be friends, walking arm-in-arm at the Thirsk Fair.
