A new set came out from the store today that includes a community gym.  Are we allowed to place the gym in our dynasty game?

I discovered something kinda neat (while everyone else probably already knows this, it was a neat discovery for me :P)  My decision to deviate from the norm (with a matriarch instead of a patriarch) has yielded unexpected fruit.

My first addition to the household was good ole' Agnes, and a worthy addition she has been.  I set her to work on cranking out paintings, and managed to SuperMax the skill somewhat quickly.  Pretty good for a non-immortal getting on in the years.  This gave me my first masterpiece portrait for my matriarch, Lilith, and ensured at least a couple more masterpiece additions before Grimmy comes to gather her up.

Christopher Steele ended up being the baby-daddy, and I set him about his task quickly.  The first born immortal-to-be, Belial, was born well before the first week was out.  And here's where I had two fortunate strokes of luck.  First of all, the good camera turned up at the consignment store (no book though).  I managed to get photos of Lilith and Belial both taken by Christopher...so they should skyrocket when he joins Agnes in Grimmy's fold.  The second stroke of luck was that Agnes managed to squeeze off her 5 masterpieces half way through Belial's toddler years.  It only took a couple attempts to his masterpiece portrait in the museum before he aged up.  And his was in the museum a day before Lilith's was.

Here's where the discovery comes in:  I decided for her to continue to have children.  I don't think Agnes is going to hang, so I want to have an artistically inclined mortal around to paint a masterpiece for Lilith's golden years.  After having a second child, I decided that a third child, working a rabbit-hole job, would help add much needed finances to purchase properties for the second generation.  The day before Lilith was due to age up, Christopher fulfilled the duties of "mortal concubine" once more.  The next day, I get the "It's Lilith's birthday!" message.  A couple hours later she's prego.

Apparently, sims don't age up if their in the motherly way.  This gave me a couple of precious extra days to work on her requirements.  Days she needed, since she started at young adult instead of a toddler.  And all done without cheating.

No, that requires using Edit Town, which is off limits.  You'll just have to use the gym that originally comes with the town.

Oh, she did marry him, but it was a marriage of convenience, really.  Convenient because he was the only single male in Sunset Valley that I could think of off the top of my head who didn't already have a girlfriend lol.  Plus, he's a Natural Cook, which means he'll excel in the culinary field, learn the Cooking skill quickly and will be able to whip up her first batch of Ambrosia until she can learn to make it herself.  Nothing more convenient than that lol.  And let's talk whirlwind romances, shall we?  She went over to his house just after 9 am, and by 6 pm they were married.  She's more of a tornado, I guess. :P

Of course, seeing as how she's immortal (or will be, anyways), the words "till death do us part" sort of mean something more akin to "for now."

I have a best friend question, actually two.

First, My sim was best friends with someone and that put a star next to them in the sim relationship screen, but now they are old friends does that still count?

Second, Do you have to have 6 best friends at the time of eating ambrosia for the first time or can it be that you had 6 best friends through out your life? Example Molly French was a BF, but she just died do I need to get another BF before consuming Ambrosia for the first time?

The real question is have they fixed the stinking gym bug yet? I saw the gym on TS3 and it looks cool.

I do know you have to have six best friends at the time of eating ambrosia.  If someone dies before you eat ambrosia for the first time, you need to find another best friend to equal six before eating it.

Old friends count, because you have to reach best friend before old friend. :)

Is that right?  I never knew that - here I've been trying to figure out whether the old friends were actually good enough friends to qualify!

I didn't think Old Friends had to be Best Friends first.  But either way, if Old Friends have the same amount in the relationship bar and are next to a Best Friend, they count.

From what I understand:  if the bar is all the way green, then you can be sure that it counts.

Second, Do you have to have 6 best friends at the time of eating ambrosia for the first time or can it be that you had 6 best friends through out your life? Example Molly French was a BF, but she just died do I need to get another BF before consuming Ambrosia for the first time?

You need to have 6 best friends showing on your relationship panel at the time you eat Ambrosia for the first time.  So since Molly has passed on, she no longer counts.

Maybe I spoke to soon, I guess old friend depends on how long they have been at least friends.  I shouldn't have posted on assumption. I stand corrected and next time will make sure of something or at least think about what I post before I post.  :)

Hi. I just started a trial run of the dynasty challenge - I have to check out if it works for me  :)
Is anyone else here working on this right now or am I not allowed to ask that before I read all 192 pages in this thread?

Anyway, I just registered and wanted to say Hi :)

Nope. We're all done and you'd be the sole player!  :D Just kidding, of course. This is not associated the the 2011 Tournament, so the hush hush nature of those challenges do not carry over to here in this thread. So, ask away. And welcome to the forum.

Mortals could even SuperMax a skill, regardless of what any of the immortals are doing.  Mortals have no restrictions at all, aside from once they become a part of the household, they can't move out and you can't set up situations with the intent of encouraging Grimmy to come and collect them earlier than he would of his own accord.  They can even use the Midlife Crisis reward.

Which is handy, I must say...Agnes is so not a morning person.   ;)

This is for all of you who pick Agnes for your co-founder.  In my Garden of Eatin' challenge, she's put on a little weight.

Wowzers!

Oddly enough, I've never had a sim gain weight who wasn't hefty to begin with.  Just like real life, once you take those extra pounds off, it's easy to put them back on!

Ok, another silly question:

  • The firstborn child of any generation is targeted as an immortal

When you say "Firstborn child of any generation," do you mean that the first child brought home from the hospital, or does this specifically imply the firstborn of the firstborn?

Example:  Let's say the patriarch of the family has 2 children.  The eldest of this new generation is obviously the immortal of his/her generation.  But let's say that both children marry and both have children of their own, but the second born has a child before the firstborn does.  Would that child be the immortal-in-training of the 3rd generation, or would it still fall to the firstborn to continue the immortal legacy?

The first child that is born in the dynasty is the heir and then her child is the heir and so on.  I am not really sure that the second child can have children and even if they did, I do not think it counts as an heir.  Just like in the case of twins.  The firstborn that you name is the heir, the second has to live in the household and die of old age.  I don't think I have heard of anyone that has had twins have the second twin have a baby.  I don't think it works like that.  They would not count as heirs.  It does get pretty confusing, but I just go in order and you do not really want to have that many at the beginning of the dynasty.  You have to save room for future heirs.  Right now I have 8 and it is more than I can handle and it keeps ya on your toes, that is for sure.  I know that this thread is long, but it has alot of valuable information about the dynasty.  Good luck. :)

@Hosfac:

All heirs must be the firstborn of the firstborn.  In your example, the second child is not the heir, so it wouldn't matter if he/she had a child before the first child did or not.  And as Salty said, it's not a good idea to let any others marry and have children because nobody can ever move out of the Dynasty house.  All must live there until their natural deaths.  For example, if the founder has 2 children and both marry and have children, that puts 8 people in your house at the 3rd generation.  The founder's spouse would probably die soon after, which would allow your 3rd generation to marry, but no children could be born until another dies.  You have to think long term when planning your strategy.  Don't bite off more than you can chew at the start.

In my dynasty, my current heir constantly has the "Hunted" moodlet. There are never any vampire paparazzi or other vampires near by. Would it be okay if I used the cheat to remove this?
