Spar tournament problem

When I call the next challenge opponent, that sim always tells me that something suddenly happens and he or she can't come, how to fix this?

If they live in town you can try going over to their house to challenge them, I've done that in the past when they have given me that message and found they are at home. It should say challenge to ranked sparring match when you talk to them.

Or it could be that they are stuck somewhere, China is notorious for stuck sims so perhaps try resetting them then calling again.

In addition to Turoskel's comments, I've had that message come up when the other Sim's needs were too low for him/her to spar.  In those cases, if I give it some time and phone again later or the next day, the Sim will come.  Another thing that sometimes happens is if your opponent is one of the merchants - they never leave the stores.  If your opponent is a merchant, what you can do is go to the store and challenge them there.
