How to get a dxdiag?

Easiest way:

Click the Start button and type in dxdiag in the search box. It should pop-up an .exe file (dxdiag.exe) Click that to run the tool. To save a copy to send to someone, click the Save All information in the lower middle part of the menu. This will save a text file of the information.

Notes About a dxdiag

In simple terms, when someone asks for your "DxDiag" file, they are asking about your computer's information. Also known as Specifications.

This is information such as it's processor, speed, memory, video card, hard drive, and other hardware, etc. It is used to help troubleshoot issues you might be having with your computer. It can be saved as a text file and shared by attaching it to a message, email or uploaded to a file sharing site such as drop box.

In more detail -  This program reports detailed information about the DirectX components and drivers installed on your system.

DxDiag ("DirectX Diagnostic Tool ") is a diagnostics tool used to test DirectX functionality and troubleshoot video- or sound-related hardware problems. DirectX Diagnostic can save text files with the scan results.

Is DxDiag a privacy concern?

- Generally, no. The only privacy concern would be your computer name, which can easily be deleted before posting.
