Is there a reason that baked items are grouped with cooked dishes as museum items? I was wondering since books (writing skill) and comedy books are separate categories. Also, paintings are separate from Mathematical diagrams because they are based on different skills. Similarly, cooking and baking are different skills and each of them count toward the 3 maxed skills goal.

No specific reason, just didn't think about it when we first classify them.  Is it better if we separate all 3 meals into 3 different categories?

I think baking should certainly be separate. I'm not sure about Gourmet Cooking. It is a different skill, but is linked to cooking in that you can't start the skill without having Level 5 Cooking. That one is more iffy to me.

We could certainly put baked goods in its own category, but don't they spoil over time?  I don't think the Master Chef "Fresh Chef" reward trait works with baked goods, does it?

If all the baked goods is rotting in the museum, there really is no point in putting them as a separate category.

Hmm. I don't know if they spoil with Fresh Chef or not, but I see your point. There are higher value items to contribute if the Sim has completed Master Chef and since two heirs can't complete the same aspiration I guess it is a moot point.

Can someone confirm Fresh Chef reward trait works with baked goods or not?

@Nutella: I've never seen my chef's baked goods spoil, but I'll check later today.

EDIT: No freshness timer on her baked goods, just like with her regular dishes. Not very surprised. The game treats it all as food.

Sorry, I haven't been playing/keeping up in the past year or so, but while we're on the topic of food items, was a solution ever developed for the 'the ghosts keep eating my food' problem? Can meals be stored/displayed in the fridges that came with GTW, or will sims/ghosts still try to eat them?

In a similar vein, I was going to have books as one of my heirs' items, but I feel like I would run into similar problems with sims trying to read/put away books. Those at least can easily be moved back from the shelf and wouldn't result in a fail (as the item isn't destroyed, just moved), but is there any way to put books 'on display' permanently?

I don't know if there is a solution. I just make sure ghosts don't get on my dynasty lot

We are just going to keep them as one category, its food.

MissZoef is right, don't think there is a solution for ghosts wandering through walls.

@Whirligig
If books, easy enough to move them back from bookshelves.  If food, keep ghost away from your lot - do not have any tombs on your lot, keep tombs in family inventory or personal inventory.  Although I have read from players that if you are using Ambrosia as your meal option, the ghost won't eat it.  Can't confirm 100%, so better be safe than sorry and keep ghost away.

Ghosts definitely will go into your fridge and help themselves.  They also will mix drinks and brew tea or coffee.  I locked my grave area to keep my Sims out.  After having done that my one and only ghost would appear in the graveyard but so far has not come back into the house.  So far being the operative words.  Don't know for sure if locking doors and/or gates will keep them out indefinitely.

So by locking them out you mean just locking the doors? I somehow assumed they would ignore that. Good to know.

Ahh, that explains why one of my ghosts wouldn't leave the cemetery (even though his living wife kept trying to woohoo with him. ;) ). I just thought they would float through the walls around the gate. I'll keep an eye on it, but I think you may be right, Joria.

Are there rules regarding the lot traits yet? They were added in the recent patch, and I was wondering whether or not they would be allowed.

@Narinn2045: It's being discussed via PM. Hold off on using them until we reach a verdict.

Though I can say for certain that they'll be auto-banned for the Tournament, so there's that!

@Narinn2045 and @Trip

Actually, the lot traits have been officially banned by @Metropolis Man for this year's last tournament challenge.

At what point do we have to 'decide' which aspirations are going to be the 'unique' aspirations? Is it when they eat ambrosia, or is if automatically the first two unique aspirations they complete?

From what I've planned out, my Gen 2 heir is meant to do the Big Happy Family aspiration as one of her unique ones, but if I, for example, reach a point where she's getting warnings from Grim before she has 4 grandchildren, or is good friends with 4 grandchildren, I would want a back up plan (I should be able to do it. Heir gets married and has a kid, spare serves function of pollinator and has 3 kids outside the house. But I still want a plan B). At the moment, one of my 'open to anyone' aspirations is Angling Ace, purely because in my planning, there wasn't a particular sim I wanted to give it to, but no one has completed it yet.

So I'll get Gen 2 heir to work towards and hopefully complete Angling Ace, without letting anyone else have a got at it initially. If I get warnings before Big Happy Family is finished, I'll count Angling Ace as one of her two Unique aspirations and away we go. But if she completes Angling Ace before she completes Big Happy Family, and I still successfully get Big Happy Family done in time, can I still count Big Happy family as her 1 unique aspiration, so that other Immortals could do Angling Ace if they so desired?

Or is it a case of she completed Bestselling Author and Angling Ace first, so those two must count as her Unique Aspirations?

Does that make sense?

Lot Traits - not a huge issue with me for Dynasties, but let's have other team members weigh in.

The way I understand it is that you can switch at will as long as the founder or another heir has not completed the aspiration. Once a founder or heir eats ambrosia, then whatever they did is confirmed and cannot be changed. So, say your founder completes Master Chef, Master Mixologist, and Freelance Botanist. Two of those must remain unique, but one can be shared. No heir may claim any of those three as unique. So, you decide that Freelance Botanist will be shared. Once a second heir completes any aspiration, that can no longer count as unique. They can still work on claimed aspirations for points, but you have to be very careful that they don't complete the final milestone or you fail the dynasty.

If you have two Sims complete the same aspiration before ambrosia is eaten, then that aspiration automatically becomes shared and both Sims would each need two unique aspirations in order to complete their goals. In other words, nothing is "set" until ambrosia is eaten. Just be sure you have 16 unique aspirations and all can share any of the remaining ones. Does that make sense?
