So, I've run into what is apparently a known bug to EA, although it was quite unknown to me. I didn't intentionally choose a buggy aspiration. :(

My founder has the Friend of the Animals aspiration, and adopted two dogs right off the bat to make sure she'd be able to complete the be companions with 2 pets milestone early on. She adopted one dog, and another sim in the household adopted the other. She was able to become companions with the pet adopted by another sim, and train out their misbehaviors, but the one she adopted cannot become her companion nor can it be trained out of misbehaviors. The option just doesn't appear for her to do either of those things when I click on that dog with her selected. It shows up just fine for the other sims in the household, though, and she's fine with the other dog, so that combined with what I've read on Answers HQ makes me think it's a bug related to her being the one who adopted the dog. :(

According to others, a workaround is to put the pet up for adoption and then have a different sim in the household re-adopt it. I'm a liiiiittle nervous that will delete the dog from the game entirely, but I'm willing to do it to get my dynasty back on track, if it's allowed. I wanted to check first.

I have repaired my game, and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Here's the thread where the bug is documented.

I guess my only other alternative is to wait until the dog dies and adopt a different one, or wait until a household member dies and adopt another one? That's really depressing. :/ There's no space in the household for another pet right now, the next sim that's going to pass is the same age as her, and she can't move forward with her aspiration until she becomes companions with another pet.

Sorry for the delay, still getting over all this crud.

Do you have a save that you can "test" this before doing it? I have been reading all the threads for this bug and what crin has posted also. Let me know if you can test it in another save and the results.

No worries! I made a new save and tested it out, and it does work. I took some screenshots too so you can see. Here:

These two show where the companions option is not open, but in the relationships panel you can see their bar is full. The dogs name is Yuka. The weird blue square on the lower right is because I tried to take a screenshot but somehow only took a screenshot of like one little square of the screen, and my screenshots always hover in the lower right corner for a minute before they disappear.

This one shows Yuka up for adoption.

This one shows the adopt option showing up for Akira, so you can see he's the one who adopted her this time.

This one shows that their relationship reset.

This one shows the companions option showing up after rebuilding the relationship.

This one shows that they successfully became companions.

And this one shows that the milestone successfully checks off now.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention, re-adopting Yuka did reset the dog's traits as well as the relationship bar. I'm not sure if that's going to be relevant to your decision or not, but I thought I should mention it. Let me know if I can move forward with this in my real file! Thanks.

I will say go ahead and do this.  I am going to keep a watch out on that thread and try contacting crin to see if she has any news on it.

Can't wait to see how the Strangerville game pack will be implemented into this Dynasty. I say we ban the use of the Mother Plant's option to reset age as it would nullify the need for Ambrosia. Asked about if a child of the hero could use the Mother Plant by reviving it but no testing so far. Right now I am playing through the story on a character and plan to have her get married and bear a kid to see if this works once I complete the story.

I will be looking into all this as of this weekend. We have had the flu around here for the last month and just now justing into the playing/testing mood. I have already played the Aspiration for Strangerville and it was fun.

So tally ho and so on now ... look for the update soon.

Strangerville updates:

Request for Life Extension is BANNED

Mother Plant can be revived but Aspiration can only be completed by One Immortal Heir.

Lots:
Strangerville Overlook 40x30
Plateau Place 40x30
Old Penelope 50x40 (the plane lot, this is your choice, make sure if you use this lot, you delete the plane lot and the bunker.)

Added: Military Career
Added: Strangerville Mystery Aspiration

I'm having an issue where plants on other lots than my own just don't seem to be growing so I can get a graft of them. My founder is almost to young adult. It's mid-way through summer and despite repeated visits to the lots, I still can't take a graft of either cherry or lily. Any idea what to do about this? Can I not get grafts until the end of summer or something? Never had an issue with this before I got Seasons.

A lot of plants are seasonal now since Seasons. Much like plants unreal life. I am away from home at the moment, I know Carl has it in the gardening guide. I will link it as soon as I got home
It will tell you wait plants grow in what seasons.

They're both supposed to grow in summer, according to the guide.

Okay, now I'm home. I am guessing that your Sim has spent time in the area of the lot outside of their own to get the plant to grow? Have you tried to repair the game? Do you have any mods at all?

@Rhoxi Your Sim needs to be on the lot from about 5-6AM. All plants, except those in Granite Falls, seem to grow on that schedule. If you are not there at that time, they won't grow and won't produce fruit or flowers.

It works more like dig sites now and you have to be there at the right time. I just had my Sim bring his tent and camp out overnight. Also, if you have City Living, you can buy a pomegranate from the produce stand and you may still be able to catch one in the pond in Sylvan Glade.

Thanks @reggikko

This is the same info I am getting. But the strange thing is, I always remember that it was always like this, even before Seasons.

You've always had to be on the lot, but it's new that the growth and flowering is limited to that 1-hour or so time frame.

Never picked up on the new growth time, I will add this to my ever-growing list of notes.

I did fish up a pomegranate. Good to know about the 5-6am window. I'll try that and let you know if that works to get the lily. Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

EDIT: The 5-6am spawn time worked! @reggikko

Hi guys!  *Waves at team*  I'm back and I'm gonna try one more time to see how far I get.  It's a bit more difficult at the moment but Ms. Stubborn over here is not letting a little thing like half a brain, (ok, maybe more than half), stop me from writing and doing a new IDC.  I've pulled in a lost to the Simiverse gal that I resurrected and "improved", called Ima Cook.  Yeah, she's goin' for Culinary career of course.  Day 2 springtime and she hasn't spent a moment home yet but is fishing, gathering and cooking, and soon will be gardening as well.  I'm going to try adding a bit of no buy to my game but that may be too hard right now.  Wish me good things with this.  I'll be "watching" this thread for anything new.  (Re-reading every single note at the moment).  Onward and upward!
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Hi Shannon!  Thanks for the welcome back.  And.....already questions, lol.  So, we can place Maxis builds in lots, right?  Like, a restaurant, spa, etc.  At one point we also could modify these Maxis lots.  I found my old game and remembered carrying around a tent I placed for pollinating, and putting things, showers and kitchens, etc., changing the decor and/or adding skilling items, in public lots.  Is this still ok?  I remember what was not allowed was not deleting any walls that changed the general Maxis build.

Have only reached page 28 of my re-reading notes.  Sheeesh!  The horrible things EA did to the game in general!  Does the allowing a larger population density take care of the once dreaded culling issue?

My Generation 4 heir is a teen and no houses in any worlds are occupied. There are still lots of Sims around, but they are not housed. If that matters to you, you probably want to go the pollinating route.

How are you going to get to Gen.5 with no population?  Friends?  Spouse?  Sounds like culling is still an issue even with larger population levels.  I'm only barely on founder so no worries yet. *crosses fingers*

There are Sims around, just not in houses. I haven't sent anyone to Selvadorada, so the game will generate Sims there. It will also generate NPCs like librarians and gym trainers, etc. My neighborhoods have been empty for quite a while and I've had no trouble at all meeting Sims for friends. My Gen 4 heir met another teen at the park at night and she'll be his spouse. I haven't really had any issue with culling--I haven't noticed friends just disappearing, etc, even though there aren't any neighbors in houses. If I got desperate, I would use the one-time repopulation, but I don't think that's going to be necessary.

Hey @Joria I am not home right at the moment. I will get back to you in a bit. But yes you can edit, but do not delete walls etc.
