Welcome to Sims Anonymous, Chronic.  A few of us have suspected your addiction - the 5000+ posts and multiple stories were kind of a giveaway, you know?  But we're glad to see you admitting your addiction.

In August, I got a laptop just for simming purposes. It's the same laptop I'm using now, but it's already a bit worn out.

The only reason I bought a new computer was because I needed it for Sims3.  Of course, I also "needed" a 24-inch monitor at the same time.  If Sims3 hadn't come along, I'm sure I'd still be using my old computer.

Heh, yeah, I suppose, multiple stories, 5000+ posts, why not. ;D

Yes and yes. I'm pretty sure I'd either bug my parents to get a new processor (which is in progress currently) or stick with Farmville forever. I'm glad I didn't. :D
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

Actually, he's like the IF and is slowly turning into a Sim.

Weirdly, last night I woke up and jumped out of bed at 4 am which is when some of sims jump out bed. My first thought was that I had a Glitch. Then I heard a window banging and realised that's why I woke up.

I had a dream recently when I woke up at about 4:54 AM. I was wondering why, then I suddenly collapsed and acted like a Sim dying. I even popped my head up. Then I said "Oh, mum, if you see a little bundle in the hall, that's me. It's far too early to be waking up. Night."

Hello my name is chuckles and I'm addicted to Sims.

My boyfriend (now my husband) bought me Sims Fullhouse from a bookclub, even though I'd never showed any interest in it whatsoever. I figured that since he had bought it for me I might as well give it a fair go and at least try it out. I started with the vanilla and gradually added the expansions that came with it. The rest is history...

I think it's safe to say I have given it a fair go now!

Hi y'all (: my name's Amber and I am a sims addict! I have been playing the sims since 2003, when I was about 8. Ever since then, I was hooked! I got all the expansions, then when sims 2 came out, I did the exact same thing. I played the sims 2 for forever, and then I heard about the sims 3. I got that the very first day it came out, and same thing with the expansions. The first day they come out, I'm already on the way to go get it (: I love this game, and thank goodness it is summer, where I can play the game as much as I want without interruptions. I am a huge sims addict, and I don't ever plan on stopping!

I'm so addicted I bought a new computer that is designated only to my sims. My husband and daughter know it is hands off. They can use the old one for web surfing.

Hi, my name is Daniela and I'm a Sims addict  ;D

It all started in 2001, when I was 13. I had a surgery and had to stay at home for a month, so mom and dad bought The Sims for me one day. Since then I haven't stopped. I had almost all EPs and then moved to The Sims 2. I had all EPs too, except that OfB wouldn't run. Then The Sims 3 was released and I obviously got it. I still have my Sims and Sims 2 CD's though. If I can ever find them in my room, I could totally play them too!  ;D

My addiction is getting worse now though - I graduated from University a month ago and have absolutely nothing important to do but play Sims!  ;D

I've been hooked since SimCity 2000 - when the Sims came out, I was knocked sideways with delight, and have been steadily impressed with every expansion and update. Sims 3 is utterly superb, and I'm hooked to the extent that I bought a new computer in order to play it, as my old computer could only cope with Sims 2 (I still quite miss Seasons and University).

I'm currently in Build mode in real life, so sadly Sims 3 is taking a bit of a back seat while I hammer, paint, saw, glue and sand (sooo much quicker in the Sims 3, and you don't have to work round a full time job), but I've got a few projects on the go which I hope to upload to the swap shop soon - mostly Late Night additions for Sunset Valley (I know there is already a beautiful updated Sunset Valley but I really like to make the place my own - I tend to house-hop a lot to improve outfits, decor, pairings... basically, I'm a control freak!).

I would love love love to have some time (like, days, or weeks) to just sit and adjust the tiny universes to my exacting specifications, but my addiction is not good enough to let me blow off everything else.... yet.

Welcome to the forum, DeLouche. I hope you stick around it's the best place to discuss Sims 3.  ;D

As for Seasons and University, I found University boring, and I will only go back for the lovely Cow Plant (that was my favorite), and I miss seasons terribly. I never fully abandoned Sims 2, and still play, but I was disappointed that you couldn't make aliens, when I went back to playing Sims 2, when my GPU was starting to say "ENOUGH!" on Sims 3. I got a new graphics card, (Hello, Nvidia), and my problems virtually went away. I'm still on Windows Vista by the way.

Nothing wrong with going back to play Sims 2, right? I could never fully abandon Sims 2. Sims has been there for me through good times and bad.

I think I'll share my addiction story from the beginning.

My first experience with Sims wasn't very good. It was SimTown, and it was for a school project in the computer class for Elementary school. It was for a grade, so it sucked the fun out of the disasters and such. I could go back to SimCity, but would I want to? Sims, I remember playing with friends at their places, but I don't know if it was that great, compared to Sims 2, as TS1 is very hazy. The biggest memory I have is Sims 2. It was with my cousins, and their neighbors. My peer cousin, (she's actually my step-cousin), and my younger cousins (their twins, now 14, and the older cousin's half-brothers), and I played the game on the console, with their neighbors (who are brothers), across the street, and would play all kinds of video games together. The older one, is my cousins boyfriend of nearly 7 years, and his younger brother, is autistic (he's not severe, but he's at the higher end of the lower spectrum), so naturally he's hooked, and would bring his TS2 game over. We all made our Simselves, and my twin cousins, used to make Aliens. I never thought to get it for myself just yet, since that game was there. On my 21st birthday, in 2010, (late), my Sister's friend, brought the game over. (Sims 3). That was my first real PC experience with the Sims series. I've been playing on his game so long, and purchased my own (digital) copy around the same time Generations came out. That's where I discovered the magic of digital downloads. As much as I loved Sims 3, I got super sick of the game crashing on me, and realized how much I missed Sims 2. To this day, people have their collection  of Sims disks over the years physically stored on their bookshelves, I kept mine on the Origin download manager. ;D

Sims was a huge gateway for me. With Sims, not only did I learn how to play the game, and all the EP's ahead of time, I also did a little self discovery along the way. It brought back computer knowledge, stored in my brain, for years, a great online community of Sims addicts, and a special go to guide and a brand new, but still legal way, to expand my collections of Sims games over the years.

Oh and all you newbies out there, my name is Jeana, (pronounced Gee-Nuh), and I'm addicted to Sims. Here is my "bookshelf" of my Sims collection:

Currently, I only have one SP, (Master Suite), and the only one not "physically" present is Ambitions, which was digitally purchased off of Amazon, and manually downloaded. Pets is the only physical copy I own, and will ever own, as I got it as a gift for my birthday. As you can tell, I will go back and play Sims 2 every now and then. Yup I'm addicted on a whole-another level.  ;D That collection is slowly expanding.

I am having my daughter send my sims2 collection to me.  I had to purchase the base game and it included Nightlife.  I have all of the games, but just had her send Seasons, University, Open for Business and a couple of SP.  I have played some and I love the slow dancing and stuffing wedding cake and the champagne, but I can't seem to get use to not being able to go all over the neighborhood.  So my point is, I must really be addicted to sims, if I go to that much trouble to play sims2 again.  LOL  I guess I just had to confess. 8)

Wow Salty, I was actually embarrassed by a ton of my Sim habits on here, from using CC to Sims 2. I'm not so embarrassed anymore. I love Sims 3 and all it's features, but sometimes, I miss Sims 2 features, and will go back. My favorite Sims 2 EP is a huge disappointment now, compared to its Sims 3 version. (That would be Pets).

I'm sorry, but I've always felt kind of embarrassed of using CC on this forum. Maybe it's the "no CC" rule.  :)

We have always said it is personal preference on whether or not we use CC.  No need to be embarrassed.  I even had two sets of sims1 for a while, mine and my moms.  I tried sims1 a couple of years after sims2 came out and could not even play it.  I do love Open for Business and Seasons.  A true addict at heart, lol.

Phew! Seasons was my second favorite. The only one I wasn't a fan of was University. I will only go back, just for the cowplant.

I really miss the dinner table interactions though. I think they should be brought back, and available to all Sims but favored toward Inappropriate, Childish and Evil Sims.

My sis and I talked about sitting around the table.  Those sims would sit there forever, even after they were done eating, just talking, quite inconvenient when it was time for work or school.  You would almost have to get them up two to three hours ahead of time, just to eat breakfast together and get done in time, lol.  I guess being addicted to sims is just too enjoyable.

Hi my name is Mandier, but you can call me Sherlene and I'm a Sims addict. I started playing when Sims 1 came out. I bought all the EPs for Sims 1 and all the EPs and SPs for Sims 2 and I currently have all the EPs and SPs for Sims 3. All my friends know I'm an addict and they usually make fun of the fact that every time I had to get a new computer I had to make sure that it would run the sims game. It was really fun watching the face of the sales person at CompUSA and Office Depot when I specifically asked if the computer they where showing me would run the Sims. They weren't sure what I was talking about. In my quest of finding a good computer for the sims I learned a lot about computer specifications.

One of my favorite things to do is construct the family tree of the family I'm playing. I even got a genealogy program to do it. I just love to see how everyone is related.

But my addictions hasn't stopped with me, my best friends sometimes comes over with her laptop and we sent up beside each other and play together comparing our games. Also, my daughter has been developing an interest in the game (mostly to change the clothes and hair styles of the sims).

My daughter is constantly asking me what's going on in the game. She wants to know who married who, who had kids, if the teens have boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. I even showed her the family tree I made for one of my favorite families  ;D

Hello, my name is Izabella and I've been a sim addict for 9 years? (since 2003) When my sister bought Making Magic I didn't get to play much because she was the addict back then but I would sit and watch her play all day. By the time the sims 2 came out we got the game plus all the expansions and would sit together for hours (each in our computer) and play.

When the sims 3 came out I carried on with the addiction and tried to get my sister to do so as well but her computer seemed to simply hate the game.

Conclusion, I now buy every expansion that comes out and play whenever I have a few spare moments.
Sometimes love is not enough and road gets tough I don't know why.

Hi just found this thread :o My name is Monica and I am a Sims addict  Yay ;D I bought Sims 1 for my son Michael(then aged 8) now he is 16 ! I had never played on a computer game before but one night was very bored with the tv and decided to play the game 11 hours later(yes 11) hubbie asks am I ever logging off ? In the end poor Michael and Luke (my other son 15) never really got to play on the game .However when they did I would be looking over their shoulder moaning that they were not playing it properly!!!!!!!!!   A Sims Addict was born. My favourite ep from 1 was Makin Magic, loved making my garden beautiful (and those crazy ,drunk gnomes in the Nectar Press LOL) , from Sims 2 it was Seasons (I also loved the interactions when dating) Loved when the penguin came along to talk to my snowman ;D  .So far with Sims 3 it is World Adventures (Have got all eps up to petsl)
Salty wish a member of my family understood my addiction  ;D they all think I'm crazy
