[BUG] Sims Food Too Hot? *Fixed!!*
« on: January 07, 2016, 04:58:29 PM »
Since todays patch the sims react to their food as if they are eating something way too spicy. No work around yet but if you could head to EA Bug Report and add a 'me too' that would be great.

EA Bug Report Link

Edited: Jan.13.2016

*A sort of work-around*

So a sort-of work around is eating ice cream or baked goods. Neither of these food types seem to make the sims 'fan'. Personally I don't mind the fanning animation but the option is there for those of you who it is driving a little mad!  ;)

SimGuruDrake on the USA forum posted this today( Jan 13): Hello everyone! We are aware of the Spicy Food issue and will have a fix in our next patch.
Great news, fix on it's way soo.  :)

I just added a "Me too." I tried repairing my game, but it didn't go away. It's not a big problem -- my sims still get a moodlet for delicious meals.

From what it sounds like players have that have created new games still come into this bug. So it sounds like a pretty serious bug. :(

I noticed this after the patch also. I tried repairing the game and clearing the cache files and still had the problem. I come here post about it to see if anyone else had this problem before trying anything else and found that Playalot had beat me to it.
I added a Me Too to the bug report.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be any work-around but like MarianT said your sim still gets the positive food moodlet after eating. The only thing it does is slow your sim eating times down a fraction... all the fanning! Dare say it will be patch fixed soon.

*edit: Time to eat doesn't seem effected actually has all the other idle animations have been dropped in place of the 'fanning'. So really, apart from the wrong animation being played, eating is pretty much normal.

I've not had this particular bug (yet), but it seems as though one of the new things w/the patch is the tv channels are totally scrambled except for when I pause it. I really can't stand it!

*edit: Started another post on this with a link to the bug thread to post a 'me too'.

Just created a new Sim and she reacts to strange foods as if they were spicy, like garden salad. Has anyone else seen this? Not a huge deal, just doesn't fit with what she's eating.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum, @prog_frog! I merged your question with this thread. Anyway, it's a known bug. I think if you go to the top post, there's a link to the place where you can add "Me, too" to the list of people with the bug.

I'm going to hit "me too," although this bug is super funny to me. My sim has been eating nothing but yogurt and still thinks it's the spiciest thing ever. I imagine it will get old fast, but for now I'm just trying to imagine what kind of yogurt it could possibly be.

I didn't figure it would take long for someone to make a mod to fix this issue. :)

Yeah, personally I'm not keen on using a mod to fix something that is quite minor. But I appreciate the trouble and effort that person went to. I guess I think that this is something that EA need to fix asap and if modders are doing it... maybe they won't be so quick? Dunno.

So I saw on another Forum (which I don't go on very often, I'm loyal to Carl's) that the reason for this animation is that the default coding was set to "spicy" insteand of "normal"...

It's so weird lol but as bugs go, it's not really a game changer lol although, it does lead me to wonder whether they will still do the interaction/reaction when the food is actually spicy *contemplates this*

At least they're not breathing flames lol although that would make a really cool theme for a Dragon Legacy ;-D

Great, now for some reason that put "eye of the tiger" in my head :-S really?!?

I got this mod and it fixed it.  Usually things like this don't bother me, but I have a family of 8 all fanning themselves from eating salad, time to find a fix, lol.

Pleasure :-) isn't it just one of the greatest songs ever! Ever time I hear it though I think of the "out-take" from Supernatural where they have Jensen Ackles in the car singing along to it! That was classic! Not to mention I think he's the hotter of the 2 Winchesters lol

Every time my sims family eats, mostly the teen and adults, they stop and react like its hot but keep on eating. I've never noticed it until my kid turned into a teen. Is there something that makes this happen or is it just a glitch of some sort because it's quite annoying.

I have the bug, but it doesn't really worry me, its not like its broken the game or anything. I do agree that it gets old after the first 2 or 3 times you giggle over it.

Anyone else get annoyed by the eating animations? I didn't notice it until I played with the sound on (usually I have it off and listen to music), but they act like they're in pain every time they take a bite! As if the food is so hot that it burns their mouths every time! This happens no matter what the food quality is, so I can't think of a reasonable explanation.

Just so people know, the latest patch (Feb 4) did fix this bug. Some cool new stuff, too (or not, depending on how you feel about the Tragic Clown, kleptomaniacs, and the Grilled Cheese Aspiration). Also we got the other prizes from the Halloween contest.

Ok. I thought it was unusual, but I just attributed it to higher level cooks making their food very spicy, or something.
