Here's my first restaurant, The Green Door:

It cost about $15,000 to make.

A few days later, I upgraded to this:

The shot was taken right after opening, so no one's been seated yet.

Here's my restaurant I made awhile ago in anticipation of this pack. It started out as a lounge but I've re-classified and converted it to a restaurant. Have it around 3 stars atm but only been playing it for a little while. It's in the gallery under the name kamxam13 as Roman Around Bistro V3:  (Added more pics today)
NOTE: I removed the lounge in the previous version and converted it into another kitchen and dining area. (Also added an employee lounge) Will need extra chef and waiters to use effectively.
Roman Around Bistro V2.1 of this has the lounge and only the left restaurant.
It is a 40x30 lot size and  IS expensive but it's classy...: ;D

Aerial View of the whole Bistro:

Left Front Entrance: (Evening view and the Day view)

Envisioning this as an eventual upscale restaurant someday.

While not entirely happy with it, here's my first try, a little seaside joint called Pier 42.  Surf and Turf menu and available on the gallery.  It's uploaded as Pier 42 and my Origin ID is MissTrips if you want to download it.  No CC but lots of stuff packs.

Walk down the pier and chat with the host, then have a seat and relax until your table is ready!

Every seat has a lovely outside view of the harbor!

Bathrooms are color coded for your convenience!

All seating is well above the waves, so no need for swimsuits!

Here are a few pictures of my first restaurant.  I created this restaurant for my Build-A-City Challenge when Get To Work first came out.  It never operated much like a restaurant then.  It was more of a restaurant supply store.  All of the furniture, décor, and restaurant equipment were for sale.  It was very successful.

The restaurant is modeled after a restaurant that I worked at for about two years when I was sixteen.  I actually met my husband(ex) there.  I started out as a dishwasher, then I was promoted to bus girl, and then to counter girl.  The sandwiches were named after some of the neighborhood professionals it served.  There was "The Banker", "The Lawyer", and "The Pilot".  My favorite was the banker...sliced roast beef sandwich on white bread, cut in half, with a mound of mash potatoes between the two halves and smothered with brown gravy.  It was served with green beans and a dinner roll.  Yum!  Their chili was amazing too!  The owner also made homemade pie on the weekends.  They were open for breakfast.  Another menu favorite was the roast chicken served with mash potatoes and dressing.  I have most of these dishes on my menu in the game.

My sim has had the restaurant open for three shifts.  It is already 4 stars.  The customers really like the décor.  Bon Appetite!

The counter.

The main dining room.

The back room.

View from the top.

View from the front.

Note:  The small tables in front were actually small booths and the tables along the windows in the back room were also booths.

Wow these are absolutely stunning restaurants. I went with small, kept the host central to the tables so she could seat better and for the most part stayed around 4.5 stars, I didn't buy perks in my restaurant so I could test them a bit later. I think they are just about the only way to stay reliably at 5, though it's really an arbitrary thing. Just paying a bit for advertising gives you the maximum amount of Sims you can have on a lot, anyway. I can definitely learn some lessons in decorating from you guys, as that's its main shortcoming. Mine is the one presented on all my guide pages :P

Here's my first one. I went for a cozy, colorful, hipsterish cafe feel, partly because I got the Movie Hangout Stuff Pack only recently and I'm in love with the furniture~

I never actually named it :P It's themed towards coffee/tea, breakfast food, and desserts. After the second day, I was already at 3 stars.

Here's the exterior, with some outdoor seating. No pictures of the side or back, because they're a lot less picturesque. Landscaping, you are thine enemy.

And the interior. I'll probably have to extend more, as I get more customers. You can see the eating area and the back hall leading to the bathroom and kitchen.

The entrance, featuring my sim/restaurant owner. I'm still undecided if I want to remove the couches I have in front, as customers will sometimes sit and eat at them. However, it seems they mostly just wait for their tables there.

And the eating area, which I quite like. Someone in one of the threads mentioned that groups of 4 rarely show up, and they were right. I haven't had one yet. So, I built the area with that in mind.

Annndddd that's it. I don't feel the need to show off the kitchen or bathroom, as they're both fairly simple, and it's the outdoors and eating area I'm most proud of. It was nice to decorate for once, as most of my simming time has gone to the Apocalypse Challenge.

I was talking with @oshizu about Dining out and randomly had an idea for a Pajama Ice Cream Party.  So this is how it turned out.  I've already put it on the gallery and plan to put it here on the boards when I figure out how!

Here is Sleepy Sundaes!  Serves only ice cream, fruit, coffee and tea!

@MarianT
Thank you for starting this wonderful thread--it's such a great idea and offers so much fun and inspiration! I especially like that you showed us how your restaurant started out and how it grew. I've only built a restaurant in Manage Worlds/Build mode and haven't started one from scratch yet, so I found it fascinating. I'm impressed at how quickly you could start upgrading your restaurant--both in interior decor and star rating.

@Kamxam
Your Roman restaurant is so lavish! I can't even imagine how long it would take for a sim to start from scratch and work up to building that! It's a fabulous restaurant!

@MissZoef
The white and light brown tones of your restaurant are very soothing and the outdoor patio is a great touch. Don't kill me, but I couldn't help but look carefully at your images then think to myself, "But where the girls with the clown hair?"

@MissTrips
What a summery feel your restaurant has! And the little decorative details with the nautical motif are perfect. Which lot in Windenberg did you use?
Brilliant idea to color-code the bathroom doors--so hard to spot the symbols while playing.

@officialghosts
Your unnamed restaurant looks like somewhere I'd love to go for brunch! The layout is simple but the interior decor is so relaxing. I like how you divided up the dining area with screens instead of a wall. @Nettlejuice once remarked that she'd replaced a table for eight with tables for four and that the tables for four became very popular, just fyi.

@Kamxam (again): you are obviously a fine builder!

@Ricalynn
Sleepy Sundaes--what a perfect name! So hilarious that you can specify that diners must wear sleepwear. And now we all know that Marcus Flex sleeps in those pink boxers, lol.
I really like the squares/diamonds/circles of intense colors against the white flooring, with the pastel-hued wall panels and posters/paintings indoors.

Sorry for being so verbose!  I'm just so excited! Thanks for sharing, everyone!

I have at last finished building and testing my IDC restaurant. I won't bore you with the details, I basically did the same thing as explained HERE.

The Sage Parsley

A vegetarian restaurant just as expensive as in real life. Front and back. Decorations were kept to a minimum, I don't need customers or staff going off to explore when there's money to be made and food to be served.

Entrance. No waiting area, my host is almost as fast as Flash.

Toilets, waiters station with doors to the kitchen on the left. I used to have arches but silly customers would go in there to chat to the chef, go away people.

The kitchen is small but functions well enough. Restricted to staff and household.

The best spot. Seriously, it's so popular. My two-seaters were splitting up families and I just favour four-seater tables. The view is lovely - from this angle anyway, the other side faces the toilet, lol.

Bird's eye view.

First try at creating a restaurant. I'm about to remodel and put the kitchen in the middle to add more tables. There is an owner suite upstairs. I had to add a door just off of the bar that was locked because sims kept going upstairs to the door only to find out it was locked.

This is the front of my restaurant --- Mount Washington Seafood (the one from 6-9-16.)

The first version from 6-7-16 had way more dining spots --- by far --- I thought it was better as a restaurant with a hotel, so I made the 6-9-16 version.

It is modeled after the Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire.  I chose to make this a seafood restaurant because of the hotel's amazing clam chowder.

My restaurant's 2 dining rooms have 72 dining spots, altogether.   There are hotel beds, a kitchen and beds for the owners and more beds for the staff.  Two suites have exclusive access to an indoor garden, a library and a computer center.

I used the 50x50 lot that used to be Magnolia Blossom in Willow Creek.  The mountain view from the back of that lot looks like the view from the Mount Washington Hotel.

This is the back of my restaurant --- complete with the curved part of the porch, which is such a feature of the hotel.

Lunchtime in the main dining room --- I just opened the restaurant for lunch a few Sim minutes ago.  Formal attire is required.

The bigger of the main dining rooms --- dance floor, piano and violin included

The beautiful lobby, complete with an elegant fireplace

"The Gold Room," which is where in 1944 the Bretton Woods International Monetary Fund conference gold standard documents were signed.
I use this room as an additional lobby.

"The Cave" is the hotel's actual basement lounge.  There are 18 dining spots.  It really looks like an actual cave.
The bathroom is off to the side, and there are 3 bathrooms next to the formal dining room, and they are also more formal than in the restaurant's bar.

The dance floor in "The Cave" with guitars and a radio

Korma Chameleon

I realize this is an old thread, but the Rival Dynasties Challenges has really fueled my interest and enthusiasm for building themed restaurants.
Where I'm currently at in the challenge, I've already bulldozed this restaurant so I went to an older save file this afternoon to take screenshots and upload it to MyLibrary.
While taking screenshots of the restaurant for my own reference, I thought I'd share them on this thread.

The founder of my Restauranteur Dynasty built an Indian restaurant named "Korma Chameleon" on the Dusty Turf lot in Oasis Springs.

I love the way wealthy Moroccan homes often show a glimpse of an inner courtyard from the entrance, and tried to recreate that in the foyer where diners wait to be seated.

The new City Living clothing and objects were great for employee uniforms and interior decor.

While I was taking these shots, the second-generation heir showed up with her spouse, dressed in their uniforms for their own Tex-Mex restaurant.

The dining area has an extremely simple layout to facilitate faster service.
It boasts several distinctly non-Indian decorative objects that contribute, however, to the overall ambiance, hehe.

Building the roof was the most fun. I learned how to make the domed towers by watching a Youtuber's Sims 4 speed-build of Taj Majal.
There are also two rooms on the second floor so that the household's adults could bring their children to work.

Nacho Mama

The second-generation heir built a Tex-Mex restaurant in the Bedrock Straits neighborhood, also in Oasis Springs.  Here are daytime and night shots.

The hostess stands just beyond the gated entrance in a small foyer.
The work uniforms and some of the decor come from the Day of the Dead Challenge.

The favorite tables are beneath the grassy pergola, next to the Day of the Dead decor.

Oddly, this is a different save from the one I used my previous Korma Chameleon post, but Mortimer and Bella Goth were the first diners to arrive at both restaurants.

Oh, I'm so very pleased by your compliment! Indian architectural styles are so diverse and fascinating!
The restaurant's name, Korma Chameleon, is a pun on Boy George's song "Karma Chameleon" and the Korma cooking method.

It serves an all-vegetarian menu. Also, I thought of you when I built it--I wondered what you thought of the new content released with City Living.
There are so many townies being spawned now with Indian/Hindi/Sanskrit first and last names.
