Yeah, I know, it is sometimes a burden since they translate it too literally.

Anywho, now you must help me to introduce the beauties of fermented herring (surströmming) to these people! :D

Well, we are dissecting fetal pigs in science. I threw up.

I have to wonder, does anyone on here like the band Placebo?

Well, I'd throw up, too.  When I was in high school, it was dissecting frogs and I just wouldn't do it.  I don't remember how I got out of it, but I did.

They always made us pair up one boy-one girl teams.  I love dissecting, so there was always a mad rush of all the boys wanting to be my partner for it.  We did the baby pigs too, cow eye balls, etc. etc.

I was lucky. Brooklyn Tech was the only high school in New York state where biology was not a required class. I got to take physics instead, and I didn't have to dissect anything!

I LOVED dissecting in school.  I remember we did a clam, a starfish, a frog (of course) and a worm I think ... maybe some other things but the frog was the most exciting one.

You'll learn much from it, if you don't have to throw up. Once I had to dissect a pig's heart on a open day (this is the day kids from elementary school visit our school and decide they MUST go there!), without me knowing, in front of a surgeon. Fortunately I'm very good in biology, physics, chemistry etc. so I didn't say anything incorrect. The surgeon told my teacher she has to be very proud, because I only have to be able to do this in my last year, but I still do everything correct.

I was not trying to make anyone jealous or throw up.

Ah, senior biology and the cats. Yeah, my "best" friend thought it would be funny to flick a small piece of cat intestine at me and it stuck on my cheek. Good friends like that are hard to find.

I have done very much biology, but not so much dissecting. One time we were going to dissect some cow eyes, which sounded fun! However, it started with them saying we had to pair up in pairs, and then three-and-three  due to shortage of eyes (are they really expensive?). Then they gave us sheep eyes which is similar to and only smaller than cow eyes, but apparently cheaper. So there I was on my grand dissecting day, cutting in a sheep eye with a vegetarian guy next to me throwing up while I'm doing it. That's budget cuts for ya'!

PS. Did I mention that the knife was like 15 years old and dull like a flat stone on the beach, so I just ended up squashing the eye?

I am actually a vegetarian, too. Have been since I was eight, and am now seventeen, so I've lasted.

I just decided that I didn't want to eat anything that had been killed for food.

During my biology class, my teacher said that I wouldn't have to go through with it (even though we ran out of time and never did dissect anything, anyways), if we got to it.

But I had a Teacher's Assistant class for the office my freshman year, and I was asked to carry this big bucket into the Biology Lab.

You could hear the water swishing in there (so it was obviously water-filled), and when I got there, I asked what was in it. She said, "BABY PIG. WE ARE CUTTING HER UP!" creepy-like, just because she knew I wouldn't like it.

I then got to hear about all the AP-Bio students dissecting pig brains.

Good times. :p

I've been a vegetarian since 1973; obviously, not so young anymore.  Some of us never get over it!

New guy on the block, although I don't think that will last very long. Haha! My name is Michael and I reside in New Jersey. I found Carl's website when I looked up information on gardening for the Sims 3. I'm very impressed with the way the site is maintained and how it provides so much useful tips and advice. It makes a big difference for me.

Hi Icicle/Michael...welcome!  We got some great info here! :)

I would be a vegetarian except for my love of hamburgers and chicken fingers. :D
