Hi! many thank yous to Carl for manually registering me for the forums.

I've lurked and used the resource here many a time but never participated. I'd like to change that now ;)

I've been playing sims since TS1. I got into sims fandom on LJ with TS2, where I was a moderator of thesims2 for years and had what I thiiiiiiiiink was one of the first sims story blogs on there. Unfortunately the pictures are all down since my old web host went down... maybe one day I'll restore it, haha.

I play TS3 on and off but I love it a lot. My favorite town is Twinbrook (I LOVE the feel of it, the houses are SO SO great, the swampy fogginess is great... I love it so much!) and it's where I play my main family, the Rosarios. I don't really use any CC aside from store downloads because I hate waiting for everything to load, I like the look of the game as is, and Create A Style provides much more versatility than you'd think.

Anyway, I quite look forward to sharing my Sims. off to read a few posts now :)

P

Welcome to the forum, patronissimo! Twinbrook is probably my favourite town, too, tied only with Midnight Hollow. I really like the swampy atmosphere and the unique genetics of the townies. It's not a traditionally beautiful town, which makes it all the better.  :D

Thanks, Audren!

I wonder what qualifies as traditionally beautiful- I mean, those old money homes in that town are STUNNING. Pidgin Roost has to be my favorite pre-made big mansion lot. So much character and personality. When it's raining there in the fall, it's just so atmospheric. The Bloc is an excellent home for a huge family to move to. (My Rosarios currently own both lots, haha.) And DeAndre Wolf is just- YUM :)

I was using the term for its landscape. Instead of nice beaches or forests, Twinbrook has the murky swamps and fog. I really like the look of it, but I would hardly consider it "beautiful" in the typical use of the word.

Welcome to the forum, even it if is after you have been here a bit   ;)  I did some lurking, reading the guide, searching the achieves before I formally joined also.

Love this place as the people here are friendly, helpful and just fun to talk to.  And understand how sims can take over your life and not see it as weird that you love the game.

Thanks for the welcome! Haha. One reason is that I never realised there was a forum for the longest time. But yes, it is amazing how many helpful hints and suggestions are traded here daily. Still so much to learn about the game :)
You can say that again! Part of it is that there are so many aspects you can, and will, shape yourself and then see how it plays out. Sometimes it's so 'real' it's scary... isn't it?
Shameless advertisement!

I've been playing the Sims franchise from the beginning and lurking around the forums a lot.  I don't usually post because I have no brilliant answers and I can usually find the answers to my own questions by reading.  But I love the forum and the guide.  I, sadly, gave away my COMPLETE Sims and Sims 2 collection - what was I thinking? But I am really enjoying playing along on TS3 challenges (at a much slower pace because, you know, life!).

Anyway, thanks to all who contribute so much to this site and to our game play!  I ALMOST know what I'm doing now because of all your help!      ;D ;D

Hi Ryan,

Welcome to the forum, I really like the Sims 3, but doubt that I will get the Sims 4, mainly because my computer won't be able to handle it, but I haven't finished exploring the Sims 3.
Can't wait though to read what everyone says about the game after it arrives.  I'll probably be drooling by the time I get a computer that I feel can handle all of the games, my sims 3 and the sims 4.  If they keep it where you can create a style, that is.

The people here on the forum are great and very helpful, so you will enjoy it here.

Hi everyone :) My name is Joey (but i'm a girl, yeah), I'm addicted to videogames and I play the sims 3 since it came out, on 2009. I used to concentrate only on building my houses, using motherlode a million of times and having my motives full and static.
I lost quickly the interest. But during the last two years, I "discovered" the pleasure of playing without cheating, just like my frist saves. In this way I discovered Carl's guides, that have plenty of useful informations. So thanks Carl!
I introduced me to thank you all for the help, this forum is helpful each time i have a doubt.

I'm Cara (not my real name, but the name of my first sim). I'm a new player (only since January). I have a family of seven people in SV right now and I'll post a story about them as soon as I figure out how to post pictures.  :)

Hi, I'm cupcakeunicorn. I've been playing The Sims 3 since it first came out, and have finally managed to get all of the expansion packs (though I only have one stuff pack so far). Before The Sims 3, I also played The Sims 2. This is the first Sims 3 community I've joined, apart from The Sims 3 official website, but I only ever used that to get free content and stuff. Also, as you may have gathered from the name, I like cupcakes and unicorns.  ;D

I'll add my hi to all the new members, I read the intros but don't answer them all, but decided this is a good way to say hi and glad you joined the forum. Everyone here is great, most of the time   ;)

Seriously, as normal sometimes, very few and far between, someone might sound snippy, but everyone has a bad day.

Hello All,
I finally registered after being a lurker for quite a while. I just fairly recently got back into Sims when I caught the Sims 3 starter pack on special at the local superstore. Always enjoyed The Sims and I'm finding Sims 3 to be very entertaining.

Here's a question - I don't know if this is a good place or whether I should start a new thread, so please forgive me if I'm breaking protocol right off the bat:

I've been playing around with playing a lone teen and I saw something on an old thread that caught my interest and sounded like fun: starting with a broke teen, owning nothing but the clothes on his back and a small empty plot, and trying my luck at "living off the land".  Here's my question; how do I get rid of my starting money?

Welcome Pandpants33 and Noldi to the forum, this is a great place to discuss and learn about the game.

@ Noldi, your question of if this is the right place to ask a question, the best place is in the Discussion thread.  For problems in playing the game Miscellaneous  Help thread is a great place to find answers.

@Janna Thanks. I figured it out, though, once I realized that the familyfunds cheat could set it to 0.

HI my name is Yunanesca,

I'm new  to the forums, and only been with the simming community for since last year may.
I found that I like to build Houses and Design sims alot when shortly after I joined I entered a build a  haunted house contest.  I admit I learned basic stuff about building but getting the hang of how to's and whatknots. And had fun doing it  stuff :) although the while I was doing this contest I broke my 15.6 laptop screen, making this even a bigger challenge to do this contest, didn't win but still felt like one even thos I had  lot so fun doing it  and came out learning  alot of things about sims.  And i since now have a new  Tv monitor for screen for now till I get new computer. I'm signed up here cause I find alot of useful  Information. I still fairly novice about builds stuff an willing and always learning.

and still trying to figure out this forums to  so I can put  Up an icon pic  :)

Sincerely, Yunie

Hello! I've been using Carl's guides for games like Sims Medieval, and more recently for Sims 3 (even though Sims 4 is coming out soon). After lurking so long, I've been infected by the friendliness of everyone here, so I decided to make an account and say hello :)
I won't be posting much because I am an inexperienced simmer and have very little to contribute, but I'm happy to be a part of the community.

Just as a follow-up to my intro:

I'm stingy/broke (whichever you prefer), so I don't have many expansions: Basic S3 + Late Night + Ambitions, which combination is keeping me quite busy so far.  So, a lot of the posts here aren't helpful for me, but they are certainly entertaining to read!

Hello! Well, this isn't really my first post and I've actually made my account quite a while ago but I've recently gotten back into the swing of Simming and decided to revisit this forum again. So.. hi.  :)

I like to play challenges and occasionally build homes, but lengthy challenges are not my (and my computer)'s forte.  ???
