Did You Know....
« on: November 10, 2017, 02:10:02 PM »
Having an intellectual conversation with a Smart dog will result in your sim gaining logic skill.
That dog poop makes the best fertilizer - according to the text when your sim picks it up, haven't actually tried it yet as it kinda grosses me out a little.  :P

Another did you know - to age up your pet, you must make a treat on the vet crafting machine. I play with aging off and couldn't figure out how to age up my kitten until I googled it.

There are new types of painting in the painting skill. They feature... cats and dogs. :)

Cat lovers can go outdoors and gather catnip, madnip, napnip, and nuzzlenip for the pet cats.
I don't know how these various herbs affect cats, but I assume they can be planted back at the home lot.

Dogs everywhere are protesting that they don't get special herbs!

Also, my sim couple have a pair of Shiba inu, which they encouraged to mate.
The dogs ran toward each other at the beach and then some special music started playing. So adorable!

When you are companions with a dog certain interactions are unlocked between your sim and their dog which grant your sim satisfaction points. (This may also be true for cats but I haven't played with a cat yet.)

@oshizu cats everywhere are pleased they don't have to be trained and get the catnip too! But let's be honest, the dogs love the process and get walks. I wanted to walk a cat and teach it to go in the toilet though.

One Playalot told me that I didn't consider at the time was that you can basically be your own vet at home and save time if you're willing to study the skill and buy the equipement (from pets menu under sort by function). Your dog might not like it short-term but long term you'll come up with some great treats for him by practicing.

Cheats this time around are major_veterinarian 10 and stats.set_skill_level skill_dogtraining 5 for pet training. Which really might as well be dog training yeah.

You can adopt ghost pets at brindleton bay cemetery, north of the lighthouse/museum in the woods near the rocky area. You can become good friends (the required level to invite to household) with less than 6 interactions with the animal.

Everyone's probably heard of Mayor Whiskers, the stray who wanders town that can be adopted, but that's another one not mentioned yet.

If you give your dog the Adventurous Trait, your Sim can go on a little adventure with the dog (or puppy).

Also, puppies can be bathed, but you have to click on the puppy to get the interaction to work. (Yes, these two are related -- Coco played in a dirt pile while on her adventure).

Did you know....A human with his or her dog can't be fed upon by vampires? It is true. Apparently, Vamps fear the dog will protect it's owner. Feeding my vamps just got a lot harder after moving to Brindleton Bay. It seems everyone has a dog near by.

That if you set your lot to "dog friendly" you will be cleaning so many messes, it will take your sim forever to clean it up. Do not select that lot trait. Lol. I learned the hard way. Messes were every where and so were sick dogs, ewww.

You can start your sim jogging with their dog and then click and direct your sim to 'jog here' and your sim and dog will continue their jog but to the spot you have specified.

Sims can take their pets upstairs on the lighthouse.

And female dogs can go on heat?  I think? I don't really know what this is but every time I see the Delgato's pet dog she has hearts radiating out of her nose even though no other dog is around.

Your cat wand will lose its fluff after a lot of use - and leave pieces of fluff on the floor.

@Playalot I think female cats go into heat as well - they start singing hearts like the dog on your shot.

I also read that you could use feathers to repair the cat teaser, but I haven't done that myself. I like the pictures, though.

The reason why cats get distracted by the laser pointer? It displays a fish, which apparently cats love to catch.

If a mating between two cats fails, they will start hissing afterwards and seem dissatisfied. If it succeeds, they will begin to play.

Dogs use the bush (the one you can use to relieve the sim's bladder) to get the feather piles. They will do so often, atleast if they have the adventurous trait

Besides different colors, they also have different small symbols. Inspired has a butterfly, focused a star, and happy a fish.

If you have a cat, sometimes they will interact with the mouse hole, I noticed my Sim's cat crouching outside the mouse hole, growling and carrying on and a few minutes later, a mouse appeared. lol.

The different symbols are not restricted to certain colours either as I've seen the fish, paw print and other symbols appear on all colours of the laser, regardless of the Sim's emotion at the time.

Did you know that when the bees need a "mite treatment", that you can see the bees dropping out of the bee box.  Just happened to notice that when they were dormant in the winter and kept seeing little black dots falling from the bee box and then realized it was bees and it needed a mite treatment.  Pretty cool.

There was a post on page 2 about the cat wand (I won't reply to it as it was from 2017). But it said that the wand will break after a few times. Well, for my sim it did not last that long. After the first time playing with it he left it on the floor. A few hours later it was broken...

I can not recall the name of the cat but he is very active. And he use to tick the tongue out every now and then. If think it's a nice detail.
Unpopular opinion: I like the Sims 4
