When I say back to basics ... I mean back to basics. As far as towns go, I have the choice of Sunset Valley or Sunset Valley, so Sunset Valley, I choose you! I also have Into the Future loaded (yes, with its noted issues with skill opportunities of non into the future skills.

My founder is Baktu Baysix, did you notice what I did there? Yes, I'm sure you noticed, and if you did, I noticed you noticing. I suppose you'd like to see my Friendly, Athletic, Flirtatious sim who Loves the Outdoors and is a Great Kisser. Oh, and he wants to be a Professional Athlete ... Yes, its Aggie C! At least this time she won't be chained to a sculpture station and doing portrait painting instead of completing her life time wish! Instead she'll be spending her time doing the gardening and the fishing and the cooking in addition to the portrait painting instead of completing her life time wish. Poor Aggie

While Aggie headed home to paint, Baktu went to join his career and get started on his athletics skill.

I can't do my usual "Aggie can't travel overseas or go to uni - she's pregnant" check on her phone in this simpler version of the Sims 3 ID, so I need to wait for her to be nauseous. (I play with sound off). So Mr Baysix goes off to work.

And Aggie is nauseous for no reason and then changes clothes at the easel.

Generation 2 is on the way! But will it be a boy or a girl? Mumma Aggie wants a boy, Dadda Baktu wants a girl. Three days are all we need to see.

Meanwhile, Baktu put Beyondthe in her crib and returned to working on his athletic skill ... cardio this time and Aggie updated her look to a more modern (you might say futuristic) style

This is really interesting! Will you be adding more expansion packs with each heir?

I'm actually doing abase game ID myself! Gen 3 just became a young adult. I look forward to seeing how this goes, and I'm really digging Aggie's new look.

Thanks Trident, I'm finding the Game Play new and refreshing. So much I'm accustomed to comes from the extra expansion and stuff packs, worlds and premium content - eg days off work due to marriage/babies, harvestables, Self Employed Careers, tablet for faster learning, my favourite LTRs etc. I am not, however, missing the celebrities. No, I'm not adding additional packs per generation. I am going for Hall of Fame with this ... here's hoping I get there.

I like the Aggie look as well. I figure, I've got Into the Future, I have to put up with a total lack of skill challenges from the base game skills, so I will clothe my sims with Into the Future outfits whenever possible AND use Into the Furniture Doors/Windows/Furniture/Furnishings/etc whenever possible. I like the look of them, and it makes me geek out to think they are using things inspired by Sci Fi and Space Exploration.


After Aggie's adult birthday was missed by me (she was in the back yard and spun and I thought oops), I kept a close eye on the darling little Beyondthe (henceforth Bey) as she spent three days asleep in her crib in between getting changed, fed, snuggled and played with by her parents.

Agnes strikes again! 

Got to say,  I'm loving reading this! I bet it's 100% refreshing going back to the basics of the game. I don't think I could do it, but I applaud you!

Aggie's always had a special place in my heart, even more so since I've gotten to know an Agnes in real life ... Her name is also shortened to Aggie, but her surname is Kemenes.

Bey's childhood simply seemed to fly! Unlike her toddlerhood which conversely seemed to drag on forever. (I know that they are both the same length of time in game - I guess its the difference between the toddler at home needing to have other sims care for her versus the child at school.

As is my usual practice, Aggie gets started on Bey's portrait straight after the new look.

Bey starts on her painting skill - due to toddler book learning, she starts at level 3 painting skill.

She also does her homework each night and easily makes the A.

At school each day she meets new friends and talks to them ... she was born early enough to have a couple of days of primary school with Donna Ursine. On her way home from school one day, she passed her parents ... doing parent things.

After posing for her portrait, she went back to school for her first day as a high school student, and befriended Sandi French who was nearing the end of her schooling. Despite the age gap, Sandi went home with Bey to do homework ...

Some days she didn't take the bus, and instead road her bike to school.

End of her first week of high school, and Bey has an A, and has managed to meet Sandi French (now a YA), Sam Sekemoto (late teen), Donna Ursine (teen) and Willard Keaton.
Game has killed Cornelia Goth rather early - Tuesday or Wednesday Week 4 - but Gunthor is still alive and kicking. The game has also made Mortimer the partner of Bebe Hart.

Next up, we study the athletic efforts of Baktu and the fishing exploits of Aggie.

I love the ITF expansion, and I'm actually rather fond of the basegame. I never had the courage to play a dynasty though.

I know I promised the fishing exploits of Aggie and the athletic exploits of Baktu this update, but I got caught up with other things, and that hasn't really happened ... so instead of that, I give you a different update including a demonstration of why me writing poetry is a bad idea.

As you know, Aggie and Baktu loved to do parent things outside their house in the broad daylight, which embarassed their teenage daughter, Bey immensely.

Let's go back a step. Mortimer's parents both died, and he was all alone in that big house with no one but ghosts for company ... and so his Aunty Aggie invited him to come and live with her, Baktu and his cousin, Bey. He is BF with Bella, but his partner is Bebe, and the lovely Bella also has a love interest ... Leighton Sekemoto ... Sam was potentially going to be Bey's hubby, but I think I might cause the game to implode if I then try to have the offspring of Leighton and Bella into the family, so we might go for Wilbert Keaton instead ... with awful name and can't stand art trait and all. I guess if I refer to Beyondthe as Bey, I could always refer to Wilbert as Bert or Ber.

House Tour

Figured I would give you a tour around my house to show off my extremely basic building abilities.

The front of the house from across the road.

The four downstairs bedrooms with roped off space for museum items at back of each room. Yellow Museum is Baktu's room, Red Museum is Bey's room, third room currently houses Mortimer. Aggie and Mortimer can access all rooms, Baktu can only access his room, Bey can only access her room. Baktu's exercise equipment is in his room, Bey's personal easel is in her room, each of their rooms also contain an all in one bathroom and a basic computer.

The kitchen, dining and lounge room. Only Aggie and Mortimer can access the kitchen area. 2nd fridge, trash compactor and dish washer are in dining area. At moment, no tv in the lounge area, but they do have a book case with some books in it oh and a radio.

Taking the steps upside, we come to the gardening area. This is really Aggie's domain, but all are encouraged to come and help out - I can see it now - 8 elderly people stooped over weeding, watering, planting, fertilizing and picking from their home garden. I bought the quick grow stand because I couldn't keep the water up to all of the plants, particularly the watermelons. Aggie had her traits slightly modified through a midlife crisis to give herself green thumb and bring the death flowers back to 'life'. This is directly above the kitchen/dining/lounge area on the lower floor.

Here are bedrooms 5-8 for immortals 5-8. In time, these all in one bathrooms will be moved indoors, but for now they are outside to save Aggie et al having to go downstairs to shower etc after spending too long in the garden. Nothing overly exciting up here at the moment ... so if you'll use the stairs at the end of the verandah ... you can see the backyard.

First of all, the fishing pond. This has been populated with fish purchased from the store. With only base game and ITF, there aren't many that can be purchased. Aggie does spend some time here.

In the opposite corner to the fishing pond is the outdoor studio which is used to paint portraits of immortals. This gives the portrait artist and the person sitting (err standing) for the portrait a pleasant outlook while engaged in the museum pieces.

So basically that's the basic house of the Baysix family, it is nothing fancy, but it meets their basic(s) needs!
Note - You will see in the 2nd picture above (the ones containing the museum pieces for Baktu and Bey) that I've gone for the ITF easels rather than the base game easels. The easels with ITF are really cool, I think, because unlike with portraits painted on the base game (and all other easels in game) they can be put above each other. Handy for being able to paint the largest portrait size and not having to take up too much wall space.

Well, I think the house is awesome. Now I want the super garden thing too. Bought a cowplant set for the Goths earlier today. Just because. I didn't know about the functional feature of the "futuristic" paintings, and I agree that those easels are the coolest. Heck, a lot of ITF stuff is really fancy.

I know you mentioned Willy (Will?) Keaton as a spouse candidate, but what about Arlo Bunch? Or one of the other smaller boy kids? Though I've never played a dynasty or legacy, so I don't know if it's best if the age is as close a match as possible.

My main thing is I need someone to be able to paint Bey's portraits once Aggie dies. Aggie is 76 at the moment, and Bey is 3 days off YA. Then 21 to A, then 21 to E. So Aggie would have to live to 121 at least (and paint very quickly lol) to get all of them done. It is the main reason why I bring Mortimer into the household ... he has the artistic trait ... and in this case, the game gave him handiness. He takes over the painting of Bey's portraits for the museum. and portraits of Generation 3 until he dies. Then Bey paints portraits til the end.

There's no reason why I can't choose Arlo or Miraj or Malcolm as Bey's spouse, none at all (unless the game's hooked any or all of them up with someone else already).

I've been threatening promising an update on the fishing exploits of Aggie and the workouts of Baktu, and here it is. Unlucky you.

Wednesday Week 6 to Tuesday Week 7

There has been much skilling and aging and activity going on in the Baysix house. Baktu and Leighton have joined Aggie in elderhood, Bey became a young adult and married the older Michael Bachelor (he's an adult), and their union has brought Generation 3, a friendly genius named Startwithe (Star for short), into the game. Mortimer has now aged to adult and has a son with Bebe, name of Juston Hart I think Sims 3 will allow Juston and Star to marry in time. Juston and Star are the children of cousins - Mortimer and Bey and their respective partners.

Firstly, Leighton and Sam Sekemoto both moved in. Through Michael, (or perhaps Mortimer) I discovered that Leighton and the lovely Bella were an item and I wanted to see that I got at least one offspring from that pairup into the game. Leighton is the same age as Baktu, and like Baktu is now an elder and rockin' an ITF style hairdo and facial hair.

My choice for his elder clothes ... not so much rocking going on. Tamra Bachelor is his daughter with Bella, looking at the in game family tree, she's a neurotic loner. His LTW of surrounded by family was not going to occur, so I've given him the change LTW reward and he's now going for The Perfect Garden.

Mortimer Goth has just hit level 10 skill in handiness and has repaired enough electrical devices to be called an electrician. Here, he is upgrading one of the family's stereos by giving it improved speakers.

Mortimer and his girlfriend, Bebe Hart have a son, Juston Hart, who is now in primary school and is a frugal absent minded virtuouso ... so he could be a world famous musician if he remembered to spend money on the instrument and music lessons, that is. Mortimer's LTW is Master of the Arts. He doesn't have a career.

Sam Sekemoto has joined the world of the culinary career. I really want that fridge pre cooking immortal and Sam is the sim to get it for me. Here he is, working on his cooking skill by preparing the evening meal.

He has a naughty reputation, poor kid and it is due to the watcher. The game assigned him as the girlfriend to a new sim by the name of Nancy Morena. Nancy has a twin sister named Helen Morena ... well, they look identical anyway ... I sent Sam to their house and ummm had him flirting and so forth with Helen by mistake. Then when I realised that, I changed him to flirting with Nancy. I then sent Sam and BOTH his lady friends, Nancy and Heather to the town theatre. Bad mistake, as I sent him in with both of them, and had him woohoo with Helen (by mistake) and then had him try for baby with Nancy (on purpose). Outcome:- Sam is the girlfriend of Nancy and the romantic interest of Helen. He has a naughty reputation, has two active romances and has cheated with both sisters on the other sister. It doesn't seem that either of them has fallen pregnant with Sam. Poor Sam. Like Mortimer, he wants to be a master of the arts.

Mortimer was on hand though and grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out that fire in a snap and so Star changed her hair and clothing. Her mother, Bey's favourite colour is red, hers, on the other hand, is violet, and it seems to go nicely with a yellow trim for her.

Baktu is now an elder. He had to wait for the lovely Aggie to learn ambrosia after painting his portrait. He also has to get the money to buy a building and throw a party to confirm his best friends before eating ambrosia and becoming immortal.

Tonight

Aggie has maxed painting, cooking and gardening and has completed one skill challenge from each.
She has lived long enough to see her daughter, Bey married to Michael Bachelor, and her grand daughter, Star born and grown into a toddler.
She has painted all the portraits that have so far come into the Baysix museum - all 3 of her hubbies portraits, the first 4 of Bey's portraits and Star's toddler portrait.
She has grown the life fruit, caught the death fish, learnt the ambrosia recipe, cooked the ambrosia and cultivated the death flower for Baktu's immortality ... and has several more home grown death flowers in storage for the future immortals. Oh ... and she also stocked the family pond with alley catfish, angelfish and death fish.
She even changed her lifetime wish from illustrious author to renaissance sim ... so is it too much to ask for a bit of peace and quiet and to let her fish alone as she tries to get to level 10 fishing?
Apparently the answer is a resounding "YES!", according to her nephew, Mortimer and her son-in-law Michael, if this picture is anything to go by.

So that Aggie can spend her time fishing, the duties of tending the roof top garden has fallen primarily to Leighton. Leighton retired at level 6 of the professional sport career so he could turn to his life time wish of presenting the perfect garden. He's 81 and has 1 of his 8 perfect plants at the moment.
Leighton - Some weeds need to be pulled, some fruit and vegetable harvested, some barren plants need to be binned and some new seeds need to be planted.
Leighton - Pull, Harvest, Bin, Plant, again! Pull, Harvest, Bin, Plant, again! Oh dear, I forgot that now is when the watering starts ... tonight.

Due to Watcher inattention this attempt has failed Let us explain

'Twas Monday of week 8 and Aggie felt all light headed and floaty and stuff, she even received a visit from a guy that was tall, dark and handsome!?!

The watcher was confuzzked (nothing new there, he is confuzzled at least twice a day, and three times every Sunday, and four times when it is the 4th day of August, given it was the 4th of August and a Sunday, the 3 times for it being Sunday and 4 times for it being the 4th day of August, were multiplied together). No one came to mourn her. Well, her hubby had just gone to work, so he's excused, her daughter was coming home from work, so she's excused, her grand daughter was in her swing, so she's excused, the Sekemotos, Leighton and Sam (aka the live ins) were out - Sam was working at the diner and Leighton decided that beds were too comfortable and slept on a park bench outside the bookshop.


Her nephew and her son in law? NOT EXCUSED!

Her son-in-law, Michael, was across the other side of the family pond, FISHING! No gnashing of teeth, no endless waling, not even a slight sob.

Her nephew, Mortimer, was upstairs, upgrading all in one bathrooms! He didn't come running, nothing like that.

And no one had the mourning moodlet
What was going on?
Our confuzzled Watcher went back to look at the interplay between reaper and reapee. The swan dive through the air and ... Aggie turned solid.
Our confuzzled Watcher mouthed a very not nice or polite word at that point, which started with f and rhymed with luck ... yes, it was fire-truck.
And saw with mounting horror that tall dark and handsome spoke directly to Agnes, his voice deep and terrible and rasping, but yet was also filled with tenderness and amazement "Aww Agnes, that is so sweet of you! I need to hurry home and put this flower in water! I know just the right vase ..."

So, at least I know what happened and I've found yet another way of failing this challenge.

I have never given a deathflower to Grimm before either on purpose or by accident. I will also make sure to not only check in on my sims for their current status and moods on starting to play a game again, but also on the status of their inventories.

So yeah, graveyard please.
