@Shewolf13
Up until now, I favored the Inquisitive trait but now I want all my toddlers to be Charmers!
I love that they can socialize so fully with relatives outside the immediate family.
The twins aged up well! Now, of course, I'm itching for their teen birthday! 10 more sim-days!

Well, I want to comment on everything as usual, lol, but I'll try to keep it down to a few million words.  hehe.  First up, I absolutely adore your house!  It is so charming and perfect for so many different ideas/scenarios.  I hope it's up on the gallery!  Those play dates!  Loving the toddler spam and will be sad to see it go, (till the next time anyway).  Great shot of Fabian having fun!  Loved it.  Sad to see Vincente growing so old.  Preparing self for the reality to come.  Do you have any clue why Brise occasionally turns blue?  Did he eat a certain ice cream at one time?  I love the pipe organ!  Not at all gloomy.  Do you have to have Vampires installed to use it?    You know, you always choose the most interesting careers, ones I never think of but am now encouraged to try, and the most interesting skills to learn.  One of the reasons I love reading your stories, that and the humor of course.    Sometimes I go back and re-read just for the enjoyment of the tale.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

I hadn't thought the house was gallery-worthy, but maybe I'll save it in a different game and work on furnishing it a little more.
The house exterior was inspired by a photo and 2 drawings, all of which I found online. The floorplan ended up a bit haphazard.

Do you have any clue why Brise occasionally turns blue?  Did he eat a certain ice cream at one time?
I checked on EA Answers HQ and, apparently, there's a bug where a sim who has gone swimming (or even wading) in Sulani will thereafter constantly get a "Chilled (from Swimming)" moodlet.
There's another bug where a sim who's never swum or waded constantly gets the Chilled moodlet. That's the case with Brise, though I can no longer check his moodlets.

I love the pipe organ!  Not at all gloomy.  Do you have to have Vampires installed to use it?
You know, you always choose the most interesting careers, ones I never think of but am now encouraged to try, and the most interesting skills to learn.
I know the pipe organ was introduced with the Vampires pack, but don't know whether it's included in base game or not.
Maybe check if you can find it in Buy mode with the other musical instruments?
For unique skills, I'm trying hard to choose skills that would be nearly impossible to accidentally max without certain objects or materials available, like Guitar, Pipe Organ, and Veterinarian.
In the past, I failed several attempts at other dynasty challenges by accidentally maxing an already-claimed unique skill.

I really love all of the work-from-home careers! They offer a regular schedule that syncs nicely with school hours.
And they usually end before 6 pm, so the heir can squeeze in one odd-job right after work then do more odd jobs on weekends.
No need to wait until later and join the Freelance career.

Thanks for your nice words, Joria. I hope you are planning to "get back on the horse" and start another story soon! :)

Ooo- I got caught up just in time for a toddler playdate full of redheaded cuties!

I love how you are pacing things for this challenge.  Getting stuff done, but still leaving yourself something to do.  I also really like all of your houses so far.  I think one of the most appealing parts of the P10 dynasty is getting to start fresh with each new heir.  It keeps things interesting.

Congrats on maxing the pipe organ skill!  That one seems to take forever.

Thank you for stopping by @BallerinaHippo !
With every generation, it gets a little easier to figure out which activities go together and which can be left until later.
The Ten-Gen Townie Dynasty also requires the heir to move and restart every generation and it was fun having my sims live in premade houses that I'd never used before.
For a variety of reasons, though, I'm enjoying this challenge more. And, yes, it's very exciting whenever an heir gets close to moving out!

The pipe organ wasn't too bad, thanks to New Skill Day. The skill I hate most is probably bowling, even though it's only 5 levels.

Power of 10/4.20: We Party Hearty (23 Oct update)
« Reply #170 on: October 24, 2019, 01:47:33 AM »
4.20: We Party Hearty

Monday, Week 22

Today is the twins' first day of primary school!
Camilio and I did school projects with them last night, so they'll be fine!

Papa continues to get chilled and turn blue for no reason.
(Apparently, it's an unresolved bug.)

Huge shock when I accidentally walk in on him in the bath.
At first, I thought he'd grown a pink merman's tail.
Then I look again and see it's just rose petals.

The twins study hard at school and earn B grades.
Later that evening, they both earn their last scouting badge: Keep Fit.

They bring home school projects that teach Mental and Logic.
Camilio and I replace them for ones that teach Mental and Rocket Science.
That way, we max Rocket Science and the boys still earn extra credit.

It's Tuesday and I'm enjoying the day off.
I only work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday now. Sweet, right?
Today, I'm just going to take it easy.

Yay, the twins earn their A's and complete Whiz Kid.
That's their fourth and last aspiration.
Depending on my promotions, we can take a 4- or 5-day family vacation soon!

While Camilio and my sister Helen help with homework, I befriend Patchy.
Our scarecrow becomes my second non-human good friend.

Just as I'm thinking about throwing a party, Grandma Wynn strolls by.
I realize I don't know her at all.
All of a sudden, I really want her to become my good friend.
It's legit; we've never even lived in the same household.

Well, now I should just go ahead and make my last two good friends!
Alfonso Acosta is a high schooler but hugging him isn't inappropriate at all.
What's a hug between good friends, right?

On the other hand, mean and gloomy Ali El Karmani strikes me as a creepster.
I manage to become good friends with him, but without any hugging.
You know which of the two won't be invited to my parties!

On Wednesday, Camilio discovers that the boys can also give the Gift of Sulani.
I mean, we know that the twins have the Sulani Mana trait.
Since children can't garden, it never occurred to us that they could already evolve plants. Nice!

Swinging is a quick solution to low fun!
Being pushed on the swing by Papa is a special treat for Rafi.

Bea: And that is why you need to promote my "No Sim Left Behind" cause.
Papa, are you even listening?
Brise: It's a little hard to focus with Watcher trying to catch my upskirt shot!

Bea: Thanks for donating, Papa. I'm ready for my final promotion now.

Late Thursday afternoon, we all leave for Selvadorada.
My parents and sisters tag along to look after the twins.
By Friday morning, we're back in time for school and work.
And guess what? My collection is complete! (Value: $97,924)

Saturday morning, I make two bowls of kava then host a Kava Party.
We bring the kava plus a portable table and bar over to the Shrieking Llama Bar.
After the party, Watcher makes me drink more until I'm over-relaxed.
A few hours later, my 10th unique emotional whim pops up.
Dazed: Take a nap.

This was going to be the no-patio-parties generation!
But a dinner party, I learn today, can only be thrown at home.
That's why everyone's eating at tables on a carpet in the backyard. Ugh.
By the way, Rafi is thrilled to meet his very first alien.

Next up is a no-goal Weenie Roast at Magnolia Blossom Park.
Why no goals, you ask?
Because "someone" never placed a firepit and log seats in the park.
That's my younger brother, Fabian the genius.

Rafi: Grandpa, why does Desmond say he was almost my father?
Brise: Erm, ask your mother, Rafi.
Rafi: Ask her, like, right now?
Brise: No, that's too soon. Wait until after you're married, okay?

Sunday, Week 23

Today, I throw an incognito party at Sulani's Sand Bar.
A local asks me where the Cosplay Con is being held.
That's me wearing the hotdog outfit. *le sigh

Rafi comes dressed as a little girl. He could fool anyone!

After the fest, we spend the afternoon on Mua Pel'am.
Tomas tries out his "Summon Volcanic Bomb" power for the first time.

That night, I throw a dance party at the Pan Europa Discotheque.
It makes me realize how few friends I actually have outside the family.

Look who's attending my dance party!
From left to right, Great-Grandpa Erwin, Grandpa Vicente, Grandma Wynn, and Uncle Fynn!

On Monday, I go to work for the very last time.
I think I'll use up my vacation days before quitting.
What do you think?

I'm hosting a house party to celebrate finishing all but one of my requirements.
But I can't get my sister Bunny (who I hired for the party) to play piano.
Can you believe I had to drag her out of the telescope?

Poor Tomas volunteers to play instead, but that's just not right.

Rafi's a big boy now. He's the leader of all of our dynasty clubs.
He's incensed at his Auntie Bunny's irresponsible behavior and asks her to leave.
I can't imagine why she looks so surprised about it. *rolls eyes

Meanwhile, we still have that "Play a musical instrument for 1 hour" party goal.
So I click on the piano to hire an entertainer.
You'll never guess who shows up: Grandaunt Zoe
Papa says she was persona non grata in his mother Wynn's house in San Myshuno.
Apparently, Zoe was always trying to flirt with her brother-in-law Vicente. Scandalous!

Thanks to the piano fiasco, my house party finally earns its gold medal at 1 am on Tuesday.
But I'm not done throwing parties yet.
Two days from now, the twins age up to teens.
Y'all come back now!

Beatrix's move-out requirements:  9/10
    1. Career: Charity Organizer 10 (Charity Icon)
    2. Unique skill: Pipe Organ 10/10
    3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points: 10,000/10,000 sp
    4. Earned $10,000: $10,000/$10,000
    5. 10 good friends: 10/10 (including 2/2 non-human)
    6. 10 odd jobs: 10/10
📌7. 10 parties: 8/10 (Kava, Dinner, Weenie Roast, Incognito, Dance, House)
    8. 10 whims for 10 different emotions: 10/10 whims (Dazed)
    9. 10 different community lots for min. 2 hrs each: 10/10
  10. 10-item collection: 10/10 Omiscan treasures

Watcher's Remarks
*School projects: The school doesn't care if the parents switch school projects.
I just replace them to teach whatever skills the kids and parents need most.
*The over-relaxed moodlet from drinking lots of kava gives Dazed +10.
All my heirs throw a kava party, so it's an easy way to get a Dazed whim.
Over-relaxed lasts for at least 10 hours, so don't do this before work, haha.
*The Gen3 heir's named Brise for "breeze," because he was going to be a botanist on a 40x30 Windenburg lot.
But then I wanted a botanist with the Sulani Mana trait, so Brise wed an elemental, moved to a 30x20 Willow Creek lot and became a Politician.
I'd never played Island Living before and didn't know his elemental wife would come with the Sulani Mana trait. Durrrr.
*The Gen4 heir's named after Beatrix Potter, famed gardener and writer, because I thought she'd become the botanist instead.
Then I recalled that Windenburg Countryside is a great area for the Political careers due to the many walk-bys.
  So Bea = Charity Organizer.
*The Gen5 heir's named Rafael, after the son of a Brazilian friend of mine irl.
*Party entertainer: I'm not sure why party entertainers won't play. This only seems to happen when hiring relatives.

More troublesome sisters! I love the picture of Rafael asking Bunny to leave, he looks very stern. I am a bit confused though, the twins are still children but at the end you said they’re only two days away from being young adults, is that a typo or are you further ahead in gameplay than updates?

It’s interesting to hear about how you’ve decided on each heir’s career, will Rafael be the gardener now?

Thank you for reading, Meg.
Scenes resembling that of Rafael looking angry with Bunny are surprisingly common in my game. My sims are constantly complaining about the weather, haha.
Oh, I'm grateful to you for catching that typo! You're right: that typo about the twins ageing up to young adults in two days was entirely wishful thinking.
Yes, Rafael will become the botanist. Can you guess where he'll be living? :)

Power of 10/4.21: Infatuation (26 Oct update)
« Reply #173 on: October 26, 2019, 02:41:10 PM »
4.21: Infatuation

Tuesday, Week 23

For a geek like me, Granite Falls is paradise!
I can harvest herbs, look for frogs, catch insects, and fish!
There's so much stuff to collect, and the air's so fresh and clean!

The twins don't seem very impressed by our two-day vacation here.
They're too young to appreciate the scenic beauty of Granite Falls.
I bet they're wishing they could be home watching TV right about now.

Camilio struggles to find enjoyment in Granite Falls, too.
As a squeamish sim, he loathes fishing, frogs, and insects.
I've brought along a few things to keep him entertained, like a yoga mat.

The next morning, the boys get excited about visiting the Deep Forest.
Rafi discovers that catching insects himself is way more fun watching someone else do it.

Though I'm a geek and my son Tomas is cheerful, he has better luck fishing.
Among the three of us, only Tomas has caught an angelfish and a mountain lion fish so far.
Go figure!

Of course, Camilio can't join us fishing.
Lucky for him, I brought along our excavation tables and a few unauthenticated artifacts, hehe.
Camilio (mutters): Uh huh, lucky for me!

That night, we visit Sulani with everything we need for the teens' birthday party.
We discover a bonfire party going but, sadly, can't choose this spot as the party venue.
So, I choose the nearby Sand Bar instead.

After midnight, Camilio lights birthday candles on the two cakes he's brought from home.
Make a wish, Rafael!

Rafael (left) and Tomas (right) after their makeovers.
Rafael doesn't like the curls he ages up with and opts for dreads.
Tomas ages up with that hairstyle and decides to keep it.

(And, yes, even the Sand Bar has a dresser out back.)

The boys are thrilled when a beautiful young lady approaches them.
They're equally disappointed to learn that it's Shea Pries, their Grandpa Brises' sister.

It takes longer to earn a gold medal away from the home lot, but we did it!

Before going home, I make one last search for a large conch shell. No luck!

Rafi and Tomas, on the front porch in their hot-weather outfits.
They look so serious!

It's not too early to consider Rafael's spouse options.
While the boys do homework, I invite over the simverse's only two eligible redheads, both teens.

Mario Zambrano is an evil child of the ocean. Forget about it!
Seiji Ishikawa is a vegetarian insider. He's quite adorable, don't you think?

In the evening, I throw a Black & White Bash.
How marvelous seeing everyone looking so elegantly posh!

My party co-hosts are Camilio and Rafael.
Don't laugh but I've invited more spouse prospects to this party.
Rafael's only job tonight is to get to know and discuss black and white topics with them.

Both Alfonso Acosta and Toni Williamson are teens.
Rafi's known Alfonso since childhood. He's a dog-loving bookworm.
Toni's a cat-loving romantic. She's a little plump but that's quite easy to remedy.

Young adult Kalama is an active, geeky foodie.
Young adult Samara's a genius vegetarian who loves the outdoors.
We'll just have to wait and see who's the right age when Rafi's birthday approaches.

And my tenth party's a wrap!
I'm officially done with all of my requirements.
Now the waiting game until Rafael's young adult birthday begins.

The boys get home at 10 pm from their first day at their retail job.
Rafael manages to max it tonight, so he's switched to Manual Labor for the weekend.
Tomas, on the other hand, left for work in an Enraged mode which hindered his job performance.
He'll need to work another day.

Sunday, Week 24

Since Thursday's party, Toni's asked Rafael out twice but the timing's never worked.
Today's the Flea Market so Rafi invites Toni along as well as Seiji Ishikawa.
As soon as we arrive, Rafael pops a whim to chat with Seiji.

The two of them really hit it off and one thing leads surprisingly quickly to another.
Mind you, we have no idea how old Seiji will be on Rafael's next birthday.

Ahhh, young love. Rafael throws caution to the winds.
When we're ready to go home, Rafael invites Seiji to spend the night.

Camilio (whispers): Hey, he didn't learn that bush thing from me, okay?

On Monday, Rafael phones me from school.
While checking his relationship with Seiji, he sees that Seiji's a young adult now.
Seiji must have aged up this morning without anyone noticing.
I thought he was just playing hooky today.

This is happy news for Rafael, though, since he and Seiji will both be young adults next week.
Also, Seiji's third trait is Cat-Lover. Nice!

Camilio: Just look at your parents in the middle of the living room in broad daylight!
Beatrix: After Rafael moves out, I wonder if we'll behave like that in Rafael's home.
Camilio: I certainly hope so, Bea. But no more bush woohoo, please.

Rafael's working hard to catch the attention of the Artifacts Association.
He spends a few hours everyday, helping us to authenticate artifacts.
In a few more days, he should be experienced enough.

And in another eight days, Raphael will be old enough to move out!
He and Seiji can't wait!

Beatrix's move-out requirements:  10/10
✔️  1. Career: Charity Organizer 10 (Charity Icon)
✔️  2. Unique skill: Pipe Organ 10/10
✔️  3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points: Yes
✔️  4. Earned $10,000: Yes
✔️  5. 10/10 good friends (including 2/2 non-human)
✔️  6. 10/10 odd jobs
✔️  7. 10/10 parties: Teen birthday party, Black & white bash
✔️  8. 10/10 emotional whims
✔️  9. 10/10 community lots for min. 2 hrs each
✔️10. 10/10-item collection: Omiscan treasures

Watcher's Remarks
*Rocket Science: Oddly, this skill cannot be mentored now, though it had been possible during the second generation at San Myshuno.
Perhaps it was "fixed" by the last patch?
*We were worried that none of the spouse options would be a young adult on Rafael's birthday.
Rafael romancing Seiji as teenagers was also a huge risk, but Seiji came through with flying colors! Phew!

Power of 10/4.22: Ready to Relocate (28 Oct update)

4.22: Ready to Relocate

Tuesday, Week 24

Mama Bea is done with her requirements, so she says it's my turn to be narrator. Well, okay.

Today, I return from school feeling Enraged.
Even sending an angry text doesn't help at all! Maybe if I try winding down with classical music?
If I'm going to do that, I might as well continue learning archaeology.

Great-Grandma Wynn passed away during our trip to Granite Falls.
We visit her Spice Market home so Mama can pick up her urn.
The urns of Great-Grandpa Vicente and Great-Grandaunt Zoe are there, too.

At the family graveyard, we strengthen their connection to the physical world.
We can no longer do that for our founder Erwin and his wife Mia.
I'm not clear what happens when they lose their physical connections.
Do you know?

Since we're here at Le Blanc, we stay and enjoy a simple dinner.
Because Seiji's a vegetarian, I order the spinach and mushroom quiche for all of us.

A downside of placing the family graveyard behind a restaurant is the broken plumbing.
The founder's wife Mia breaks all the sinks, which means dirty dishes are piling up.

On the plus side, I get the chance to introduce myself to our founder.
We're just acquaintances now, but who knows?
Maybe he and I can become good friends in the future.

My unique skill's gonna be Herbalism but I recently discovered a seasonal hitch.
Summer ends several days before I move out, which means I can't go gather herbs in Granite Falls.
That's why I've started learning Herbalism now here in Windenburg.
After moving out, I can max Herbalism using "Talk about herbalism" socials.

This morning, I figured out the easiest way for Seiji to learn Logic.
I start a Logic-building school project and ask Seiji to help me, then I quit that school project.
To keep Seiji company, I've started a different school project to learn Rocket Science.

Rafael: It's Friday and I'm already ready to move out next week, Seiji.
Seiji: Really? You've learned all the skills you need and you're just counting the days?
Rafael: Yep! I'd like us go on a romantic weekend trip together but I'm still a teen…
Seiji:  It's cool, Rafe. We should spend this last weekend with your family, taking it easy.

We end up not taking a vacation anywhere, not even with the family.
Saturday marks the end of the 24th week, which means we need to change seasons tonight.
We do briefly visit Magnolia Blossom Park to deposit our magic beans.
Too bad we're still missing a flirty bean!

Windenburg's club life is nothing special.
Narwahl Arms has a worn-out, grunge vibe.
Pan Europa's a little too techie for my taste, but it at least has a club hangout.

Monday, Week 25

We didn't escape the browning of our garden during the transition from summer to spring.
Papa keeps trying to water the garden until he realizes the plants just look withered.
Ugh.

Well, I realize it's too late now, but I should have been constantly checking Patchy's pockets.
Seiji and I becoming plantsims for a while might be kinda fun, you know?

We've been waiting to order food at the Salty Paws Saloon for over an hour now.
I blame Grandma Arihi for the bartender abandoning his job.
As soon as we arrived, she immediately went and started chatting with the bartender.
Now he won't go back to tending bar. Sheesh!

Salty Paws Saloon has a nice little kitchen, so I decide to prepare dinner.
Roast Tofu Chicken because Seiji's a vegetarian.

I'd never cooked a meal for everyone like this.
They all compliment the chef. It's a great feeling.

Grandpa Brise is surprised to see this bearded sim watching us eat.
He says he's seen that sim around in San Myshuno since his toddler days.
His guess is that he must be one of those immortal San Myshuno landlords.  Huh.

Seiji's hoping to see some cats around in this neighborhood, seeing that he's a cat lover.
But there's only these two.
One of them is wearing a pink dress. Does that mean they're a couple?

Can time pass any slower?
I max Wellness while killing time before my birthday.

The time has finally come!
My very pregnant mother lights the candles on my birthday cake.

Since Seiji's a vegetarian, I also choose Vegetarian as my third trait.
This will make cooking for the two of us easier.

I wait until Tomas ages up and my immediately family all spend their remaining satisfaction.
And then…and then…I'm outta here!

Rafael: Seiji, hurry and come over so I can ask you to move in with me!
Seiji: Okay. Can I bring my mom with me?
Rafael: What? You never mentioned that you live with your mother. But, no, she can't live with us.
Seiji: Okay, I need to tell her the news then I'm on my way.
Rafael: :(

Gen5 Heir: Rafael Pries

Ooo, wow! Love Seiji. Bummer about his mother though XD Whoops. As far as the physical connection with tombstones, I thought it meant they are gone and can't be seen anymore, though if his ghost still came out, maybe the connection is strong enough now and so it's not an option? I'm not entirely sure.

I also think Seiji is adorable. I hope the next heir takes after Seiji. ;)
Yeah, Seiji didn't bring any funds so we'll just have to work that much harder to build their Cape Cod home.

Haha, I'm confused about the whole "strengthen the connections" thing, too. Tbh, I usually just throw the urns in family inventory to avoid dealing with ghosts.
But then I read other stories where Watchers seem to enjoy the ghostly interactions, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm glad my sims won't need to be constantly strengthening connections though. After a few more generations, there will be too many gravestones.
In your RKC, did you create a graveyard next to the abbey?

Yeah, now I have MCCC for the RKC, so I have it set that even if the ghost is culled, as long as its a played household, the ghosts don't fall off the tree, which can happen I think normally, though that may have changed at some point with all the new culling mechanics.

There is a graveyard at the Abbey. Though many of the nobles have their own crypts in their homes, most peasants and even merchants bury their dead at the Abbey. So there will be lots of ghosts XD How i'll handle that in story, not sure yet hehe

@Shewolf13
I'm not sure how I want to have ghosts in my P10 dynasty either.
In my first legacy, I seem to remember that whenever my heirs would go clubbing, they would only run into ghostly family and cousins at the clubs.
Haha, that's not a very desirable scenario... we shall see.

Too bad about the mother-in-law.  (No, she cannot move in.  It's against the rules!)  I'm sure Rafael and Seiji will have no problem earning money, though.  And it was sweet of Rafael to choose Vegetarian as his last trait.  My sims mostly cook vegetarian meals because it just makes things easier.   :)
