Yay, a Generations story. I'll have to content myself with reading this for the next two and a half weeks.

Aw, I'm sorry you have to wait for your copy of Generations.  But on the other hand, with all the problems some people have had, maybe waiting is a good thing.  I appreciate the interest in the Flowers, but given the age of my characters I'm not sure how much Gen content there will be here.  I wish I'd had this EP when I was doing Riches Galore.  What a riot it would have been with all those kids!  (Note to self:  be sure not to miss any updates of the Orphanage Projects)

Chapter Three

Marigold and Sunflower have always worn the clothes they were given.  Now they remove the hated black caps and run upstairs to find something else to wear.

Marigold finds a jacket and dress that once belonged to her mother.

Neither of the twins can bring themselves to wear anything that belonged to their older sisters.  Sunflower isn't sure who these clothes belonged to.  She can't find any shoes that fit and anyway, she's used to being barefoot.

For the first time in their life, there is nobody to pick up after or cook for.  The girls play chess as they discuss their future.

Sunflower:  What do you think we should do?
Marigold:  Just carry on as usual, I guess.
Sunflower:  We could invite a friend over.
Marigold:  Do you have any friends?
Sunflower:  ... no.
Marigold:  I looked at my scrapbook and it said I have no reputation at all.  I don't know anybody outside this household.  Now that the others are gone, you're the only person on earth that I know.
Sunflower:  No reputation, no friends, no romantic history.  Not much of anything.
Marigold:  Just two aging spinsters waiting for Grim.

Both are silent for a few minutes as they think about that.
Then Marigold asks:  Do you believe in dreams?
Sunflower:  What do you mean?
Marigold:  Do you think dreams might mean something?
Sunflower:  I don't know.  Why do you ask?
Marigold:  I had a dream last night.  It just seemed much more vivid than most dreams.  And there was a face.  A man's face, looking at me.  I haven't been able to get that face out of my mind all day.  Here, I'll show you.  [she walks over to the easel and quickly sketches an image]  This is what he looked like.

Is Dandelion sending messages from beyond the grave? It's spooky anyway.

No, it's not Dandelion.  ;) MissMaths recognizes him, don't you?

Chronic, I think the comment about them being free may be a wee bit premature.  Notice the last picture of them, taken through the barred window?  Well, it was the only way I could get the screenshot, but I think it also suggests something about their lives.

Thanks very much for the comments!

Of course I do, and I'm astonished that nobody else has! Why, guys, come on. Why does no-one else know?

Hint:  he's someone known for his good works.  His appearance in Marigold's dream may be an omen.

Since MissMaths identified him first, she can have the honour of naming the mystery man.  If she declines this incredible honour, it goes to CandyHeartedSim.   ;D

You're right - it is Mr Payne.  Well done, MissMaths!  As for the honour - well, you earned it.   ;)
As for what the roving philanthropist is doing in Marigold's dream - we shall just have to wait and see.
