I've never had a new cook's quality of any meal be outstanding on the first try...Laurie is talented. :D

What else would you expect, he is Scottish after all. ;)

Chapter Thirty-Two

Monday

Monday is devoted to lessons.  Sunflower tutors Joyce in Gardening:

Marigold is supposed to be tutoring Imogen in Handiness, but it looks to me like she's talking about taking a coffee break:

Kay shows off her white belt in Martial Arts:

Laurie popped a wish to improve his Handiness skill.  "You want to improve your Handiness skill, Laurie?  Excellent!  I have just the thing for you ..."

Lesson for Laurie:  Be careful what you wish for.  You just might get it.

Ever since Laurie's success with the waffles, I've been wondering if it was just a fluke or if he really does have some magic talent with cooking.  So I have him make dinner:  Goopy carbonara.  Here he is testing the dish:

Here we see the proud chef with his finished meal.

And he has a right to be proud.  Because our boy with level 2 Cooking skill, no natural cook trait, has just turned out perfect goopy carbonara.  I know I should give all the students a chance to cook, but I'm tempted to let Laurie do all the cooking this week to save everyone from having to eat burnt food.

The second clue in the treasure hunt:  Keep out!  I'se watching you.  This is mine!  Hint:  The answer is in the Sunset Valley Trivia Thread, which gave me the idea for this clue.

Indeed! Laurie must be one lucky Sim. I too know the clue this time! And Kay showing off her Martial Arts skills in that hat made me... laugh. :)

What quality are the ingredients you're using? I find that that's a big swing factor.

Just standard-quality stuff that comes from the fridge.  Of course, the fridge is the good one from the Culinary track, and the stove has been upgraded to improve meal quality, so it makes sense that Laurie - or any other Sim - would produce better food than they would with lesser appliances.  What doesn't make any sense at all to me, is the difference between the quality of Laurie's cooking and that of the previous students.  They were using exactly the same appliances and still managed to burn most things or, at best, make Very Nice quality food.

Yeah, but even if those ingredients are all perfect, dishes like Goopy Carbonara usually still take multiple tries to come out perfect. ;)

What if Laurie's trying to impress someone...?

I know the answer to the second one, I think, and I think I know where the first clue is pointing to but not what object located there!

Chapter Thirty-Three

Late Tuesday - very early Wednesday.  After everyone else is in bed, Sunflower and Marigold share a quiet moment before turning in.  Marigold seems to be smiling a lot these days.

Now they're all asleep in bed.  The house is quiet.  Let's tiptoe into their bedrooms and see what everyone's dreaming about.  Here are two of the students:

Guess which one wants to be a criminal?  And which one has just had her gardening lesson?

Our businesswoman-to-be dreams of making money:

Leo dreams of catching something in his net.  I wonder what it is he hopes to catch.

Laurie dreams of a big red heart.  What could that mean?

Sunflower goes one better than Laurie.  She dreams of two hearts.

And smiling Marigold?  What is she dreaming of?  Take a look.

Here's the final clue in this week's treasure hunt:  A marsh in a muddle.

Good luck to all the treasure hunters!

Awh, cute!
I'm awful at these scavenger hunts. I'm normally OK at crosswords and stuff but three weeks away from Sims hasn't helped with this. I'm downloading Leo!
