Hi again  :)
Now I'm done with the parents. I made them acheive their lifetime wishes, so I want them to leave the house or die (I know it seems mean :$ ) to leave me space to play with the 2 sons in the same house... how can I do that?
(notice that I've stopped the aging up, so the parents are not aging up and are not going to die of old age!)

Either you could move them away with 'Edit Town' (in the "..." menu) and clicking on your current household and choosing to split it, or you can do the same thing as here:
activate the cheat "testingcheatsenabled true", ctrl-shift-click on the babysitter and "activate aging" (or similar; I have the Swedish version).
but on the old parents. This will make them die of old age even with aging off.

Can you explain more about moving them away? Will they move to another home? Will I be playing with the sons or with the parents then?

Can you explain more about moving them away? Will they move to another home? Will I be playing with the sons or with the parents then?

You can also move the parents away without going into Edit Town.  Have one of the parents use a cell phone or computer and chose "Move."  If you have enough money, you can choose a new house for them to buy and it will come out of your household funds.  Then you just choose which Sims are moving out and make sure the house with the sons is the active household.  When that's done, the parents will just leave the house and go to the new one.  They will disappear from the left side of the screen and you will no longer control them.  If you don't have the money, you can still do this same thing with moving them, except instead of choosing a house for them, you click the "Kick Out" option on the screen where you choose who is moving.  They will still leave the house and your control, but they will find their own house to live in.  It can be any house in town that is vacant.  They will just move into it and nothing is taken from your household funds.  If you want to know where they will be living, you'll have to follow them when they leave.  Use the pause feature to keep up with them because they go pretty fast.

Now, if you want them to just die, you can do what Swede said and trigger their age progression with ctrl-shift-C "testingcheatsenabled true."  Once testing cheats is turned on, you can shift click the active Sim and select "Trigger Age Transition" and if the Sim is an elder, the next age transition is death.  They will just peacefully die and Grim Reaper will come for them.  It's easy and painless.

I want to build a second story (or floor) for the house, but every time I try I get lost. I think I need help with building. Can I find this here?

We have an article written by TommyT on the guide for beginning building, but it doesn't cover second stories.  Why don't you start a new topic for this on the Miscellaneous Help board.  You can call it "How Do I Build a Second Story" and I'm sure you'll get lots of help.

Try clicking on the curb several lots away and choose "go here". Now in your top left corner, change the setting of the walk to jogging and your sim should jog there. :)

You can also click the ground where you want to go and select "Jog Here" from the options that appear.  Then you can set the tone in the upper corner, depending on the level of athletic skill, such as "Don't Break a Sweat" or "Good Pacing."  You need to have at least some athletic skill to be able to jog at all, but your Sim probably has it already if the wish to jog came up.

Click on the bookshelf, then click "Read" and a list of all the books in that shelf that he can read will come up.  Select the book and say "OK."  You don't have to remove the book from the bookshelf for him to read it.  You can also click a book in your inventory and click "Read" and it will do the same thing.

Umm, Pam, I think you meant to say, click, "open bookshelf", that is where the list of the books are.

No, I also get an option to actually "Read" directly from clicking on the bookshelf.  Then it pulls up which books in that shelf my Sim can read.  I'm thinking the trouble jerseygirl had was from opening the bookshelf and taking a book from it, then trying to read the book.  It might have been a book her Sim couldn't read, but by clicking "Read" directly on the bookshelf, it only shows the books your Sim can read.

I think there's also an option to "Read Something" where the Sim just grabs whatever book to read.  But if you click "Read" you get to choose the book.

Everyone, thanks again for all the advice. I built the second story (only a small bedroom and a small bathroom so as not to waste all the money on building now) and my first son ''Yaz" proposed to his girlfriend the babysitter. They are now married, but the babysitter's lifetime wish is "Surrounded by Family" and it is written that to fulfill it she must raise 5 children from babies to teens. Is that all that it takes?

But I need help with something. Now the household has the old parents (Christopher steel and his wife), Yaz (their oldest son) and his wife, and Yaz's younger brother. I was intending to let the younger brother stay and get married in the same house, but now that Yaz's wife wants 5 children, is it still possible to let the younger brother stay?

Hi jerseygirl.

Yes, Surrounded by Family just means to raise 5 kids from infants to teenagers.  It's a challenging Lifetime Wish because that's quite a large family.  I like it, though, because I love the toddlers!

You have some options.  The elderly couple will eventually die and free up 2 spots in the house.  You can check their Simology tab and see where their life bar is.  They normally live 90 days on Normal lifespan.  You can also move them out of the house before they die, either by buying them a new house or by kicking them out.  Both are done by using the cell phone or computer and selecting "Move."  If you have the 5 kids with Yaz and his wife, you won't have room for the younger brother to have a family in the same house.  You can only have 8 Sims in a household.  You'll only have one empty spot once all 5 of the children are born, until they start moving out.

Something you'll always have to keep in mind as you move into the new generations is that you won't be able to keep everyone in the same house.  Sooner or later, you'll have to wait for someone to die or move someone out.  It helps remember this when you're planning your generations.

Yes you are right  :) eventually I will have to let someone go ... I just was hoping to have two families running in the same house, it was to be quite different from having only the parents and their children in the house as usual,
but maybe I can let the younger brother stay for a while ... he can get a wife but make no babies, and when Yaz and his wife make about 3 children, we can then move the younger brother out ....
by the way, I have the aging disabled so the old parents won't die on their own, but I might kill them soon  ???
When moving people out, do they take from the money?

If you use the "kick out" when you move, by using the computer, it will not take from your household money, but if you choose a house, they will use the money for the house.  If you have the money, then you can use it, I just usually kick them out and then follow them to see where they go.  They will have zero funds though, so if you want to play them, you might want to go the house they moved into and get them a job.
