Posing sim but no sculpting going on

I just started a Dynasty Challenge.
I am trying to have my sculptor sculpt an ice sculpture of my first generation YA sim.
The sculptor goes to the sculpting station.
The heir goes to the sculpting station and poses, but the sculptor stands there and talks and does not sculpt the subject.
When you cancel the action, she becomes stuck.

I have reset the sims, I reset all the sims in town.  I deleted the station and bought a new one.
Nothing is working.  This happens every time I try to get her to sculpt my heir.

Any advice?

Have you cleared all your cache files? 

I had some trouble with this recently and clearing my cache seemed to help me.   I also moved the sculpting station outside and made sure nothing was around it.

I have done this.  I have done a 'factory restore'.
