This great shot of a UFO was provided by snackrafice on our Forum.

The Sims 4 Get to Work features the new Alien life state. These extraterrestrials hail from the planet Sixam, which is a secret lot in the Expansion Pack. Click here for a guide to Sixam. With the EP installed, Aliens may be lurking around town in disguise. You can also meet them on Sixam and invite them to move in. This guide to Aliens will discuss their powers, the result of trying for baby between Sims and Aliens, how to reduce/eliminate Alien abductions, and Sim-Alien hybrids.

The satellite can encourage or prevent abductions by aliens
The Satellite Dish can either prevent or encourage abductions

Abductions
Abductions happen at random, but can be encouraged or discouraged via the satellite dish that comes from the Scientist Career. Sims who are in this Career reportedly have a higher chance of being abducted. For players who don't want to have a Scientist just to experience abductions or reduce them, I offer the following cheat:

  1. Control + Shift + C
  2. bb.showhiddenobjects
  3. Enter Buy Mode (F2)
  4. Type 'satellite' into the search box
  5. Satellite in misc electronics will appear - place it
  6. Now you may either stop abductions for 24 hours by clicking it, or make a Sim more likely to be abducted by selecting 'Contact Aliens'

For a detailed guide to abductions without cheating, see my How to Get Abducted in The Sims 4 guide. I also have a video version of the guide on that page which will most certainly help you to be probed.

With the Satellite on your lot, you also get access to the Alien channel on TV (!#*%[email protected]%)!

Male Pregnancy
A male Sim has been impregnated while abducted. This will result in an Alien baby.
Alien babies in The Sims 4
Alien babies have a unique cry that will get anyone's attention, so change those dirty diapers quick!

Male Pregnancy
Male Sims who get abducted may get pregnant while in the UFO - any male from Young Adult to Elder. This can result in unwanted babies. If your Sim is abducted and you want to raise the baby, see the guides to Babies and Children. The resulting baby will be pure Alien, and have access to Alien powers.

Sending an Alien baby back to the homeworld
Sending an alien baby back to the homeworld

Once the birth is over, you can click the baby's bassinet to send it back to the homeworld. It can only be done at this stage of life, so decide whether to keep it early. This will make it as though the birth never happened. If you neglect it, child services will take it away, just as they do a normal Sim baby. There is a special birth certificate you can find in your Sim's inventory after birthing the baby.

Alien children
My Sim had twins. One was changed to a boy in order to show both genders' outfits.

Despite being male, Sims who have babies via abductions can breast feed. Alien babies have a very, very alarming echo-y cry that can really affect you when wearing a headset. Trust me. Give the babies what they want and stop that crying ASAP.

Aliens' secret handshake
Aliens' secret handshake, which can only be performed between two of them.

Alien Life
Aliens have the same life span as regular Sims, and must attend school as usual. When two Aliens meet, they can perform a secret handshake. All Aliens have a disguise, which can be removed, activated, or altered at any time by clicking on the Alien. This will let you change how they appear when using the disguise. If you want to change your Alien into normal Sim clothes (without the disguise) you have to go shopping. Every Alien outfit looks the same.

Aliens without disguise
Aliens without their disguise
The disguise is activated. You can alter how they look in CAS by clicking them, without cheating.

Sims who meet Aliens can be angered, as though the government should have told them about Aliens. Once they're over it, Sims and Aliens can make good friends or even fall in love and try for baby. Aliens have a special mischief interaction, 'Scare with Probe'.

Alien Powers
An Alien uses the Analyze Personality power. This will teach them all of a Sim's Traits

Alien Powers
A pure Alien has access to a few powers other than the disguise. There is a cooldown during which they cannot use their powers afterward, but it's brief:

  • Analyze Personality (Friendly Interaction) - This will instantly reveal the Traits of the target Sim.
  • Empathize (Friendly) - Allows your Alien to take on the emotional state of the target Sim. They'll get a +1 Moodlet for whatever Emotion that Sim is experiencing.
  • Erase Memory (Mischief) - Makes a Sim completely forget your Alien as far as relationship goes (meaning they need to meet again) and the Sim will have a Dazed moodlet for a time.
  • Resurrect Dead Alien Collectibles - place the dead space alien collectible on the ground and your Alien can turn it into a live one. Thanks Mousie!
  • Transmute Elements, Metals, and Crystals - Click an Element, Metal, or Crystal that has been placed in the game world, and your Alien can transmute it. Results are random, so you may turn a common element into a rare crystal, but the object is sure to become another variant of one of these types of collectibles. There's a four hour cooldown on this ability. Thanks to Heart Foam on our Forum for bringing it to my attention and dodi90 for adding further info.
Sims 4 Aliens woohoo and try for baby
Aliens can Woohoo and 'Try for Baby'. Thankfully, males - alien or not - only get pregnant via abduction now.

Alien-Sim Pregnancies
This used to be much more complicated but a patch changed that. Male Sims will only get pregnant by abduction, so Alien-Sim pregnancies are now just like normal pregnancies (the female gets pregnant via try for baby) except that the baby will be a Hybrid. In order to guarantee a pure alien, both Sims need to be Aliens.

It's possible to get a pure Alien baby without two aliens, but it's not guaranteed. A hybrid's involvement (as parent) in pregnancy makes the outcomes more complex. Since hybrids have alien DNA, a hybrid + alien could have either a hybrid or full-blooded alien (50/50). A hybrid + hybrid could have a regular Sim (33%), hybrid (33%) or full-blooded alien (33%).

Alien-Sim Hybrid in Get to Work
An Alien-Sim Hybrid. Given she's only half Alien, she lacks the powers of her parent.

Hybrid Aliens
It would appear that any pregnancy involving a regular Sim and alien will result in a Hybrid (thanks oshizu!). A half Sim half Alien does not have access to the Alien powers, but has hair as well as the Alien's unique socials. In order to have a baby with alien powers, you must either get abducted as a male Sim or have two Aliens try for baby. Using the Satellite from the Scientist career is a good way to encourage an Alien visit, now that the rate they are abducted has been reduced by Maxis. You can also invite Aliens to move in, of course.

If you're looking to get abducted, get friendly with Mila Munch. Whether your sim is aware of it or not, she is a disguised alien. I've had 2 sims get abducted after meeting and building friendship with her. Okay, they were Incredibly Friendly sims (reward trait) and also got her into bed. Haven't had pregnancy result from any of these encounters though.

Mila isn't a disguised alien, there is a bug that happens when in a group conversation that assigns that tag to the incorrect sim. Mila is a pre-made sim that came with Get To Work and definitely isn't an alien. Some other sim that your sim was talking to at the same time would have actually been the alien. Smile

So my male scientist sim has been abducted before and no issue. Came home happy. ShockedLaugh
2nd abduction he obviously got pregnant...
I can see the genealogy side for the alien baby. Is there a way to find the alien parent other than just their name ?

No, any sim resulting from an abduction has the 'Mother' as an alien that is actually not in the Game. It will be listed as Pollinator Number such and such (or something like that) but isn't an actual NPC.

Thank you.
I was kind of hoping to find the Alien mum to have her added to the family. I did some more research to see if I could find her or something but nope nothing...
Eventually my Male sim Asher fell in love with a townie so they got engaged.
He got abducted for the 3rd time before she was due to come over for a date and "move in" and he has come back with the lovely glow and belly rumble *smacks forehead* ...
(Be curious to know if the hybrid will have the same mum as baby #1)
I was kind of bummed that the step mother (now married) does not take the title as step mum or mother on the panel to the kids :(

Playlotsays...
Hmm, the step-mother should say 'mother' in the relationship panel if your sims are married. Maybe it is different for aliens although I don't remember it that way! And yeah, it's a shame that the kids can't locate their alien mother.

I was a tad baffled as well. If I am clicked as the Wife/Mum/Step Mum - it shows in the normal relationship panel as "Good Friends" instead of Step-Mum / Mum BUT if you look at the Family tree it will show her as a step parent.

I also found it odd that despite sending the 2nd hybrid baby back to the home planet that memories of pregnancy, birth & child would be wiped.
Yet you can see the 2nd child (*Aaron) in the family tree (and as stepson).

Pollination Technician mumma - I was kind of bummed Asher could not locate her and have some sort of intergalactic romance happening (before he met Zoe) or Kyle couldn't find his long lost mother kind of thing.
I was kind of sad that Senior Pollination Tech #3 for the sons were different mums.

*I did want to load a photo to show but wasn't sure how to do that on this site.

The sent-back-alien-baby remaining in the family tree may be a glitch from the devs overlooking this relationship when redoing the family tree mechanisms. It's worth reporting this in the EA Bug Forum. Smile You'll be able to upload a pic there to explain the issue more clearly. I guess now that sims are not culled from the family tree as the generations go on..this particular relationship just was either impossible to delete or...simply the devs forgot about it.

Well, I've been planning on 3 kids for my family, and it's about to happen, but not the way I thought! Do carrots and alt rock work on alien pregnancies? First 2 kids were girls, so I'm hoping the third will be a boy.

Yes carrots/alt rock work with alien abduction babies and alien babies. Eat about 10 carrots each trimester or listen to the alternative rock station as much as possible.

I love the whole Alien thing and even made a full alien family. I just would have like to have been able to using a vampire turn an alien into a vampire. I prefer the vampires over the alien race when making a family.

"pregnancy involving a regular Sim and alien will result in a Hybrid... A half Sim half Alien does not have access to the Alien powers...... In order to have a baby with alien powers, you must either get abducted as a male Sim or have two Aliens try for baby"

This is incorrect, my male vampire sim and female alien sim two full alien babies in separate pregnancies. You can have full alien offspring with powers! Smile

I just want people to know that I had a born vampire female try for baby with alien male, and the resulting offspring was a pure alien. My game is up to date as of right now and I have the Seasons expansion.
Gravatar

Yep, when trying for baby with alien and non-alien the offspring will be one or the other as there are no true hybrids in TS4

okay so i have contacted the aliens and want my sim to get abducted. if my sim is indoors, can he still be abducted or will he have to be outside for ages? has any of your (male) sims been abducted whilst having been indoors for a long time? Also, if I make a portal thingy to the alien realm will there be more or less chance of getting abducted. Do you guys know any tricks?HuhHuhHuhHuh
Gravatar
Admin
Playlotsays...
A sim who is indoors will walk outside to then be abducted but if you are micromanaging then it might be possible to over-ride this and miss out...although the likelihood of you being to over ride this automated action is slim. I've had plenty of sims inside who then walk out and get abducted so inside v's outside isn't really an issue.
If your sim is in the Scientist Career, or is focused, or is using the telescope and has already interacted with aliens the abduction chances increase. Making an Electroflux Wormhole Generator (portal) increases the chances as it involves contacting aliens and being in the Scientist Career.
So best bet is to get your sim focused and use the telescope at night while having an Electroflux Wormhole Generator on your lot and being in the Scientist career. The chances still aren't that great so it is an exercise in patience to say the least.

So my sim, who is a vampire, got abducted and gave birth. The game can NOT figure out what the heck the baby is. The baby has both alien and vampire abilities and it's just super weird. Any reason for this?

Could be mods you may be using or just a vanilla game bug. I've heard this before from someone who wasn't using mods so it does happen from time to time.

Um actually, I mixed alien/human and they had five children, the last two were twins and the second twin was a full alien. All other children were human. Then, after a few more generations, sim and alien had hybrid kid. Hybrid married full alien, and they have two kids so far and both are full aliens.

My half alien Mum and full alien Dad had twins one full alien and one half alien. So I think the info above needs to be updated.
