I ran into the house in tears. I was done. I had completed all of my requirements!

Grandma Lysi had already prepared ambrosia for us all, and had it sitting on the table outside. It was finally time.

We sat at the table, ready to eat the ambrosia. I could hardly contain all of my emotions. So much had happened while I had worked to earn this.

As I brought the fork up to my mouth, I felt so overwhelmed. Id never felt Id deserved something as much as I deserved this. This was a symbol of all the sacrifices I made, and what theyd mean for my familys future.

But as I ate, my thoughts turned to Nolan. I could hardly believe he was gone. I could hardly believe that Id never hear his voice again. Id never feel his touch again.

In my mind, I thanked him. I thanked him for giving me the perfect life. I thanked him for giving me the perfect daughter. I thanked him for teaching me what true love was.

A smile spread across my face as I looked at my family. They were the most supportive people I could ever imagine. Without them, I would have never come this far. They were worth all the sacrifices I had made.

Just as I took my last bite of ambrosia, a weird feeling took over my body. I rose to my feet, feeling like I was flying.

This was what my life had been leading up to.
I was immortal.

I was glad I had the back up too. I started to panic when I realised that every other skill had been maxed (apart from athletics, which I was saving for Ellie). I was so lucky that I hadn't sold those nectar machines!

My name is Elara Moon. I am the eighth, and final, Moon of Jupiter. My familys fate rests in my hands.

To have the weight of seven generations of sacrifice lying on your shoulders would not be an easy task to most. Luckily for me, I was strong in the mind as well as in the body.
Id never looked at the Immortal Dynasty as a task. I was just living my life.

The main part of my life was my love for Lexie.

Wed been together since the beginning of high school. Wed never had a fight, and wed never regretted a moment together.

Although we were now young adults, we didnt act any different to how wed acted as teenagers. We still went on dates, and I was still able to beat Lexie at holding my breath underwater.

I also still liked to surprise her with flowers and gifts. I could never pamper my Lexie enough.

My mum always told me to hold onto those you love dear, and never waste an opportunity to be with them.
Shed taken the loss of dad pretty hard at the time, but was coming to terms with life without him.
Although she'd given it up as a career, she could still be found playing her guitar around the house.

She also decided that to compliment her new lifestyle as an immortal, and to bring some more happiness into her life, that she needed a change of style.
After her trip to the salon, she was looking pretty good for an elder.

I always tried to keep myself looking good too.
Youre only given one body, so I was determined to take care of mine.

My fitness helped me climb through the ranks at work. Slowly, but surely, I was making my way up to becoming an athletic superstar.

I loved the way things were going. I loved my life, my girlfriend, my mum, my family, my job, and I loved my muscles. Everything was great for the last Moon of the line.

I'm glad she's happy, particularly after all her mother's work.

...Also, I'm wondering what will come along to ruin this.

As I stood by my birthday cake, waiting to blow out my candles and become an adult, I never suspected how Id feel once I reached that stage.

But once they were blown out, the feeling didnt hide itself. I was fully aware of how old I was, and just what it was that everyone was expecting of me.
I began to freak out, wondering if Id make it, worrying that Id wasted the time Id had.

I was freaking out so much something needed to be done. I needed to change something in my life, and I needed to change it now.

I took Lexie out to the back of the property, where we were out of hearing range. I felt so bad for what I was doing, but I needed change.
I told her that I needed time for myself, and that we couldnt be together anymore.

She was understandably upset. Wed been together for such a long time. I tried to apologise for the sudden break up, but she left before I could say another word.

The coming days didnt seem to get easier. I was worried about everything. How I looked, how I acted, what I drove, if I was doing enough work, if Id ever make it.
Id spend hours, even days, working hard in my gym just to perfect my body. I didnt want like the way I was feeling I was feeling old.

Mum told me that I was experiencing what some people would call a mid-life crisis. I didnt know whether to agree or disagree, but I just wanted to stop feeling like that.

I impulsively bought a new sports car. I changed my clothes. I changed my hair colour. But nothing seemed to satisfy my need for change.

I just couldn't find a way to make the task feel easier. I just couldn't find a way to make life slow down. I just couldn't find a way to feel young again.
I just hoped to find a way soon.

Poor Lexie. Midlife crises can be so cruel to the poor bystanders.

Yes, she did wish to do that. But then, when it was over, she wished to marry Lexie, which I thought was sweet.

After days of obsessing, my mind seemed to calm down. I wasnt old. I still had a while until I was an elder.

I looked back at all the things Id done in the time of my mid-life crisis. Most of them were harmless things that I didnt regret. But one thing sank my heart.
I wondered why I ever thought that breaking up with Lexie would ever make me feeling young again. I still loved her, and still I had when I left her. I missed her terribly.

Once I got home from work that night, after receiving another promotion, I knew that I needed to do something about it. I couldnt let her out of my life.

I called her up, and she agreed to meet me at my house. I waited anxiously in the garden for her to arrive.

When she arrived, tears welled in my eyes. I apologised to her for all Id put her through, and told her that I loved her I always had and I always would.

Lexie said she understood what was going on, and had just been hoping against all hope that it was just a phase.
I felt overwhelmed that she still loved me.  She was absolutely perfect in my eyes.

That night, I held her close, never wanting to let her go. She meant the world to me.

I wasnt the only one who was caught up in my love life.
Mum had recently been getting to know a man called Jamie. He was very friendly, and had a lot in common with mum. Not too long into their friendship, theyd started dating.

Although it was weird to see mum with another man, I was happy to see that shed found someone to love again. Someone to cure the hurt from losing dad all those years ago. I welcomed my step-dad Jamie into my life.
