The Sims 4 Aspirations List

Reward Traits, Satisfaction Totals, and Milestone Summaries

The Sims 4's Aspirations are life goals that Sims may select, allowing them to complete a checklist of objectives to earn Satisfaction that may be spent toward Rewards. Unlike TS3's Lifetime Wishes, you may change your Aspiration at any time by pressing 'G' and going to the menu. Completing an Aspiration earns your Sim a related Reward Trait, and allows them to select another Aspiration from any category. Your first Aspiration choice matters in that your first Bonus Trait will not change after switching to a new Aspiration.

The following list's goal is to help you select Aspirations by providing knowledge of what you have to do in each. If, for example, you were expected to master a Skill you didn't want to, have many friends, or join a Career, it would help you to avoid selecting that. You may also prioritize certain Reward Traits first to help you complete another Aspiration later on.

Two things of note: Aspirations Milestones with the same name will be cleared on any Aspiration that shares those same objectives, meaning you will have a head start on completing those other Aspirations (usually in the same category) but not get the chance to get the Satisfaction twice. Also, those Aspiration Objectives that state 'Become an Adult' always give 0 and are meant to be barriers to Children/Teens from completing those Aspirations. They can get to the point that the Adulthood requirement appears.

Expansions and Game Packs

Most DLC comes with Aspirations that tie in with the theme of the pack. For example, Vampires allows Sims to become a Master Vampire. The Parenthood Game Pack offers Sims the opportunity to become a Super Parent via the Parenting Skill and attain the Role Model Reward Trait. Look for parentheses next to the name of the Aspiration to tell you if that life goal is only available with a game or expansion pack. If nothing's present, the aspiration is available to all players with the Sims 4 base game.

I'm guessing this is a glitch.
When my sim Lottie Calaway had the soulmate asparation, I had to quit it because of this glitch. If you want to keep a romantic asparation, I recommend Serial Romantic or Big Happy Family

is the "successful lineage" aspiration still glitched? i can't seem to fulfill the last 2 parts. have a child fulfill an aspiration and have a child or grandchild max a skill. i have done both repeatedly and still nothing.

Hi Kari!
I am going to answer your two questions you asked!
I belive in the latest patch up, the Soulmate was edited, as I managed to complete it. However, Successful Linage still seems to be glitched on my machine.
Of corse I don't know what country you are in, because America seems to have less glitches than countries like Canada, Britain and Australia. I'm in Canada, so maybe it is fixed in America and not in Canada.

Do you have any CC or Mods? First take those out your folder and then open your game. If the bug is still happening then at least you will know it is not CC/Mod related. Do not save your game without your Mods/CC in, just quit without saving.

I'm not sure what else to suggest (as aspirations can not be reset) apart from resetting your Sims 4 folder.

No as the aspiration doesn't include any particular skill. Which bit do you need help with in particular? You could also try posting your game play questions on our forum.

for the renaissance sim, that reward Professorital trait, can I write any of skill books since my writing skill at max level, or it depends on the skill I want to write?
Thank you, your guide always help me alotSmileSmile
Gravatar
Admin
Playalotsays...
You sim doesn't need to have any writing skill at all. The reward trait allows a sim to write a book in any skill that they have a few levels in. So for example, my test sim has got level 6 gardening and so he was able to write a skill book in gardening despite having no writing skill at all.
So your sim will be able to write a skill book in writing as your sim has skill points in writing. Smile

I am doing the Social Butterfly aspiration for my child, but I am stuck on the last milestone. I have to become friends with 3 children and 2 adults, but when I do, it doesn't add to the count in my aspiration and I'm not sure why
Gravatar
Admin
Playalotsays...
Any friends made before reaching this stage will not count, all new friendships made once that stage of the aspiration is chosen should. You need to have the aspiration chosen while making friends for the new friendships to show.

If you are doing all that then quit right out of your game and delete your cache files.
Clearing Cache files

If the aspiration requirements still are not completing you may need to use cheats.
Select the child sim then turn on 'testingcheats on' and type aspirations.complete_current_milestone
This will complete the requirements for that sim and only the current requirements showing in the aspiration window.

The expressionistic reward trait from the Painter Extraordinaire aspiration also allows handy sims to create emotional sculptures on the woodworking table. I am not sure what level they need to be as my sims’ handiness is maxed by the time I finish that aspiration.

Just keep fishing, when your sim catches a fish that is larger than a previously caught fish the whim will complete.
This can be with any fish, even a guppy. All your sim has to do is catch a larger guppy than s/he has caught before.
For example: It also isn't about which fish your sim caught last. Your sim might catch a guppy, a goldfish, a bass, a angelfish and then another guppy. If the second guppy is larger than the first, the whim will complete. If it is not... then your sim will have to keep fishing until they catch a bigger goldfish, bass, angelfish or guppy.

Well I have one question and one problem
Que. Do the milestones of aspirations change with each expansion pack??
Eg. The writer aspiration level one wanted me to
a) overcome writer's block in base game
b) read a book at the library after outdoor retreat
c) write for one hour when inspired after get to work...
Same for many other aspirations like freelance botanist or painter or whiz kid.. These are not major changes but still... Also the career requirements changed...

Now for the problem..
For some aspirations I finishing the task before the game asks for it doesn't seem to work...
Now I understand this in "make a friend" or "complete a painting" kinds of requirements....
But skill levels and grades and careers also???
While doing whiz kid aspiration my child sim was on 1/3 level when he got grade A in school. Now after getting on 2/3 level aspiration wants him to get grade A. Now how am I supposed to again get A grade??
Same in computer whiz...
My sim is level 7 tech guru career nd my aspiration want him to be level 5...
This never happened in base game...
Is this a bug in expansion??
Gravatar
Admin
Playalotsays...
The aspiration milestones changed with patches. Not packs, so the changes were made to the base game so that everyone who plays The Sims 4 will have the exact same aspiration milestones. Smile
And yes... there are quite a few game playing bugs around milestones completing as well as some milestones require them to be actively selected when your sim does the 'certain thing'. It's designed this way for game play as sometimes you might want your sim to paint (for example) but not to complete the aspiration so if your sim paints a masterpiece and does not have the painting aspiration actively selected, the masterpiece won't count towards the requirement. With the Whiz Kid sometimes going back to school the next day completes it. But with many bugs, the only thing you can do is to use the 'aspirations.complete_current_milestone' cheat and then carry on.

My issue is with the Big Happy Family aspiration (and the other family one). My children are now teens but even though one of them has made more than 3 friends subsequent to the parent reaching this level of the aspiration, it isn't marking it off. One child got married and moved out (would have been too many in the household) but I still can't get the 3 friends. Do the parents have to have another child then get friends before becoming a teen? Do relatives count (aunts, cousins, uncles)?Crying
Gravatar
Admin
Playalotsays...
This part of the aspiration has been tweaked in a recent patch to allow friends the child made previously to count. But it is one of those requirements that need to be actively chosen for it to complete. It needs a child to have 3 friends, not a teen. You can always use a cheat to complete just that requirement level.

Just have a quick question about the serial romantic aspiration. When it says to kiss 10 sims, does that mean 10 DIFFERENT sims? Or can I choose one of my sims' boyfriends or girlfriends, and kiss them a bunch of times?
Gravatar
New
thunderboltsays...
Ten different Sims. Although they need not be first kisses. U can kiss the same Sims with whome u already had first kisses.
But once this part of aspiration starts there have to be 10 kisses with 10 different Sims to complete it.

Choose 3 different toys that come with the toy box and leave the child to play with each toy until the child completes the interaction. (i.e. don't cancel the child playing).

Sometimes this glitches out and all you can do is use the aspirations.complete_current_milestone cheat.

You could try saving, quitting and restarting your game as this might reset things but generally once this glitch occurs it takes quite some sim weeks for the soul mate status to activate.

Gravatar

Playalotsays...
First try just simply coming out of your game and opening it again. Often glitches like that are sorted that way. If the reward trait has still not been added and the aspiration is 100% completed you will need to cheat to add in the trait. I'd look at twisted mexican's wikki page as he has an amazing list of cheats there.

You can't. You could make a clone/twin of that sim in CAS and then play with that sim, who will look the same etc and basically be the same sim if you give it the same aspiration and traits, but of course would be an unplayed sim.

Fantastic guide! Hope you can help me with my problem too. I'm doing the Freelance botanist aspiration and got stuck on Milestone IV, evolving 10 excellent plants. I started with 6/10 excellent plants but for some reason instead of counting up when my plants evolve it counts down so now I have 0/10 excellent plants! Does it have anything to do with the plants having evolved past the exellent stage or is it a glitch?
Gravatar
Admin
Playalotsays...
Definitely a glitch. Evolving plants in general right now are glitched so we are waiting/hoping for a developers fix. You may need to manually cheat that aspiration requirement as completed so your sim can progress. Pause your game with the target sim selected.

My sim has completed the successful lineage aspiration minus having her daughter reach the top of her career. If I kick the daughter out now with a level 3 job, will it still count towards it? Also will my sim still get her vicarious skill gains when her children are no longer in thw household?

The sims need to be all in the same household for the aspiration requirements to be completed. The skill gains will also only occur from other sims in the same household.
