Nobody leaves their kid at my daycare
« on: April 03, 2012, 10:38:56 AM »
My sim is on level 4 on the daycare profession, and suddenly nobody brings their kids in the morning. On her work-tab it says she is currently working, but no toddlers or children ever arrive. Before, I've had a day or two when "morning kids" didn't arrive but then in the afternoon, the school kids still came. Now it's been 3 in-game days without any work at all. My town has lots of toddlers and children so it's not about having no children to attend the daycare.

Any tips how to fix this?
I think this started when I sent my other sim on a trip: when she returned, the daycare sim got a day off from work in the middle of the week for some reason and after that, I haven't seen any children at my place.

you could try quitting the job and rejoining it?

I'll try those things the next time I play, thanks for the hints! :) It's now been a full week without any "clients" so I think it's not going to solve itself.
I didn't try quitting before because I was afraid she would loose career progress, but then again, I don't need to save after trying if it doesn't help.

Edit.
Quitting the career fixed this!
It also dropped her from nearly maxed lvl4 to the start of lvl2, but I used testingcheats to get her back to where she was before.
Thanks again!

Which is why I will not be going into the daycare career again unless I have two other self-employed sims living in the house.

For some reason, since joining the daycare profession, it's been two Sim weeks and no kids have been dropped off at all. I think I'm missing something here, or else could it be that I play with motives static and maxed (because I'm weird like that :p) and that's bugging it? I cannot think of anything else to explain it. I've tried quitting and picking up the career all over again but it's still not working :/

Any ideas? I don't have the 'Pets' patch (no thanks, don't want it, don't want to go through and find alllll my CC furniture either to update it), nor do I have Showtime.

ETA; I read this thread on the subject already.

Have you try and start a new game? I don't think needs static can be a problem. It only affect your sim. Perhaps the problem is with that one game.

I dunno... I think this could very well be it. When you play with the needs static and maxed, Sims lose whatever little free will they have. Without any needs, they lose any motivation to do anything. Even though there are obviously actions in the game that are not directly related to the six basic needs, when those maxed and never change, my sims just stand around aimlessly and I need to direct them for every action. I assume the same is true for you?

Now, I know this should only apply to your active household, but in my mind there's a slight possibility (however remote) that you've got a whole town just standing around staring into space. It shouldn't work like this, but it could just be a glitch. The first thing I'd try is making the needs dynamic again and seeing if that fixes anything. If it doesn't, then yeah, you might need a new game.

As you'll see from the previous discussion, quitting the career and rejoining might also help... you can always use testingcheats to pick up exactly where you left off in terms of career level.

I never play with needs static it does make sims sort of lifeless. And free will is what make sim3 such a awesome game. Turn the needs dynamic may just do the trick.
