Wishes to Teach Toddlers - A Nice Tip
« on: October 05, 2012, 07:40:27 AM »
When I mentioned this tip in a Silverbella's story, a lot of people didn't know this so I thought it would be useful to share.

When you have a Sim as a toddler, the parents usually spawn wishes to teach them skills. e.g. Teach Sam to Talk. The parent who spawns this wish actually does not have to teach the toddler to talk for the wish to be fulfilled. The toddler only has to learn to talk. e.g. Mother spawn Teach Sam to Talk wish. Father spawns the Teach Sam to Walk wish. Mother teaches Sam to Walk and father fulfills wish. Father teach Sam to Talk and mother fulfills wish.

I hope this may be of help to anyone.

I've actually never gotten points if it wasn't the person with the wish completing the task.  The wish disappears because it's not doable anymore but I've never gotten points for it as the other person.  Thanks for the tip.  Now if only I had a toddler that needed training, so I could test it out.

The sim who gets a wish to train toddlers to walk, talk, and potty gets the points no matter who teaches him/her in my games.

Jude is right, when Colt taught Heather to walk, He and Penny both filled the wish for it. This has happened, I believe since Generations came out.

I tend to wait until as many people as possible pop up the wishes so they all get the points.

Getting the points is cool (it happened with me as well), but every adult in the house, regardless of whether they're actually related to the child getting a memory for teaching toddler skills isn't so cool.

I grabbed a random couple and tested it and yeah it worked.  I guess I hadn't tried it since Generations came out.  After it not working for a long time, I just automatically make the parent who gets the wish do it.  Now I know better.  Gogo - you're amazing!

Wow, Gogo, that's very useful!

I have that happen to me all the time!  Dad gets wish to teach toddler how to walk, mom teaches toddler how to walk, Dad gets wish.  I hope that EA never makes a patch that gets rid of that.  Because that is purely awesome.

lol Thanks Rica!

I'm glad that this has been a help to you all. I was actually surprised when not a lot of people knew because I just stumbled upon it.

Like I said, this was not possible way back in the beginning of Sims and for a long time after so I never tried it again.   I'm glad you mentioned this, truly. One of the things that used to make me maddest was that little tidbit there but now it's all better ;D  Artie is going to be training a lot of toddlers in the future.
