My child sim wants to daydream. Any idea how to go about that?

Is it an option if you click on her? Or you could try the bed. If not, she may need to be in the right mood. I think either playful or inspired should do it.

If you hover over the requirement in the Aspirations panel, it will tell you what you need to do.
I believe she needs to have a certain Creativity level and/or be inspired.
