Relic Information Needed

When Relics are made, do they instantly apply the effects? Or do you have to activate them purposely? Need to know because I plan on making every Relic for decorative/collecting purposes and want to be prepared. Thank you for the information and I apologize if this is already a topic I couldn't find while searching.

After you make it, you use it to apply a temporary buff (or debuff) to a target.  So having a collection in your house won't cause mayhem or anything.

A relic is only activated by fusing the top and bottom together and inserting a refined crystal, then your Sim has to manually activate it themselves, so no, it won't trigger on it's own if that's what you're worried about.
