Wow, really? Grim came and everything? They always have the Handy trait and level 10 in the Handiness skill, but the hot tub is a high end repair. I'm surprised, but I guess it's not impossible.
I'd like to hear from others about having accidents, too. I've always been very lucky with my Sims and have had very few accidents in the 2.5 years I've been playing Sims 3, but I know that's not normally the case. If you post about having an accident or disaster, be sure to include how long ago it happened so maybe we can track if it's changed and when the change happened.
Thinking back, it's been a while. Unless I actively ignore them for a long time my Sims seem to be unusually satisfied. My kitchens don't catch fire, I've only had one meteor and while inventors and Sims at the chemistry table get singed it's not serious. Occasionally Sims used to take it upon themselves to repair things and die. I had a butler get electrocuted while trying to repair a hot tub, various Sims tried to repair electronics and it didn't go well for them.
I'm not trying to kill off my Sims or be morbid but it does make the game less random and surprising.
If I were to really test this what kind of things should I try for? As in what are the most accident prone traits? Does one town over another seem to spawn more accidents? Do the cheap stoves catch fire more?
What really brought this up in my mind was the fact that I had three Sims in a row repair electronics safely when they had no handiness skill at all. One repaired a dishwasher while standing in a puddle, one repaired a lap top and one repaired a big TV.
