Horse not learning certain traits
« on: December 07, 2011, 04:17:57 AM »
I've had this problem for a while but none of my horses seem to learn the obedient/neat/friendly traits. I've had a long running test with a genius/brave/quiet horse and an equestrian sim. I've gotten the jumping and racing all maxed out and still not learned those traits, it did learn playful/fast/agile after a very short time after starting. I praised every interaction, even repeating it time after time did not seem to make it learn the trait.

I'm running one mod and some custom hair and store content. I'm considering reinstalling it fresh without mod, before I start with a Legacy but hopefully won't have to do it. I hope someone here might know the problem. :-\

We don't endorse mods here, so if you have a problem and are using the mod, you would probably be better asking where you got it. We can't help here with any problems that could be due to mods.

A way to learn your horse the obiedient trait , is to let the horse throw your sim and then scold him.

Thanks for the tip loveSims. If that doesn't work I'll do a full reinstall and see if I still get the bugs about skills not being learned. I've been wanting to get rid of the mod anyway. Just wondered if there was anything else maybe from store items might cause such problems.

To get rid of all the custom things, it is best to reinstall. I don't use it, but have learned on the forum that it could harm your game. The spell book can cause problems with pet skills.

The store items were known to cause problems with skills, not traits.  So you need to make the horse do an interaction that could be praised or scolded for. That's the best way to learn new traits if you can't get them to learn other ways.

Hi Nimm, welcome to our forum.

I edited your post where you mentioned the name of mod you were using. Our forum policy is strongly against using mods and CC, and therefor we are not even naming them here. Please make shore to reread The Forum Rules (Link is in my signature).

Thank you,
Anushka

PS about the issue, when you are using mods and/or CC it is always the first guess that bug is caused by them, just as you asumed too. You may simply try removing or renaming the Mod folder from My Documents/EA/Sims3, and run the game without custom content to see if that will change anything. In any case I tend to do a clean reinstall of the game each time bugs start appearing.
