Gravestones of Family Who Died Off-Lot

I just had a death in my dynasty game (spouse of gen 2). However, he died outside the hospital on leaving work, and I can't now find his grave anywhere. I've got a family cemetary where I want to put him, but the grave's never appeared. It's not in any of the family's inventories, or in the cemetary, or outside the hospital or on the home lot. Any ideas, anyone?

Try "manage the dead" on the mausoleum? That's weird, though - every family member I've had die on a community lot, the gravestone has been left in that spot for one of my sims to pick up and move.

Search carefully around the spot where he died.  Sometimes the grave marker isn't in the exact spot where we think it would be.  I also agree with cathyknits.  Try clicking on the mausoleum at the cemetary and choose Manage the Dead.  If you find his name there, you can put the grave marker in your Sim's inventory.

EDIT: The mausoleum trick worked. He's now safely in the family cemetary.
