Prologue

We were once royalty, I can tell you that.



Now, we're just the opposite.

I remember being a little girl, curled up in bed, and innocently listening to Grandma's stories..

At least I thought they were stories.

She told me that once, a long time ago, that the my family ruled Monte Vista. We weren't selfish and greedy, like most kings and queens are in fairy tales. We were very kind, generous, and selfless rulers, and were more than happy to hear their citizen's suggestions.

But times changed.

One day, a huge, nasty rumor surfaced. The rumor was that we were using the money that the citizens paid for taxes for our own comfort. Angry, the citizens started a rebellion, and burned down the castle. Only a few of us escaped the flames.

A new leader was chosen, I think his last name was Costa. And my family hid in a poor part of town. We've been there ever since.

How do I know this was real? Well I stumbled upon the name Costa, I work in politics, and I saw his name on the guest list for one of the political fundraisers. I hung out by the entrance awhile, until I saw a man enter.

"Name please?" Ace, the man behind the counter asked.

"Dante Costa." The man grunted.

I eavesdropped on him for awhile, and got more suspicious as I did so. All he did was eat, and text on his iPhone. I didn't see what he was texting about, but the look on his face told me that it was important.

He left 30 minutes before the candidate's speech. From that day, I knew that those stories were true.
As the last member of the Lombardi family, I promise to bring our name back to royalty.

Lots of good prospects for spouses and houses in Monte Vista. Hope you get farther on this one! I'm on my third attempt at a decadynasty, so it's not unusual for people to run into problems.
