Holiday Designator for private Lot

Does anyone know how to use the holiday designator for a private lot? I want my sims' house decorations to change with the seasons. Is it possible?

Thank you. I'm assuming from that explanation that I would put the marker outside even if I want to add (say Christmas) decorations inside the house as well.

The location of the marker isn't all that important. The real reason to do so is so that it won't get in your way when doing your building. It will work for the entire lot regardless of relative positioning.

Thank you. I've found out that it won't "place" inside the house so that question has been answered

I believe Vinyl had a seasonally-decorated house up in the swap shop if you want to take a look - or download and dismantle
