Vampire not skilling fast

People are saying that vampires max out skills at night in two sim hours or something, but this is never the case with my vampires. I know it is working, since it is improving a little and the bats are flying around the skill bar. Just no maxing quickly. Anybody know why?

That only applies to vampire children and teens. Adult vampires gain skills faster at night, but it'll still take them a while to max them.

I've noticed it seems to work on some skills more than others, or at least for me it did.
Like my sim learned sculpting and inventing in just a few minutes each but cooking and fishing I couldn't tell much difference.

No, I wasn't reading the books. I was fishing and cooking. I could tell they was going up a little faster than normal but nothing like some of the other skills did. Athletics was another one for me that didn't seem to go up a lot faster except for the fact that a vampire doesn't get fatigued and can exercise until he had to stop to eat or sleep.

Then others were unreal like the sculpting made level 10 before he finished his first sculpture and painting made level 10 on his 6th small painting.

And his wife that he turned to a vampire takes longer to learn the skills than he did but his daughters who were born vampires seem to learn faster than he did. I know with the daughters part of it was reading the skill books to them when young. Like with painting they made level 3 soon as the started to paint but made level 10 before they finished they're second small painting. And fishing it almost seemed they made level 10 as soon as the line got wet.
If I remember right the wife had made level 10 on her 10th painting.
And I gave the whole family have the same traits as he had.

My vampires usually take a night to earn level 10 on 1 skill. But I had this one once that was out in the sun for a while, a sim hour or so. And she would feel weak, and wouldn't even learn skills with the little flying bat over her head. And her needs bar would drop a lot faster. I kept her in doors, well underground,  for 2 days and everything seemed back to normal. So it could be do to excessive sun.
