Kids can't do homework

I have a family of 8 sims: 2 adults, 3 teens, and 3 children. The teens can do their homework and one of the kids but the other two kids can't.  I can't click on their homework, it won't help if their parents tell them to do their homework.
I did some cheating to keep them happy. Has this happen to anyone else?
They can however copy the homework of their sister and I will try to see if they can do it in school. I can't drag their homework from their bags either. Is there any way besides copying or do it in school that I missed to get around this?

I didn't even think of that since they can move around and such. Thanks I will try that when I play tomorrow.

They made a trip to China and when they came back again they could suddenly do their homework again. I don't know what happened. They had been unable to do it during several gaming sessions!
