You're right about that, Pam. Riverview does seem to repopulate more quickly. Sunset Valley was a ghost town after 5 generations of my lagacy family, so I added some CAS sims to the empty houses. I know it's against the legacy rules, but I really needed to see some fresh faces.
Back on subject, I am working on a baby boomer challenge and so far there are 9 kids and counting (yes,I have spent a lot of time with my sims this weekend). I must have the lucky trait because all 9 have moved out and are still in the neighborhood. Working on baby number 10 right now. This might be the last one because mom is pretty close to elder and I don't think she is real happy about being a broodmare (of course Dad is happy as clam and has constant wishes to woohoo with her. I'm surprised she doesn't beat the tar out of him every time he gets near her, lol.)

I'm doing the Baby Boomer Challenge. I've had a surprising amount of fun with it, even though I don't really like the toddler or baby stages. Thank goodness for the baby sitter, he practically lives at my house.

Believe me, if raised right, real life kids are a lot more fun to be around than sim toddlers are. Unless of course your name is Thorton Wolff.

I'm in love with toddlers too now Pam! Yay! We should start a club, LOL! But after a few sim days i get bored of kids. They can do plenty, i just get bored. I have about 10 families with kids and teenagers that I can't be bothered playing any more. I wish i was more patient. But I just cant think of ways to make them more interesting. :(

I had this problem as well first, but I found it gives great satisfaction to see 'your' kid grow up and get a successful job.

The idea is probably unappealing to me because I am only 14.

Let's just say I don't dream about prom or my wedding or living in the suburbs.

hehe yeah, that explains something.
Wouldn't be right for the kid if you were constantly working at the hospital I guess

Those little sim kids are pretty cute, but as babies and toddlers they can be somewhat boring, so I just put them down on the ground and feed them when they need it, but otherwise ignore them. They have plenty of time to have fun when they've grown and I can lazily put them in front of the TV!

I mostly make them learn a few skills when they have satisfied their needs.
saves quite some time and money learning as a teen.

Yeah, kids are good that way, but can you learn babies and toddlers "normal skills"?

The best part is teaching them to walk, talk, and go potty!  And now children can interact with toddlers by giving a bottle, hugging, and playing peek-a-boo.  And if you read the child development books to toddlers, they'll have a head start on "real" skills (or let them read the books themselves).  Oh, and they gain real skill by playing with the pegbox and xylaphone.  It's not just about feeding and changing diapers.  :D

Hello Everybody!

I am still a newbie to the Sims3 game and I am really enjoying it despite all of the usual "bugs" and "glitches" that we all have to deal with. I hope EA hurries up and will fix them...but, onto the subject of the babies...

I started out with my married couple having 1 baby....a girl.  After they worked really hard to achieve their lifetime wishes and advanced to the top of their careers, my guy's an astronaut, and my girl's a power broker, oh and my wife Sim ownes all of the businesses around town, I gave Nancy Landgraab, my boss, the big boot out of her big mansion and moved my family in...he he he...

So, to begin with I disabled aging and upped the lifespan to the max, so that my family would have plenty of time to build their careers and reach their lifetime goals. All other options were enabled as well. That was all fine and dandy until Stephano decided he wanted to get to know Morgana Wolfe after peeping inside of her window and she looked really fine in her leopard spotted skivvies. So he romances her right in front of Thorton, and wins her heart and they woo hoo'd and made a baby boy. He decided to move her into his household and then tried to keep both women happy and satisfied....eh hem...and all the while trying not to get "caught". So, the day after Morgana had her first baby, they made a new baby and ole Stepho decided wifey needed to have their second child as well to satisfy his and her wishes for lifetime points. (When the new wishes pop up in the window to have more kids, I very quickly reject it...lol) Both women have their babies on the same day....and being the clueless newbie that I am, I did not realize what I was getting my Sims into....OH MY GOSH! Wifey ends up having a boy, but Morgana decided to have twin girls! So, now my household has 5 babies and 3 adults and utter caos is an understatement. The adults are all pulling their hair out and holding their ears when the babies all are screaming at the same time. LOL, it is so funny to watch them as they try to care for all of their needs, and try to care for their own as well. I get a kick out of watching them stand and tap their foot on the floor while they wait to take care of the same baby....and they seem to give each other dirty looks when they pass each other by....lol. Sometimes I make all of the adults go to town for a break and the poor babysitter just stands in the middle of the nursery holding his ears and looking really scarred...LOL! I had to knock down the wall between the two bedrooms and create a huge nursery, complete with beds and all of the toys available....this is where I am hoping to keep all the babies during their entire baby and toddler days. It makes it much easier to help the adults care for the babies. Poor Morgana had to quit her job at the hospital to be a stay at home mom. Stephono and his wife Talia are keeping their jobs so that they don't lose their pensions and progress. Somebody needs to tell EA to develop a live in Nanny option!

Ok, so, now that I have created this "happy" household, I quickly enabled aging and lowered the lifespan bar so that I can get through this baby/toddler stage as quickly as I can....and never ever...EVER let this happen again. LESSON LEARNED....lol.

Reading all of the posts here have entertained me as well as created fear for the next phase to come...5 toddlers to train....oh my! For those of you who have managed more than my 5 babies in a household....my hat is off to you! Thanks to ALL who have shared their stories!

Wow, five toddlers is going to be pure torture! Good thing you have three adults.

Today in CAS, I decided I felt like ruining a sim's life by giving her SEVEN toddlers, lifespan on long. I have around 15 days to teach 21 life skills while keeping them all happy. Oh No!

I forgot the mother's name, but she doesn't look like a mother. She's wearing all pink and she's a little snobby. You know the type (if not, it's what you call a "cow" LOL). So, I've given up on day 1. Well... I'm going back to it, but it's such a pain!

She taught one to talk then called a babysitter because they all needed a diaper change at the same time. The babysitter was nice, she went straight to them, apart from when they got in her way to another one. They were all on those block table things together, it was so funny.

I'll update on how it goes, but I doubt it will go well. *Gulps* Wish me luck! I'm going to need it. LOL!

It definatly was fun, although a little stressful when they all needed things, i didn't get back to it today, i'll try tommorow!

At first i was going to have that one evil kid amoungst lots of cute babies, but then i changed my mind, they're all cute babies! The mum is blond with pink tips and highlights (LOL) and there are 2 red heads, a couple blondies and brownies and one with the same as her mum.

So far i dont have a favourite, I think they all have different traits but i cant remember very well. I might start a story in the story section... if it goes well. Gulp!

Oh and the funny thing is her LTW is Surround by Family, to have five INFANTS age up to teen! That means when they all grow up she has to have five more! I'll probably give up by then, but i'm hoping to stick this through!

P.S. - I cant wait for the new Baby Boomer challenge! Lets see if Pam can beat Metro this time, then they will have won 1 Baby Boomer each! The battle is on!

The most children I've had in TS3 has been four, and thank god none of them were twins or triplets, although I did have a few overlapping, so I had two toddlers and a baby at the same time, which wasn't that bad since I had both parents rearing the children.
The family I was playing before the computer broke had twin girls, and I was really enjoying raising them; they were toddlers and one was a daddy's girl and the other a mammy's girl so they were best friends with a parent each.
In TS2 I had one family with 8 children, this was after the University expansion pack so I was moving out the eldest two children to university so they could go find parters of their own! I didn't enjoy having a family with that many Sims in if I'm honest, especially once I added a cat and dog later on. It just ended up being too much- I couldn't keep the Sims I wanted happy to stay happy, and the ones I maybe enjoyed tormenting I couldn't take an active role in screwing up their lives.
For TS3 I'm not sure I want to raise the number of children for one family above four, I like making them happy so I can pick the traits, because one of the babies ended up with loner and I had plans for her to get into politics. Which kinda didn't end up happening lol.
Grr Argh!

My sim adopted 3 kids, then had one of her own by a neighbour then had twins, now she pregnant again by another guy. And is flirting with a third guy, but he won't kiss her cos she's pregnant with the second guys baby.  :-*
