Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Oh, since I'm here, you can't consign gems or rocks, right? I never could...

I've had to start a brand new file for my challenge because my consignment store has gotten so buggy. However, upon opening up the first 'buy' dialogue, I discovered that items from my previous game, in a different town are listed in my consignment store!! Is this just a matter of needing to clear caches? Has anyone seen this one before (sorry, I haven't quite gotten through the dozen pages of posts on the topic yet)

I've tried using the Consignment Shop to sell my wares. I've tried it for the Painter, Nectar Maker and Gardener Careers. Whenever I sold my paintings, the experience bar rises. It is also the same case with the nectar. I really think the consignment store is the place to double the selling price of your items.

One problem I've encountered is when I try to sell multiple items and some of them don't get sold. When I try to talk to the consignment specialist about selling my wares again, the screen for selling items doesn't pop up. So I tried cancelling the remaining unsold items and try to talk about selling again. That did the job.

Digging into the consignment code, I can see that there are four weights added to the sale probability - Skill, Value, Frequency and Age (0.1, 0.2, 0.2 and 0.3 respectively). I'm not 100% sure on the last two - frequency of attempting to sell it? Age of the item? Thought this might be some useful information. There's also stuff about probability X vs probability Y, but all the Maths that's going through my head right now is basic trigonometry.

I love the Consignment Store! It's makes money making so much easier! Ambitions is my favorite EP!

I'm getting a little snippy with the consignment store lately - no matter how often my Sim goes through the Buy tab in order to get to the consigning bit, the cashier just gives that annoying shake of his head and nothing happens. I don't know how to fix this, or if I'm missing something, but it's really starting to cramp the cash inflow of my Sim family.

I got a similar bug after installing University. My sim would interact with the clerk but then he would drop the action and nothing would happen. I fixed it by doing a factory reset (instructions are in the Technical Help Board). But it only fixed new save files, the old ones are still bugged.

If I can't fix it without that, then, my Dynasty is so screwed.

Well, while I was looking for a fix some people suggested bulldozing and replacing the store, and also using testingcheats to replace the register. Resetsim * was also an option, but none of them worked for me so I had to do a factory reset. You could still try though, every computer is different and the game sometimes just has a mind of its own  :P.

Oh, and you could try cleaning your caches too, if you haven't.

You may have some expired items already listed for consignment.  Have the Sim who has listed items click on the register and select "Cancel Consignment".  You'll get a screen to confirm what you wish to cancel.  After that, the register will work again.

I suspect that may have been the case, now that I look back on it. Unfortunately, I already deleted the file and restarted it - not only was the Consignment store being buggy, but the spouse of the second generation kept sinking through the second story floor, and was visible from below. How irritating.
Thank you, however, for that advice. If I run into the problem again I'll try that method.

Some people were also saying that having seeds, and particularly special seeds, in inventory could cause the bug to. I had forgotten about that somehow  :).

That very well could have been the reason, too...gosh, how odd. Glitches or bugs like that are like the Sims version of the Theory of Everything.

I know this is an old thread, but I've just started playing Sims with the Ambitions expansion. I have a self-employed inventor who is maxed out on all of her skills. She was selling at the consignment shop, no problem. She's had items for sale there for a week in sim time and now nothing is being sold and she's stuck at level 4 in the inventor profession. Her gems are selling like mad at Aleister's. Do I need to replace the Consignment Store? I've done the "cancel consignments", as I had many pieces. Now I have 4 for sale and am waiting to see if these will go. Any suggestions?  :(
