They don't need to be by a road; Pam in her Immortal Dynasty fit them all into Sunset Valley, but some were never near roads. It's not pretty, but as long as it works, it's fine.

It seems that when you place an extra non-combined school the kids automatically transfer there, at least that's how it works in my game, no option to transfer.  It works fine for school opportunities but the afterschool opp (I got Ballet Recital) still goes to the original combined school-stadium, and no option to complete it.  Does it still count in that case? You don't always get school opp and able to complete it within the week...

I've been able to add all the Late Night clubs to Twinbrook, thought the result isn't pretty and they're a little out of the way (about five crammed near the military base, and another four near the Darer abode). Then again, it isn't pretty in any town but Bridgeport.

Yes, but how about the buildings from other expansions like pets and showtime?

Wiry is right, SV is a good option since it has 11 free lots (with all ep's and sp's) and most losts are preplaced. Although that is actually a disadvantage, since many placed lots look out of place. Small buildings are placed on very big lots, so that looks weird and is a waist of space needed for other buildings.

I am actually looking into the worlds of the store Lucky Palms and Lunar Lakes. No lots of ep's are preplaced and LP has 24 (!) available lots and LL has 15. For this reason LP looks most appealing to me and I love what that world looks like. Although I have never played LL, so that could be interesting too. Besides, don't forget there can be many parks purchased and changed. Hmmm, interesting indeed... *dives in the game to do some further research*

As someone who's playing in LP, it's a blast. I didn't place any of the clubs from LN because I don't plan on using Mixology or the celebrity system (paparazzi and the whole "OH NOES OCCULT WOOHOO IS HAPPENING!" annoys me). I was able to place SN buildings fine, though.

If the game doesn't allow you to complete due to glitch then yes it still counts for you per earlier allowances to other players.

@Odie - When you purchase a lot in game, you're allowed to use any of the Objects found in the community section that can be found while in buy mod.  This means that if you redesignated one of the large small parks (that are basically empty but without the <> shape under it) to Big Park and then bought it in game.  You could choose to place the film studio or a school or Bistro or Stadium.  Whatever you wanted to.

Also - as per the rules - dont forget you can change where lots are preplaced (auto placed) - If Sunset Valley puts the fire station somewhere you don't like it, you have full permission per the new rules to move it to where you want it to free up that spot for something else.

If you have any questions, let me know.  I was able to fit a lot of buildings in Sunset Valley but hardly any of the LN bars because I don't bother with mixology.  You can use UC bars and some of the ones that came with other expansions like the Vampire Lounge of MF, The Dive Bar of AP.

I am thinking I am also going for LP, because many available lots are very big and it has a wonderful scenery. The free lots in LL are quite small. But tell me Shirin, why do you have such a blast playing LP? :)

And the wishing well doesn't have to be deleted, right? I remember a post about the wishing well, that it was allowed to fish in it. Didn't you ask that, Shirin?

@Rica - Thanks for that info. Maybe I should check which Objects you can place in the community section.
It is good to know that auto placed lots can be moved. But can they also be deleted if I don't want them? Since in LP or LL I would never place those, could that mean an advantage choosing LP or LL, for my personal choice at least.
It is a good tip you give about using bars etc from UC. I forgot about that. Sizes from LN are often hopeless, thanks!
What is wrong with mixology? ;) I just noticed both you and Shirin mentioning in a row not to bother with that.

Another question, hope it is not silly. How about the spawners? Do the SN spawners you need for elixirs also pop up in earlier worlds like LP?

Spawners will show up no matter what town you're in.  They put the alchemy stuff as part of the normal spawners that came with the game.  Also, once you learn alchemy, you'll get two spawners on your home lot - one for gems/metals and one for insects.

As for LP & LL with preplaced lots, they don't have any.  Sunlit Tides is the same way.   You will never have a firestation, salon or anything of that nature placed without your permission in those three towns.  So you'll have to look for it.

If you don't want a preplaced lot, yes you can delete it.  I get rid of BonBon park in every world I play.

Thanks for your answer! I am happy to hear your explanation about the spawners. Now I am looking forward to settle my Dynasty in LP :)
I actually find it easier if the game doesn't preplace lots in a town, especially for challenges. I don't mind looking for all the lots I want. I have already put them in my library. I just have to copy the lots from UC and then I can Edit my town for my new LSD (and now I notice the nice abbreviation haha) Ok let's call it LSDC then.

I get rid of BonBon park in every world I play.
I very much agree with you on that one ;D

:D I'm glad that I was able to help and actually it's preferred that we don't use acronyms for the dynasties.  So they will always be Immortal Dynasty, Townie DecaDynasty and Life States Dynasty vs ID/TDD/LSDC.

Aye, I did ask about the wishing well, and it can stay as long as it's not used for wishing, just for fishing.

The reason I like LP so much is because it's a change. Previously, I've only played in SV or Riverview (more of the former), and I did use SV for my Immortal Dynasty, so I'm kind of bored with it. Plus, because the Life States allows you to pick your own lot, I'm getting more of a challenge out of having to use the space available in a more efficient way (I play on a pretty small lot). Don't get me wrong, I completely understand the reason for taking the biggest lot available in Immortal Dynasty - it just became burdensome having all the space, because I felt compelled to try and fill it all. With my current lot, I just can't fill it all without creating pathing problems.

Anything that takes up an opportunity slot counts as an opportunity. So yes.

I'm pretty sure that if it takes up and opportunity slot it counts - so that would also include the 'neighbourhood grillathon', 'eating contest', 'chess competition' etc

Edit: ombradellarosa you beat me to it :)

Awesome.

She just spawned another op too (this time for martial arts), so I'm more than safe.

Okay, so Cadmium finally completed all of her requirements, just before her elder birthday. Pappy was considerate and didn't die right beforehand. I gave her a tattoo and a makeover in celebration.

The game decided to crash on me while I was making her over.

Just needed to get that off my chest. My last save is from when she was somewhere around halfway through her requirements, so I'll be okay.

In case you don't know,  there is currently a huge bug going on with weddings where two people who don't live in the same household aren't getting the option to move in with one another.  All the buffs and wedding presents are appearing but the actual marriage/moving into a new household is broken.    Until I've heard more, just bear this in mind and move the Sim in before getting married.

Edit: This came with the new patch 1.42.

I am having the worst time with my dynasty file. It will not save. I have narrowed it down to when the wedding party starts. Don't know if that's connected to the new patch or not but it's driving me crazy. I can't play my game!

Have you tried playing through the wedding and then once it's all over, just resetSim* the whole town - go into Map mode or Edit Town mode and then saving?

Actually, after trying different saves and all of them failing, I tried just plain Save again and for some reason it worked this time! Crazy, huh? Anyway, I hope it keeps working! Wish me luck!

Hi everyone!  :D Longtime lurker here, but I've been having fun with the dynasty challenges (the Townie DecaDynasty is addicting) and decided to try my hand at this one now that I've got Supernatural.

I've got a couple of questions:

1) So I rolled an Evil fairy and promptly stuck her in the Criminal career. Her LTW is Emperor of Evil but I want to save Logic for another heir so I decided to make her max out the Criminal track first. As a reward for becoming a Bank Robber, she was allowed to keep an art piece (Smooth Jam in Three Parts) as an "acquisition." The question is, does this count as a career reward? Or is it just an incidental and I should only concern myself with the Golden Fox and the Athletic skill certificate?

2) My founder fell for her boss without any prompting from me (I think their mutual Commitment Issues brought them together lol) and I want to bring him into the household as soon as possible before anything happens to him (death, Elder-ness, Zombie-ness, etc). The thing is, he recently acquired a dog who gave birth to three puppies, which are currently up for adoption. If I move him in now, will all four dogs come along? Or just the mother? I already have several cats and I'd really hate to bring in all these dogs..

Thanks a bunch.  ;)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

1) I don't recall exactly where I saw it, but I do recall a ruling that the acquisitions are not counted as career rewards, so it'd be the certificate and the fox. Since it wasn't given to you as part of the career, it was just your share of the loot.

2) I believe all of the dogs would need to come with him, but - how many cats is "several"? Remember, you can have up to 8 Sims, and up to 6 Pets, so long as the household total does not exceed 10. So if you already have 4 cats, you'd have an issue with the dogs.

I'm wanting to move someone in as a wife for my teen heir. But she's an elder. Am I ok to move her in and give her a Young Again potion?

You would have to wait for your heir to be a young adult before you move her in. If you need to keep her alive, buy a tattoo chair or a makeover station and work some age-resetting magic. Or find a fountain of youth potion, so you can make her a young adult before moving her in.
