My first omni plant is of the "horrifying" quality even with outstanding fertilizers on it. What does that mean? If I feed it books, will it produce horrifying books?  ???

The books will be fine.  Only if you feed it fruits and vegetables will the horrifying quality make a difference.

Aha, so the oppertunity only influences the oppertunity that you can get the seeds or it makes from that point available for your whole family to plant and grow omni plants.
If it is the first thing, does anybody know from which level it is possible to work with omni plants?

The game says you can plant Omnis at level 10.  I'm not sure if it can be done earlier.

Virtualize with perfect Life fruit and you will be fine in no-time. ;)

I'm pretty sure if you are using buydebug plants you can plant anytime, but if it's seeds you at least have to be able to plant special seeds.   So that comes up when?  Level 5 or higher gardener?
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Level 7 and higher.

Yes, special seeds are level 7 or higher, but you can't get the opportunities to plant egg/cheese plants until level 8, and the steak/patty plants until level 9.  I'd lay money that to plant the omni plant you need to be level 10.  And while I can't say with 100% certainty, I believe I've had sims feed them after they were planted who weren't level 10.

Unable to order more Omni plant seeds
« Reply #55 on: June 25, 2011, 06:09:17 PM »
This is the first time I've tried (with Generations), so I'm not sure if it's something with Generations, or if this has happened to anyone before that EP came out. I click on the mailbox to "order omni plant seeds". The Sim goes to the mailbox and then just stands there while the action disappears from the queue. So, I only have the initial 3- 2 actually (I deleted the "horrifying quality" one of the 3), that I ordered when I finished with the opportunity.

So, does anyone have anything that may help? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, ejnarts.  I've merged your topic with an existing topic regarding omni plants.  A number of players have reported they couldn't order omni plants since Late Night came out and the patch that was released at that time.

I believe you can get another omni plant through buydebug, but I don't think there's been a solution to the problem of not being able to order seeds.  The discussion on this is a couple of pages back in this thread, if you want to look at it.

That is why when I tried to reply to this message, it said it said an error had occurred, lol.  Thought I was losing it.  I had basically said the same thing, that everyone has this problem and unfortunately, was not fixed with the last patch.  :)

Thanks Schipperke. I've read the thread...glitch...figures.

I'm assuming "virtualize" means fertilize?, but I wanted to be sure. I'm not sure if I was fertilizing with life fruit or not before I deleted the "horrifying" one (...thought that would allow me to order a new one), but the plant never changed quality. Does it change quality?

Yes, it's fertilize.  English isn't Leto's first language and he misses words sometimes.  And, no, an Omni plant does not change quality.  It stays at the same quality as when you planted it.

Thanks Pam. But, now I'm confused about the statement. It reads if you use life fruit you'll improve the quality of the plant. Or did he mean you'll improve the quality of whatever it is you feed the plant, to make up for the plant's horrifying quality?

Which goes back to what I remember as being a question previously in this thread, does the quality of the omni plant dictate the quality of whatever is fed to it. I did notice when I fed an expensive book to the horrifying one (before I deleted it) that the sale price was lower than it's initial cost. Again, I just want clarify  :) Thanks.

I can't say this with absolutely certainty, but I don't think Life Fruit will increase the quality of the plant.  However, it's been awhile since I've had Omni plants, so I could be wrong.

As for the quality of the produce from the Omni Plant, it takes a perfect plant to produce the same quality that's fed to it, except for fish.  They will come out the same no matter the quality of the Omni plant.  I don't know about books being less value.  They aren't rated by quality like fish and fruits/vegetables, so I thought they would be the same as what was planted.

You may want to do a search on the Forum for Omni plants.  I know there have been more discussions than this one.  You might be able to find more information in the other topics.

Omni plants when planted by buydebug are always Normal quality, but there are 2 ways you can improve their quality once planted:

1) Use NRaas Debug Enabler to set the quality higher/lower
2) Purchase the Swiftgro Gardening Station* from the Sims 3 Store and nag your plants to death with it, they will randomly bump up in quality all the way to Perfect (mine would skip Nice quality which might be due to being a plant sim with level 10 gardening, green thumb trait, and super green thumb LTW.)

It's also possible you could talk an omni plant to death to make it increase its quality since it works using the Switftgro store item but I haven't tried doing that myself.

If you attempt to clone them using the dropper tool and testing cheats on you'll always end up with a Normal quality (this was only with the buydebug plants, don't think you can clone the ones that come in the post), and if you do it using NRaas it doesn't work (I even attempted to use NRaas to add everything to the family inventory in case the clone was just displaced but it didn't exist.)

(This one's for ejnarts1) You'll find that when selling back produce whether made from an omni plant or grown from a seed or plant that they will sell back at a value that's only given to items that are home grown.  For example if you buy an apple from the store and sell it back you'll get $6 for it, but if you sell the same quality apple that you grew at home you'll only get $4 for it.  This could be why your book was worth less than one that wasn't reproduced by the omni plant.

This is the only topic in relation to what I'm posting, so yes I know it's 3 years old but it's relevant and answers some questions that are in here.

*btw a bit of a warning about the Swiftgro Gardening Station, it affects plants further than the footprint guide when placing one.  I'm not sure exactly how far but it seems to be 2 squares left and right and I think 4 squares above its placement, so if you are aiming to make different quality produce don't place one too close to your other plants.
