Playing casually with the Alvi family of Sunset Valley, I would like to put down some updates and pictures here. This family has a special place in my heart.

The Beginning

After a long break from TS3, I jumped into the game and picked the Alvi household with no set goals in mind. It is better this way due to my commitment issues. Anyway, as per usual, I had Miraj build some logic skill for his future career in law enforcement. Then he turned to painting to avoid curfew issues. The family is poor and can't afford books at the very beginning (they have only 600 simoleons), so he would need to read at the library and then go home (too much micro-managing), but he can always read the last two skill books later, when he is grown up. I tend to pick the Forensic Analyst track for him - that is why painting. He gets an A at school on his birthday and ages up to a teenager the same evening around 9PM.

VJ took a part-time job with the grocery store from the bat. I figured that his inapproriate behavior would do the less harm there. The mausoleum was out of the question for certain, and the spa...well, let's just say that I preferred the image of grocery store customers with splattered tomatos in their faces over spa customers who had been exposed to toxic facemasks and left with sore bodies from VJ's intentional brutalistic massage methods. He could be a receptionist then, you say? Yeah, but somehow a blue mohawk and raw punk vibes don't seem to fit in with the soothing themes of a relaxing spa. So, splattered vegetables in people's faces and on the floor for them to slip in, it was.

Then there is Iqbal, Miraj and VJ's troubled father. On one hand, I understand why his wife left him. On the other, I can't just let him be and die without some sort of accomplishment. I often start by having him take a week of unpaid time off work. He will age up in a few days' time and can then retire and not go back to work at all. Instead of going to work, I have him fish like there was no day tomorrow. With static needs on, he can achieve his lifetime wish of presenting the perfect private aquarium before he becomes an elder. So, that is what I had him do. He makes a lot of cash from selling the fish he catches as well. Enough to buy bait books if he sells them again after reading them. Of course, Miraj's paintings brought in a little coin too.

That is pretty much how I set things up from the beginning when playing the Alvis. I don't always play with aging on, but I do this time, because I actually want to focus on the boys' adult lives. As I write this, VJ is three days from becoming an adult. Miraj has six days left as a teenager. Their mother and Iqbal must have been very busy, having Miraj only three days after VJ. Regardless, leaving two kids behind is a bit of a sin in my eyes. And Iqbal, at a glance, doesn't seem to be quite fit for parenting alone. But with me in charge, the family gets to be in a place of strength when Iqbal's time is up.

The Current Status

Iqbal is a happy father as well as husband at this very moment. He has been to the future, met descendants, and claimed the statue of The Renowned Philanthropist. Meaning he basically cheated to win big in the lottery in the present day by peeking at the past's winning numbers while in the future. Tsk, tsk, Iqbal. But that is the strategy of a couch potato. Little moves, big waves. Iqbal does infact come with a bit of logic skill, so that he can be smart about being lazy. Whenever he is not distracted by something else. Like the nice lady across the street - Yumi. Yumi, who crossed the street and decided that Iqbal's place was a lot more interesting than hanging around her son and grandkid. So, what am I getting at? Well, Iqbal has himself a new wife! Welcome to the household, Yumi Alvi.

Yumi is quite a bit older than Iqbal, and she'll probably die soon and leave him with bottomless grief for the rest of his short life. But, at least he will depart on good terms with both of his sons. Unproductive VJ has spent a lot of time in front of the TV with his dad lately, and they are now good friends. VJ actually had a wish to reconcile with his father at some point, so I chose to make it happen. Miraj can now relax a bit as the family's mediator and express himself through his art. At least until I send him off to grind through logic books at the library.

What are my plans for VJ? I don't know yet. He has kissed Lisa Bunch once and inappropriately, which she liked. She often comes home with him from school and refuses to leave, staying and sleeping on the bench outside until morning when the school bus arrives. She seems to be insisting on becoming a part of the family. They would make a perfect crime couple - VJ as the childish Emperor of Evil and Lisa as the Masterthief lurking in his shadow and bringing him expensive toys that she stole from all the little rich kids in town. I can definitely see it. But I haven't decided yet. Although the implications of brother Miraj cleverly exposing their vile activities as a forensic analyst makes it worth considering at least.

Tending the crystal flowers freshly brought in from the future. Past soil accommodates them just fine.

Screenshot-2.jpg
Yumi was randomly at the park when Iqbal was also there. And I got spontaneous.

Screenshot-3.jpg
I thought 'let's give the old woman a heart attack and propose!', 'cause your personalities and zodiac signs are a match.

Screenshot-4.jpg
From being total strangers to a happily married couple, only a few hours need go by in The Sims. 86-days old Yumi immediately wanted to have a child with her new husband. Sorry, Yumi.

Screenshot-5.jpg
Yumi's favorite color of yellow simply fits perfectly with the yellow theme of Flava-ful AKA House Alvi.

Hey welcome back! What's simming without long breaks anyways?

VJ and Lisa feel like the natural yet obvious pair. Iqbal and Yumi feels like the right thing that no one thought of. I wonder just how similar their lives as single parents were.

Thank you, Trip :) Breaks are just a part of the Simming life. Need to recharge the batteries once in a while.

A Crazy Idea & Yumi Passes On

Well, I got the crazy idea to have Iqbal and Yumi travel to the future together and visit the hospital to have a baby engineered, now that Yumi was too old to conceive. So I did exactly that, and had VJ and Miraj tag along. A nice, wholesome family outing to the future that ended up becoming quite eventful, actually.

Screenshot-6.jpg
VJ established himself as a pool player and soon enough, he had mastered all the different trickshots. Miraj is seen painting in the background outside.

Screenshot-7.jpg
Iqbal and Yumi with the precious symbol of their love - Iqumi Alvi, a daughter. She cost 5000 simoleons and had better be worth it. Those made up a good chunk of Iqbal's lottery prize.

Screenshot-8.jpg
I discovered that Emit Relevart's establishment has skill books, so I made Miraj read while VJ got to go and see a Laser Rythm-a-con show. Upon coming out, he aged up to a young adult, celebrated by strangers with a descendant or two among them.

Screenshot-9.jpg
VJ the Man. I made sure that his new wardrobe contains red clothing, as that is his favorite color. For some reason, I couldn't decide his final trait. Usually, I make it Daredevil, but the game made him Ambitious. He will just have to have a midlife crises at some point.

Screenshot-10.jpg
I'm very sorry that the pool table figures in this picture as well, but he played a lot of pool in this session.

Screenshot-11.jpg
Downstairs, Grim showed up to escort Yumi to her next party. She made it 90 days exactly, I believe. As predicted, Iqbal will have to deal with some grief, but at least he has a cute little reminder of Yumi in Iqumi.

Screenshot-12.jpg
Miraj left his logic book further downstairs to observe the ruckus that Grim tends to cause wherever he goes.

Screenshot-13.jpg
Yumi seemed ready to move on to the next party and greeted Grim politely. She left behind a fancy futuristic urn/headstone. How nice, but I don't know where to put her yet. Leighton has a legitimate claim as well.

VJ was conspicuously absent during Yumi's passing. He was out in the wastes collecting things for me. I never assembled the future llama gnome before which I'm going to try this time. I will hang out in Oasis Landing until Iqumi and Miraj age up. It will happen in a couple of days' time.

Can't wait for the epic tombstone custody battle and whatever Leighton has to say about a new sibling...or actually getting future achievements, whichever sounds more fun. :P Congrats on breaking new ground with original townie spawn.

Back in Sunset Valley

Unfortunately, that epic battle is going to be a no-show since traveling through time appears to dematerialize urns kept in a Sim's inventory. Yumi's remains are nowhere to be found, sadly. Leighton will probably throw a fit when he learns his dear mother was lost in the space-time continuum. Ugh :-\

Well, anyway...Iqumi and Miraj aged up a day apart. Iqbal then decided to visit the Legacy Park to get some fresh air and allow himself to calm down after the loss of Yumi. Why do deaths and births and birthdays often coincide in this game? It's an emotional rollercoaster for sure. For the Sims, of course, not me. Oh, no. I...I am completely unaffected... *sniff*

I work out things as I go. VJ has been filling Emit Relevart's estabilshment with the piercing notes of a rythm-a-con. Specifically lullabys and other kids' songs like Mary Had a Little Lamb. I believe that Emit himself in fact tipped him once. Miraj has been teaching Iqumi how to walk and talk, while Iqbal did the questionable honor of potty-training her (it was after this, he needed to go to the park).

The family then said its goodbyes to Emit and Co. and went home, only to discover that everything Yumi was gone. Iqbal went to go fishing, while the brothers got themselves set up in their new jobs - crime and law enforcement. Then they hung out around town and ended the outing with a nice workout at the gym. Iqumi got to spend time with babysitter Candy Ashleydale, who is still a teen. The Alvis have aged while in the future, but the rest of Sunset Valley did not. But some interesting births have happened. I use NRaas' story progression mod, but have also been manually pollinating female Sims with various partners that seemed interesting. So, a decent portion of the new kids in town will share looks with the milkman. Or at least not their mother's husband.

Screenshot-25.jpg
Iqumi. She has Iqbal's hair color, which I love, Iqbal's jawline, Yumi's eyes, Yumi's lighter skin, her nose and flat face. In other words, a total cutie!

Screenshot-10.jpg
...Mary Had a Little Lamb.

Another thing to cross off the bucket list; Iqbal eating his favorite dish, cookies.

If you really want Yumi back in SV, or just her ghost, it might be possible via NRaas Master Controller, if you use it.

It worked for me with ghost cats in my Farmacy game when they moved towns and the pets' gravestones didn't come with us for some reason.
And it worked for Sims too, as well as a ghostly sim, who I forgot was a ghost when I added her to the new town.

I clicked on the home where I wanted my ghost cats or sim to be, chose NRaas>Master Controller>add sim>home world(choose the appropriate world)>(scrolled down the list to the required cat or sim and click on them)

They should appear on the lot or inside the home, and a quick check of the status of the home should now list them as occupants.
Click on the house>NRaas>status

For my inactive homes, I just left them as ghosts as I wasn't sure how to send them back to the netherworld.
But for my two ghostly cats on my active lot, I just clicked on the gravestones in their inventory and chose 'go to nether world'.
Then their gravestones were on my active lot---and they work properly too, as both cats have shown up in their ghostly form to haunt the lot from time to time. :)

Thank you, deedee_828. I do use NRaas' mods, but haven't tried it yet, but I will the next session.

Today's play has been a tad eventless. VJ and Miraj are doing good in their jobs and working a bit on their skills on the side. Iqbal is watching TV a lot and watching little Iqumi besides trying to keep his crystal flowers alive. There have been no further trips to the future yet, but the next time should be a colorful one, as Miraj has used Iqbal's future-changing device bought with lifetime points. When waiting for a toddler to grow, time passes by so slowly.

One thing I do have a lot of fun with is using pollination on townies. I may or may not have used it inappropriately once or twice :P

VJ has enough lifetime points to get a midlife crisis, but now I'm not sure if I still want to replace his ambitious trait with the daredevil one. Miraj got the unflirty trait when he aged up in the future. I had already given him genius when he aged up to teen. I'm not really sure about either of those traits, but right now I doesn't bother me enough to make me want to change it. I'm anxiously waiting for Miraj to get his police car.

I forgot to mention the lifetime wishes of VJ and Miraj. VJ received the High Tech Collector (futuristic toys for the childish VJ), and Miraj got the boring Surrounded by Family (he's family-oriented). As I mentioned previously, I make choices as I go along. Nothing, or very little, is planned ahead.

Screenshot.jpg
Both brothers are very fond of little Iqumi. Every time they come through the door from work or whatever, they get a wish to do something nice with her.

Screenshot-2.jpg
I had Miraj invite over his partner, Aggie, to build their relationship. Guess what? I got a notice from her in the upper-right corner of the screen that she felt romantically attracted to all three men. Not the other way around. Aggie, Aggie...

Screenshot-3.jpg
Nearly every woman in town is constantly either pregnant or in the process of giving birth. As can be witnessed here, while VJ is building his smarts.

Screenshot-4.jpg
VJ with Iqumi.

Screenshot-5.jpg
With a 27" screen and a quite high resolution, I can zoom in close on little details everywhere - like this bracelet. It sports a little skull and bones.

Screenshot-6.jpg
Sorry, this update really features VJ a lot, I just noticed. Well, he is speeding through town on his windcarver here. Miraj is at home and painting. Almost at level 10 now.

@deedee_828 It worked, thank you so much :)

Screenshot.jpg
This is Iqumi as a child. She is mostly Yumi to look at, but inherited Iqbal's chubbiness and awesome hair color. Her traits so far are Couch Potato, Neurotic and Unstable. The latter is from ITF. I have never tried it before, but now I'm curious. It seems to fit the rest of her and her parents' personalities.

Screenshot-2.jpg
This is Amir. And before you say anything, I'm odd and I know this and stand by it. Whenever I play the Alvis, I have to engineer some VJ x Miraj babies, because they always turn out so cute. They look like little yummy lumps of caramel. Now, just pretend you don't know this disturbing fact about me and move on. Thank you ::)

I'll bring more to this update later. On a note, I have installed Generations and Seasons now as well. It creates so much atmosphere, especially when it rains. Buster Clavell has passed on, too. He is usually the first in town to go, but Yumi beat him to it this time. Yumi has joined him in the mausoleum for now.

PS: I decided to change the traits of both VJ and Miraj back to that which I normally go with:

VJ - Daredevil, Inapproriate, Childish, Snob, Evil (Scorpio)
Miraj - Brave, Family-Oriented, Neat, Good, Ambitious (Pisces)

I tend to make Iqbal's sign be Taurus. Little Iqumi is a Libra, and Amir is a Scorpio as well.

Disturbing? Maybe. But better than just ignoring them or killing them off! I've not played with the Alvis all that much, and never engineered that specific combo before, never even thought to actually, but I have to admit little Amir is adorable!

I'm not expecting as much from my partnering of Claire Ursine and Jared Frio's son, Heath, with Darlene Bunch.
When my TJ game left SV their twin sons were just toddlers, so I am looking forward to seeing how their genetics plays out and if any combo will turn Bunch genetics into something positive!

And now with the stories I've read about the Alvis, I will be looking in on their family/families too! :)

@deedee_828 Good luck with your Bunch project. They are a...unique lot to put it politely. Yet, we wouldn't have it any different lest they would no longer be Bunches ;D Lisa and Ethan have begun procreating in my game. My SV is quite a mess in its current state, but I'm gonna figure out what is what at some point.

Iqbal Joins Yumi's Party

Around the age of 92-93 days, Iqbal was picked up by Grim despite not feeling quite ready. He fell to his knees and asked for five more minutes to get his hair in order, but Grim wouldn't hear of it. Yumi was waiting anxiously on the other side. And just like that, VJ became the new patriarch of Clan Alvi...for better or worse.

Screenshot-3.jpg
Iqumi spending some quality time with her father, before he is called away.

Screenshot-4.jpg
This questionable piece of color mess is the epitome of Miraj's artistic prowess. He has actually supermaxed the painting skill.

Screenshot-13.jpg
Then came the moment of Iqbal's grand farewell to the realm of mortals. Miraj was clearly feeling miffed. 'I don't get a say?!'

Screenshot-14.jpg
Nope, my darling. You don't. Emit found the whole experience very fascinating. He got a good look at the transition.

Screenshot-16.jpg
Iqumi was inconsolable. It's no fun being the child of old people...

Screenshot-18.jpg
Of course, VJ wasn't home this time either. He arrived later and was grieving for his dad with whom he had eventually become close friends with.

Screenshot-17.jpg
Grief aside, VJ was working on making the future dystopic. I thought I told him to scare Miraj into believing the sky was falling, but they seemed to talk about something quite different.

Screenshot-20.jpg
Iqumi decided to play peek-a-boo with Amir. Whoa, did that make them besties fast.

Screenshot-21.jpg
Iqumi's...unique face.

Screenshot-22.jpg
Miraj: Were you speeding through town again on your way here?
VJ: Speeding? You wound me, brother...*cough*

Screenshot-23.jpg
Amir checking if he is tasting like a toffee. ::)

And lastly, some pics from around town:

Screenshot-11.jpg
Jamie Jolina. I think the father of this kid is Beau Andrews.

Screenshot-12.jpg
Claire Ursine. The father here is Jared Frio again.

Screenshot-29.jpg
Sam Sekemoto. I'm very sorry, but I can't tell who his skating partner is :-\

I love the peek-a-boo interaction, it really does build up a friendship fast! :)

Iqumi does have a unique face, and I'm curious to see how she'll look as a teen and young adult.
I may just have to 'engineer' that combo for myself, though using NRaas instead of actually going to the future.

You know, that gives me an idea for an interesting game----use young again potion on all the elders in a town, see how they pair up with each other and let them have a complete life!
Kind of a "Back in the early days of Sunset Valley", or whichever town you choose to play in, maybe even bring all the dead ancestors/partners back to life to see how their lives pan out too.

Of course, if Iqbal and his young again partner had sons, they'd be named VJ and Miraj!

I can't wait to see how your VJ and Miraj handle their new roles now that Iqbal has met Grim!
Having to raise their much younger half-sister and little Amir.

Out of curiosity, how does the family tree list Amir?

Properly, in fact. I assume it is thanks to NRaas' WooHooer mod which I also have installed. Nothing is messed up. Seemingly, it can handle all kinds of strange relations. It was built partly with weirdos like me in mind ;D

I'm looking forward to post the next update, because a lot of crazy things happened today. As is often the case.
