My Time at Portia
« on: October 18, 2020, 10:33:31 AM »
I've been playing this for the past few days. It's like Stardew Valley, only with better graphics and more of an emphasis on crafting than farming. I found out about it from a review by @Carl, but now I can't find the review. Anyway, it's $30, so more expensive than Stardew Valley, but there's an update coming on Tuesday.

Things I wish I had known earlier:

Type c to bring up your inventory, plus some other things, like the map, allocation of skill points, etc. Why they don't include this in the beginning tutorial, I don't know.

As soon as you've made the ax and pickax, make a storage chest. Make 2.

Don't throw anything away.

Mrs. Flynn gave me the link to Carl's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIe--66GzVM. Check it out if you're interested.

I started playing My Time in Portia in summer 2018 while it was an Early Access game, then played it quite a bit for a year.
According to Steam, I've played My Time in Portia half as many hours as I've played Stardew Valley, which surprised me.

I like the world, the anime-like characters, the crafting, the spouse options' backstories, easier fishing, and the lesser amount of battle involved (compared to SDV).
Just checked my saves and I have two end-game-ish saves, both with no children. That seems to be when my interest peters out...
There's been several updates since last year, though, so I'll keep my eye out on the next one.
I like starting new games...

I have now become obsessed with his game thanks to Carl's video on it. Here

It is like a combination of Minecraft and Farmville (without having to deal with getting neighbors) - the cute factor is considerable and currently it's on sale.

I've been playing this lately, and have fallen in love. It's the first time I've made it to winter, which is lovely in Portia. I'm looking forward to Sandrock.

Okay, I am in love with this game. I just finished the part with the plane. I can't wait for Sandrock to come out. I am still playing and I don't think I will stop.
